I heard it's so low because of a release clause in his contract. Can anyone confirm this? All I know is that as Shaqiri was about to put pen to paper and sign a club official jumped in and said “Hang on a minute, we haven’t put in a release clause of £13m even though you haven’t asked for one and would have signed anyway” Staggering from the club it really was..... 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

The fee is an absolute joke. Fucking board. It seems pretty clear he wouldn't have signed for us without the clause bayern, simple really, no clause, no Shaq, personally i am glad we got to see a player of his quality in a Stoke shirt. Add to that at the time relegation wasn't even a consideration. Feel free to use anything & everything as a stick to beat the club with but this is barely a twig mate.

This, ridiculous that we wouldn't let the lad sign until we had this clause in place There are a handful of posters on here who take absolutely no joy from supporting our club it seems, i really wonder why they do it.

First thing I look for when a player leaves is their message to address the fans and the club. Whether he's wrote it or not, it's a very nice one and it's the right way to leave. I wish him all the best.

I wish him all the best. Agree, it was a similar classy message from Hughes as well but some on here won’t even acknowledge the good bits of his tenure....

At what point did they make the decision to really take the piss out of fans and declare the fee as 'undiclosed'. That was an exceptional piece of wankery from Scholes someone behind the scenes at the club.

Yet they drool over Arnoutovic who took around 4 days to do his which was obviously an afterthought then he returned to our stadium and continued with what he thought of us Oh well

I’ll say it again SCFC triggered the release clause by getting us relegated in the first place, in that we’ve got a bunch of idiots robbing a living at the club. Time after time they walk away smelling of roses once Rowett sees them for what they are he’ll be off without a doubt.

Becoming more and more common to declare an “undisclosed” fee, shouldn’t be allowed and it’s hardly a secret in this case anyway....

We've probably begged asked Liverpool to agree to make it undisclosed as not to make Scholes out to be an even bigger idiot than we know he is.
Another player given away.

I can guarantee that most fans that care about the hirachy as well as the football are still perplexed by how that slimeball still clings on and commands a ridiculous wage.

First of all there are probably only about 1/2 a dozen people who know precisely what was in his contract.
1. If the club had refused to include whatever that clause was during initial negotiations he would not have signed
2. If it was a relegation clause the club failed due to poor management, we were relegated.
3. If it was a sell on clause please revert to 1 above.
Its fairly simple really.

See the word “probably”. It’s the old adage of “never have the desire to acquire”. We, as the purchaser had that “desire” He (his agent) would have been in the driving seat during the negotiations and would have negotiated an agreeable contract between both parties. Whatever the contractual clause was both parties would have been in agreement otherwise there wouldn’t have been a deal
