You should base any player on their whole time and the club rather than a single season. There has been many periods during his time where he has been excellent and has always cared when playing for the club. Of course there has been moments where he has costs to club games and as he has gotten older slowed down and not been able to keep up with the speed of Premier League. If memory serves correct a few season back there were calls for him to be named player of season. Time has come for him to move on but let's not have short memories. Exactly.

I don't like Adam full stop. I don't like how he plays football. I don't like his attitude. I think he's a liability. I think he takes the piss with his fitness. But even with that I could understand when people defended him because of his goals. His career with us though is split down the middle. This is League goals and games 2012/13- 3 goals in 27 2013/14 - 7 goals in 31 2014/15 - 7 goals in 29 2015/16 - 1 goal in 22 2016/17 - 1 goal in 24 2017/18 - 0 goals in 11 If he's not scoring goals, he's literally not offering anything. And as someone who can't stand him, those numbers in 13/14 and 14/15 are brilliant. But I think those stats do highlight how downhill he went and how less useful he became the longer it's gone on.

Always been a fan of Charlie, kind of admired the "pub team player come good" image he has about him.
Of course some of the comments are valid, his fitness hasn't always been what it should and he is a liability at times with reckless challenges.
Having said that he has an eye for goal, can strike a ball beautifully and has something you can't coach, vision. That ability to spot and execute a pass that can split open a defence.
I'd be sorry to see him go.

I'm sorry to see Charlie go as I think all round he's been a good player for us, however the time is right IMO.
I can't get the image out of my head where he missed that penno and reacted like a slug to get to the follow up.
I also think he's a difficult employee, especially given his media commits and I'd imagine any manager would prefer not to have to deal with that. Whether people do or don't think his comments persuaded Delph to not sign (I agree, they probably had 0 effect) - the outside impression he gave was that we were inferior, which even if we obviously are compared to clubs above us, should never be said out loud by one of our current players!

That's not right His delivery, especially for Crouch, was excellent (although not from corners) and for a long time it often seemed like he was the only player who could pass the ball forward. Not just about his goals. However he's clearly slowed down too much now and given we are stacked for midfielder's his time is up.

If Charlie had dedicated as much time to his fitness and conditioning, as he has to giving interviews on TalkShite etc, he would be twice the player he is. The unfortunate reality is, he's been constantly unfit and overweight, pretty much since the day we signed him. No, he's not overweight compared to the average bloke in the street, but compared to his fellow peers, he has always looked massively unfit. He has been given ample time to resolve that and has gotten worse..... not better. I remember people saying to me that giving him games would get him fit, but even when he had a run in the team, his fitness never seemed to improve.
It's not injuries, and it's not bloody genetics... he clearly lacks the dedication and has probably been lucky to hang on in the Premiership as long as he has. A wand of a left foot doesn't make you entitled to top level football and last season he looked as bad as many of our worst players since promotion. If you're going to act like Paul Gascoigne off the pitch, you have to have the talent of Paul Gascoigne on it..... and he doesn't. He has a great left foot and I will never forget some of the wonder goals and moments he has brought us, but he could have been so much more.
Thanks Charlie. Best wishes.

Ridiculous to think he is a similar age to christiano ronaldo Even more ridiculous if you google their weights and see who the real relative porker is The Charlie Adam is fat and unfit claims remains me of all the abuse Bjarni used to get when actually he was the same weight as James O'Connor, he's never had any pace or been a box to box midfielder, slam him for his very poor performances last season but lets not make stuff up.

Bjarni just looked a bit chunky but was clearly as fit as any player on the books (and a hell of a lot better a player than people gave him credit for). I like Charlie, but he's always appeared to have fitness issues and rarely got beyond 65 minutes without blowing out of his arse.

On his day when he strikes the ball for a wonder goal, he is amazing... I always thought he seemed like a decent guy, so I was a bit disappointed in the recent finger pointing routine on the Radio. Probably the right time for him to go. He would probably be a better manager/coach than player now.

Some players are naturally fit- Charlie isn't. He is a decent player but always struggled with the pace of the modern game. Time has caught up with him and he'll struggle to be effective anymore at this level. He needs to move on before it becomes embarrassing for all concerned.

It's what happens Dave when you hoover up a load of shit and lazily extend their contracts each season, rather than getting off your backside, doing the job you are paid to do and replace them.

Good luck to the guy. I quite liked him. He was past his best, but he gave his best. He tried a little too hard perhaps but I don’t know why people thing his leaving is like a new signing. He scored some fantastic goals and yesterday showed how to play a forward pass from midfield where others around him failed to do so. I see why people like and dislike him but his legs have gone and he won’t fit the pressing game we are seeking to play. Cheers for the good memories Charlie

No arguments from me. The affelay extension was the worst of the lot and the bojan one to a lesser extent.
