If Rowett sorts him he has talent but the bloke seems a total wanker to me

So I take it you don’t believe the FA for the drugs charge or the fact that he has been employed by SCFC for 18 months, served under two different managers and let all down whilst drawing a wage that you could only dream of and he played (well not) a significant part in our relegation. OKBy the way I can’t remember Pulis ever publicly saying anything degrogative about Berahino. For all of the stick he gets, it must be said, Saido had less to do with our relegation than most. “Had less to with our relegation than most” ???? That’s like saying Jese had nothing to do with our relegation Through his actions/performances/level of commitment/lack of professionalism he didn’t give either MH or PL the option of playing him for the “JOB” that he was contracted and well paid to do. He was a fully paid up member of a cliche of players who did not give a shit about their employer, fellow professionals or us the supporters.

Would you give Berahino another chance next season or will it be thanks and fook off if you were Rowett? can't see how he going change whatever division he in. I personally think he had enough chances myself but the amount we paid for him you never know he might be perform in championship so might be worth one more chance but I doubt weather he will deliver

This will be berahinos biggest test. Hughes from what i can gather was a loose manager and had his favourites, any sniff if trouble and he turned the blind eye. Lambert tried to stamp his authority but I don't think came across as authoritarian enough, so just banned him to hide the problem.
Rowett...I wouldn't like to piss this guy off tbh. It's last chance saloon for saido I think he knows he has to impress.
Unfortunately for saido there is very little wriggle room left having fell out ofbdavour with the previous 2 managers.
Shit or bust in a short amount of time

Get rid, he's had soooooooo many chances and fluffed them all How do we get rid? Other than pay off his long expensive contact in full? No one will buy him,no one will loan him. Pay him off or play him. If he turns up on time puts effort in and scores goals pre season (3 huge ifs) then he might be worth a go from the bench

You have to give him another chance. The other options are just going to cost us money. He may want to play for the new manager. If he doesn't and we have exhausted all options then we should seek to mitigate our losses but we can't turn our back on 12MM + wages without trying everything to rehabilitate him. Rowett will know within 3 months if it is going to work out...possibly even a lot sooner.

If he turns up on time puts effort in and scores goals pre season (3 huge ifs) then he might be worth a go from the bench I dont think that any of Hughes' flops should be the responsibility of Rowett, he's here to get us promoted at the first time of asking and nothing, absolutely nothing, should remotely detract from that single focus. When he is considering his first team squad for next season and potential recruitment's, he shouldn't consider that Berahino even exits, what to do with him should fall on the shoulders of the club, just like it has done with Wimmer. Rowett doesn't have to consider Wimmer as an option because the club have done something about it. First and foremost, I would like to see us try and get a loan for him with us paying the vast majority of his wages (95%?), heck we're going to have to pay them anyway. To someone like a Sunderland or a Bolton or a Birmingham. If he does find some form, then ultimately that will give us more options than we currently have now. If we can't find a loan for him, then we will have no other option but to keep him here, however he would be kept on the very fringes of the squad and there should be absolutely zero expectation on Rowett to rehabilitate him. He's not come here to do that. If miraculously Berahino can show something in training to warrant giving him a spot on the bench for a cup game, then good for him and we go from there (that is if there's anywhere to actually go of course).

I'm sure the club can get hold of a solicitor creative enough to find a way to outright sack the worthless cunt.
And if not, then to come up with a clever bit of constructive dismissal instead.

Interesting how many people are willing to give this wasting prick a chance but are so quick to write Bojan off! I'd give both a chance - but I actually think Berahino has more chance of coming off. Berahino had a good run of games the season before last but he clearly wasn't fit and he really needed a strike partner up there with him. Since then the majority of the problems have been off the pitch - he's a too much too soon dickhead. He's got the talent - he needs to grow up, stay fit and do something on the pitch. I think the problems run deeper with Bojan. He's admitted to panic attacks and this coupled with his reluctance to get stuck in since his injury means he's pretty much been a passenger when he plays. That's meat and drink to any hairy arsed defender in the Championship - one early "softener" and we're playing with 10 men. I really hope both come off - if they do we've got two players who (potentially) are a class above Championship standard and give us that bit extra we need for a promotion push. However its a physical league and I see Berahino having more chance than Bojan when it comes to dealing with any treatment being dished out on the pitch. As a person Bojan comes over as a really nice lad - certainly far more likeable than Berahino. But that really can't be the deciding factor as to who we play.

Fuckin football matches is what's to lose. We need to hit the ground focused and running, not take romantic punts on players who have done absolutely nothing for two seasons.

Because he's now old enough to realise he's wasting his talent and young enough to still realise it. He's in the last chance saloon - it may as well be our saloon because there is no way on earth we are going to attract anyone with his sort of potential as a Championship side, Anyway its Rowett's decision - and I'm sure he'll know whether he can make anything of him before the season starts.

If I were Coates I'd give love-rat Berahino a final warning for his sexual shenanigans, then pay a prostitute to seduce him / spike his drink with banned substances, then go to the press / anonymously tip-off the FA.
Boom, out you go, Saido.
(Edit- obviously then I'd take out a hit on the prostitute to be safe)

He'll watch them train for over a month, give them a wee run around in pre season and if he they prove they have quality and work ethic they'll probably get thrown on the bench. If they do well from the bench they might get thrown into the side and maybe even help us get promoted. You'll forgive me if I'm not quaking with fear at the prospect of that.

I got the impression some people were saying Rowett should take a look pre-season (which is where I'm at) and others were saying don't even bother just get rid, I can't recall anyone saying we should be basing our promotion prospects on either of them - just do the sensible thing and look at all our options before making decisions we might live to regret. No-one "knows" whether Rowett can make anything out of Bojan or Berahino - that's his call. Those saying just get rid are effectively denying Rowett the opportunity to make his own mind up on the options he's got available.

There's even been people saying play him and see where we are when we get to Christmas. As I've already said, several times, it depends how you define 'give him a chance'. I think Rowett shouldn't consider that Berahino even exists when he's drawing up his potential transfer targets for next season, for very good reason, he shouldn't even be a part of the equation. But once Rowett is happy with his squad, if Berahino can impress enough in training to maybe warrant a place on the bench in the odd game, then great, take it from there and consider it a bonus if it ultimately works out. But don't have anything but extremely low expectations prior to that point being reached.

I'd agree committing to playing him until until Xmas is way beyond wishful thinking but just dismissing out of hand if anything is even dafter. Of all players strikers are the ones that blow hot and cold in the extreme - even the very best. Vydra's record up until last year was pretty poor yet Rowett managed to get 20 goals out of him last season. Work the same magic with Berahino and we're laughing. The other factor is how Rowett wants to set us up. If he's looking to play with a single striker I'd agree Berahino simply isn't worth considering, However if he's looking to play a front two - or a narrow front three with wing backs providing the width - he could turn out to be quite effective. Anyway Rowett has already said he'll have a look so we should know soon enough as to whether he's in his plans.

Hes been given too many chances already.
A few video clips of him working out in the gym changes nothing.
We needed a striker to avoid relegation last season and we got HIM instead. He would have to score 50 goals next season to pay back what he owes Stoke City.

Anyway back to the OP...yes Berahino should be given a chance and as I understand it Rowett is going to have a look at him. Hopefully he'll realize it's his last chance to resurrect a once promising career and he ends up banging them in for us next season. And if it doesn't we've got a duffer to offload.
