not whilst hes sat on the bench he wont He'll be occupied counting his money plus he'll have the added bonus of being able to rest his hamstrings. If he wanted to play football there must have been loads of opportunities for £13.5 million. unless hes extremely deluded anout his ability and he thinks he's brilliant

Back him! My arse. He's jumped ship to the whinging moaning Bin Dippers, fuck him. He could have stayed but he chose not to. Now Joe Allen on the other hand has shown us respect. Shaq has shown his spineless streak,no backbone and no fight in him. Surprising for a dwarf. I Thought they were supposed to be loyal... Wow, the bit about dwarves is mindblowingly moronic. Class post

Would liked to have seen more from him but he gave us quality moments and was part of the best stoke side I’ve seen. As sour taste as his departure leaves I don’t begrudge him the move. Thanks for the memories Shaq.

Sounds quite 'disclosed' here. Although I imagine admitting to it is fairly embarrassing. It's a relegation release clause. I don't get the big deal about the fee. If he only signed a three-year contract, he would've been off for free. Maybe the release clause was a compromise for a longer contract, and in fact a very good deal for Stoke. Would he have signed without the release clause? That's something we'll probably never know.

He'll be at Burnley or some newly promoted team in a few years unless he buys into Liverpool's work rate and movement off the ball.

Will Shaq get a good reception if he returns? He will from me, and I can't for the life of me think of a reason why he wouldn't from others. Thr paltry sum we've got for him is down to Scholes & Cartwright. I was just asking. That's all

He won't last 5 minutes under Klopp.
I suspect he's been brought in by the director of football because of the value for money factor so they can make a quick profit on him next summer.

Along with Stein,Hoekstra,Arnautovic, and Nzonzi the best player I've ever seen play for Stoke (I'm 36 years old).
Of course, they were all shit really and obviously massive wankers to boot.
I've said it before and will no doubt be saying it until my dying breath but most Stoke fans wouldn't know a decent player if he came up to them and jizzed in their eye.

Showing up every four weeks was never enough.
Thanks anyway Shaq, some great moments but many more dull ones.

Thank you Shaq. In a season of general misery you were a rare shining light and I think we all appreciated it. You gave your all amongst a sea of shite and I for one will be rooting for you and Liverpool this season. I don't believe he gave his all. If he did then he will clearly struggle at Liverpool where he will be expected to chip in with the less glamorous, dark art of defending. He will need to improve his work rate and attitude if he wants to be a regular starter for them. Having better players around him may help to showcase his vision but I am not a fan of his and don't think we will miss him. If we get Ritchie as his replacement I will be more than happy.

Maybe expectations are higher from our supposedly star player? There are many reasons why it seems we were dependent on Shaq and why his goals were so important. Not least of which is that we never seemed to be a team last year but rather a collection of individuals, especially up front where it looked like everyone was trying to enhance their show reels rather than concentrating on making the right decisions for the benefit of the team. We lacked creativity and Shaq was one of our go to outlets. I have stated earlier that Shaq may be a good fit in a better team. He will have more options and better players will be able to produce better results from his passes. He will have to up his own game and be more consistent if he wants to be a regulsr starter for Liverpool.

I'm split 50/50..... I liked Shaq, but I'm also not in the slightest bit bothered that he's gone!!!
To me he's the kind of player that'll be good for a team like Liverpool, because of his skill and vision.... But (daft as it sounds), not good enough for us....or a team LIKE us, cuz he doesn't possess the graft and fighting spirit that alot of teams like us need!!!
We don't have the money or the name to attract a team full of stars....so when you get the odd one who wants to just strut his skills, then let the rest of the team do the work....it stands out like a sore thumb!!!
Nah, he'll probably do okay for Liverpool, and for that I wish him well... But, I'm seriously ain't bothered he's gone....my hope is that we can get Matt Ritchie in in his place....now HE'S a player who'd be more suited to us!!!

Would he have signed without the release clause? That's something we'll probably never know. Plus it works both ways as the clauses are there to protect the club. We probably halved his wages so why would anyone agree to halving their wages and a high release clause that keeps them from moving.

Pretty much the way I see it but I didn't like Shaq as much as you. I like him 30% which is pretty much the same percentage as the number of good games he had for Stoke. The other 70% was bang average in my opinion. I have no axe to grind with his move. I wish him well. It is a good deal for both teams (can't do much about the fee...but I suppose that was what attracted Liverpool in the first place).

We have to put the fee into perspective. It was a relegation release clause which was clearly inserted on his request to insure him against what actually happened and ensure he'd be available for a competitive price to give him the best choice of clubs to choose from. He wouldn't have signed for us without it, it's that simple. A player of his stature wouldn't want a large release clause which could put off perspective buyers and potentially leave him trapped in the Championship with us. He was a huge coup at the time and most outsiders were shocked we'd convinced him to join us. This was clearly part of the bargaining process that persuaded him to join. It's very telling that it seems like he was the only player to have such a clause. The fee needs to be put into perspective too. He was signed in 2015 when transfer fees were quite a bit lower and £13.5m was quite a lot of money then. The transfer market has moved on faster than anyone could have anticipated back then and it's left us with a legacy clause which is out of step with the current market but because it's in the contract we're legally stuck with it .
