I have to get this off my chest. just being in this league is grim. last night's match was unwatchable. we have some horrible trip to Leeds a horrible place to visit followed by the mighty bees who will probably give us a lesson next Saturday. I hate everything about this league, it's utterly depressing and is @@@@ing me off. It's full of tin pot clubs with tin pot fans all who will be looking to get one over on us. and the CEO remains..... You can easily fix that, go watch Man U. For me, the anticipation of being able to walk on the field against any team in this division knowing we have an even chance beats the thrill of watching us playing a team where 1 player costs more than the combined value of our entire squad. Where our best sustained achievement ever in our history is 3 consecutive 9th placed finishes. Yes, I want to be back at the top table, but I am going to love every moment of our time down here.

It's gutting mate. Hardest league in the world to get out of but tin pot clubs and fans ? You're so wrong and disrespectful. You're certainly no working class hero. There are tinpot clubs. Wigan are the quintessential wank club. Reading aren't far behind. Hull are up there. Norwich, Ipswich, all beige family clubs with no edge about them, no history. There are plenty of proper clubs too, and yes there are tinpot clubs in the Prem like Watford, but there's no reason to not call a shit club a shit club. So what's your point if you are saying that there are also tin pot clubs in the prem ? My point was he saw this league as shit because of the clubs and fans in it, which is bullshit. Nearly 50 clubs have been in the prem. Maybe the pem is tin pot. Apart from the money.

When it comes to passion, excitement and fanbases....i’d choose the Championship all day long. Other than bragging rights the Premiership has nothing over the Championship in my opinion. I’m looking forward to this season more than I did any season in the premier league (bar the first one of course) Of course there is the little matter of millions and millions of pounds worth of difference, plus the opportunity to play against world class opponents every week, attract quality footballers and be part of what most consider to be the best League in the World of football ! apart from that it's hardly any different FFS.

Ahh yes. Be gentle with this child. Probably doesn’t remember being ramrodded by the Fail, where Plymouth Argyle and Gillingham were bogey teams and watching Cambridge United on a cold Tuesday with 1000 other fans.

……….and calling them "tin pot clubs" might even encourage them to want to get one over on us! This is the sort of arrogant shit that being in the "best league in the world" breeds ( remind me which league has won the Champions league the most over the last 10 years??) and it is so disrespectful to clubs with a great history such as Sheffield Wednesday and clubs that are BIGGER than us such as Villa. Villa got relegated & had the attitude of they'll go straight back up & that they were high & mighty above the rest. They're just about to start their 3rd season in the Championship..! There's being confident & theres being arrogant with it. The 'tin pot club's' attitude falls into the latter category & that's exactly what Villa fans were like..

It's perfectly ok for one person to prefer the excitement of an open league and someone else to enjoy watching higher quality football - even if the chances of winning it are vanishingly small. I'm really looking forward to this season - but I'm not going to complain if we go up. And as to the original post...when did we turn into Arsenal fans?

And the Norwich and Hull who in very recent times have been our peers or better? And let’s not forget the other “TinPot teams that have achieved more than or similar to us like: Everyone except 6 or 7 clubs! If you call them TinPot, by any form of logic you are calling Stoke TinPot too, and I object to ignorant glory hunting Johnny-come-lately arrogant snobs calling my beloved Stoke City TinPot!

Try telling a Tranmere fan or an Exeter fan that being in the Championship is shite.
It's all relative.
We are in a very competitive high profile League, and will have to fight hard for every point.
We have every chance of beating everyone and being beaten by everyone.
Our fans are no more or less than any other teams' fans.
There are plenty of clubs who think they shouldn't be in that League. Big mistake!

OP's got a point though hasn't he.
The championship hosts a substantially more wank quality of football as evidenced last night. It IS a less desirable league to be in, and all the people saying " fuck off and watch united then", the flip side of that is, if you love the lower leagues so much - fuck off and watch Salford. My point here, to save you the trouble - Is don't start telling supporters to go and follow another team because you don't agree with them, it's fucking poor.
We spent god knows how many years trying to get to the prem and when we're relegated by wank management and terminal transfers + timing of sacking Hughes, most of you lot are sperming your pants at the prospect of playing Rotherham and why?? what the fuck for? My favourite away days were always Preston Bolton Blackpool, Blackburn etc. So I grant there's some fun in the diversity of playing clubs we haven't played in a while - But would I rather watch any of those matches as opposed to a premier league match? Fucking no chance. they're fun in the cup but you want to be at top level, otherwise what's the fucking point?
The fact we're in this league shows a failure of the club on loads of levels and it's perfectly valid to state it on an opinion based board. All that's been wheeled out on this post in opposition to the OP is 'prawn sandwiches' and while I don't necessarily agree with the tin pot element; calling them arrogant. It fundamentally misses the frustration that's been barely contained by the hope and promise of a swift return to the prem. (Which apparently some of you don't want.)
Loads of you have the mentality of: oh well it's done now, better just get on with it and not complain - as is your right. But others are still seriously fucked off at those responsible for putting us in this mess and have equal claim to that opinion without the usual suspects throwing silly little names about.
As for the 'How dare you call X area a shithole, that's what Arsenal fans do!' Stoke IS a fucking hollowed out ex industrial vapid shithole, as are loads of places, the point is it's also where we come from (in the most part) and that's largely why we're stoke fans, because it's where we come from or you have sort of special connection to the club/area. It doesn't make you a stuck up arsenal fan to realise Middlesborough and Rotherham are the fucking pits, It makes you a realist and let's not forget that you have to also take the step down in quality of football.
As for all the other fans wanting to get one over on us - Obviously, they will due to recent status - how can that even be disputed??
So everyone's frustrated in one way or another but reel it in a bit with the rubbish arguments and petty insults.

Our relegation was due the club displaying relegation form over two years so as sure as night follows day it was going to happen and we are where we deserve to be. This brings with it a number of issues linked to the reduction in income such as the type of players we can now recruit and retain. The league is unfamiliar to some players and supporters and is notoriously difficult to get out of, apparently only something like 1 in 10 relegated teams bounce straight back to the premier league. One of our keys assets when we first got into the premier league was our support, the atmosphere made it really unpleasant for visiting teams, particularly the likes of Arsenal and their soulless entitled customers whose behaviour and comments really fired things up. I hope we don't have too many supporters who have morphed into said soulless entitled customer's, we cannot afford to provide extra motivation for our rivals as we will find this season difficult enough anyway.

Just read this thread and thank you for those who remind me there are likeminded stokies who love the success, but are not so up themselves that they think the ‘Prem’ is everything. I for one would want us there but have actually been a bit bored of late and am hoping for a far more exciting time ....hmmm remind of this next May!!! The best thing is my son who is now 18 and so came in on the crest of the wave is more excited by this season than the last few when he had to put up with all the shit from his Chelsea, manure, Arsenal, spuds mates who al live in Bristol ffs. Bring it on.

Of course there is the little matter of millions and millions of pounds worth of difference, plus the opportunity to play against world class opponents every week, attract quality footballers and be part of what most consider to be the best League in the World of football ! apart from that it's hardly any different FFS. The competition in the Championship is to gain promotion to the PL, the PL we have just been relegated from due to the incompetence of the Clubs board, transfer team and all round general management. Would I rather be watching my team pitting it's wit's against some of the best players and clubs in the world or slugging it out against the likes of Bolton !, I would take the PL option every time if we are honest we all would unless of course you are a masochist.

To be honest the last two seasons in the Prem were fucking torture and something massive needed to happen. Gone was the amazing Cavalier football- replaced by the fucking junkies with peeled brains monging on Spice in Hanley on any given day masquerading as players. We had a cardboard team with nothing to offer and we got rightly relegated. Shite as it is, the change itself is welcome to me.
