Why do Swansea want rid of Clucas? www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/sam-clucas-set-undergo-burnley-14986639His exit will hopefully clear the way for Swansea to finally wrap up a move for Brentford’s Ryan Woods following elongated talks between the two clubs over a £6million transfer.
......he struggled for game time under Paul Clement, who openly-admitted he was unsure of where Clucas would fit into his side.
He saw more action under Carlos Carvalhal but, aside from his two-goal showing in the win over Arsenal, rarely found form. There were also concerns about his attitude in some quarters, meaning Swansea and new manager Graham Potter have been more than prepared to move him on.
Sounds made for us.

The fact we haven't raided the likes of Brentford, Preston and Bristol City for any of their players is infuriating. So shortsighted.

Doesnt it beg the question that if Ryan Woods is available and considered better than Clucas, why don't we just go for Woods and cut Swansea out of it? :-)

What exactly worked for Wales? They were a below average team who did well in a tournament. And he was a key part of their success (classing semi finals as a success), all of my Welsh friends consider him to be just as important as Ramsey for the national team. He obviously isn't a box to box midfielder, needs to be used differently. He obviously *isn't* a box to box midfielder?? Fook me well as he obviously isn't a DM, obviously isn't a #10 and obviously isn't a winger, exactly where else on the pitch is there left for him to stand?

Clucas is a really good player but a little inconsistent.
As mentioned, he's another who doesn't play a specific attacking/defensive role....not really what we need!

Wolves are interested, aren't they? "Very unlikely" to sign him says their local journo Buy him for 5m from Swansea and sell to Wolves for a couple of million more, 2 days later? (or is it just us that go for that sort of deal?)

Just joshing really. I don't think they could afford the extra they'd need to bring Joe in if Clucas can go for £8 million. I'd have Arter in no problem though, the little git. Yep. Let's Warnock our way out of the league. Get Lee Cattermole in as well. A bit pointless if you plan on 'Warnocking' in the Premier League for one season only. Clattermole in a Stoke shirt? He'd have more reds than a Labour Party conference.

Looking at the threads from his previous clubs Hull, Chesterfield no one can actually say what position is his best. He is a jack of all trades and master of none, the only common thing that you pick up on is that he has a inflated opinion of himself and his talents

Marriott will make the step up with ease IMHO I think Marriott will score at least 10/15 goals for Derby. Tried and tested was not the way forward in this window and I'm convinced of it now more than ever. Watkins, Pearson, Marriott, Bryan, they all have potential and are hungry as opposed to the likes of Ince whose ego takes a bashing when he drops down to this level for the third time. Etobo aside, who are we going to sell with any value? Cartwright is making the old man look a complete and utter mug.

Attitude problems? Don't really 'fit in' to any particular position?
Come and play in midfield for stoke city...

Just seems to do a better job when given a specific job/position than when he has to do all of it. When he played in the 10 role two years ago, he scored a few goals and was fit enough to press from the front. When he played DM for Wales, he did well and was there for the majority of the Euros.

I thought he was excellent at DM that season Hull were in the Premier League.
And he can cover left back too, no?
Subject to the attitude issues discussed above, I think he’d be a good signing.
