Would you give Berahino another chance next season or will it be thanks and fook off if you were Rowett?

If we are not able to give him away because no one will match his wage then I don't see why not.
You'd hope Rowett would at least be willing to try, after all we paid up the remaining £2m of his contract at Derby to secure his services so you'd like to think he brings with him some kind of value add/midas touch wouldn't you?!
Rowett would need to get inside his head, succeed where those before him have failed, earn his 6 figure income. I think he'd like to try although he may quickly find himself utterly exasperated!

Do we have any other choice? We either play him,or pay him to sit at home.

He has the start of pre season to prove that he is serious about staying here - if he really doesn't want to take up that challenge, then we do our utmost to sell or loan him - knowing that it will be expensive whatever happens
Even playing in the under 23 set up could be a negative experience for our other players.

Any manager coming in should start with a clean slate and try to work with anybody employed by the club. Anybody who doesn't want to muck in and pull their weight should be told in no uncertain terms to shape up or ship out, simple as that!

im no solicitor
but surely if he is not following club rules and not conducting him self in a business like manner, then that is gross misconduct and should have the contract ripped up and should be dismissed
the club should spend a bit of money on a decent solicitor and teach this twats who are taking the piss out of our club a lesson

No, I would cut my losses with him. He has been given chance after chance to prove himself at different clubs and failed all of them. On paper it looked liked he could be a good option if you could get him going, but he doesn't appear to have it in him.

I’m sure he’ll be judged by his attitude in training. Hopefully he’s realised he’s got one of the best jobs in the world and you only get one shot at it...

I mean, I guess. We haven't really got anything to lose.
I wouldn't be basing my promotion push around him though, as chances are he'll continue to be completely useless.

I wonder if Berahino's lawyer would then argue for example that his ostracisation from the group by Lambert at the end of last season was done without due process being observed and as such was a breach of contract at the clubs end and no one would win except the lawyers. I'm not saying its right, only that is the way these things can go.

I cannot see the club doing anything that would leave them open to any kind of employment law issues. It may be more to the point that Berahino himself breached the terms of his contract and Lambert removing him from the first team was part of the clubs effort of help Berahino regain himself. It is all guess work when we do not have the facts.

What other option will there be?
No one is going to want to take him off us are they?
And if I was him, I wouldn't want to leave when I can get 50-70k a week for the next 4 years from us.

It seems odd though, these kind of employment cases with feckless players seem almost never to come up, its not only us, it can only be that the clubs don't think they can win them. As for 'due process' I would have thought it would likely be something that football managers would ignore. Would for example Lambert have first warned Berahino with a member of the HR team present taking notes and all those good things or would be simply have told him in a fit of rage to "f-off and not bring his sorry arse back here" for example ?! We don't know. Anyway if we had legal advice that we would win such a case I'm sure we'd fight it, so I presume we don't.

The only chance I’d give Berahino is to offer him a reduced-wage contract being re-instated to a full wage after a successful full season.
The condition would be that he doesn’t continue to act like a tit.

Berahino in Coventry 2 stoke 1
The worst performance by any player in a stoke shirt ever
No running No tackling No commitment No skill No talent No pace No drive No bollocks No end product
An entire match , spend hiding from the ball and doing nowt
Years ago , my kids played kids ,football and if they had played like that in a meaningless under 8 s game, I would have been silently secretly ashamed of them
They didn't, no one's kids did
The bottom line ... eight years olds, who would rather be on their be on their x box , have more impact on match day than berahino

Would hate to loan him out and him find his form ( I know I can't believe I'm thinking it) with another championship club. Scoring record is somewhat of a piss take in the prem so there will be no takers. There will be few clubs who can afford his wage without us contributing so for me he stays he sorts his head out and in January if he has not improved or found a scoring streak he goes.
If his head is not right because of his off the field antics then it's for the lawyers to deals with. If he needs an arm round his shoulder then I think rowett might just achieve it and he.may find his level in the championship if he can sort his mental issues out.
Needs stripping back and rebuilding does our saido. Put him on extra training sessions with kev Phillips let him judge his ability.

I personally think clubs would rather try and protect their asset and keep trying to get something out of them (even if that is a sell on fee) - Courts are often the last places business what to end up, even more so high profile football clubs that want to attract players. With regard to due process, I think the managers language might be sharp, but the actual disciplinary process will be carefully laid down and followed to the letter. It is all speculation, but it is also interesting. My personal opinion is that Berahino should go away and never return, but then again, I do not have millions of pounds invested in him.

You just can't have people like berahino and jesse in your squad
It only takes a couple of rotten apples to wreck the entire box
If you found two rotten apples in a box of apples . You would throw them out
Why on Earth, would you want to leave them in there ???

Like was mentioned earlier, it’s a question of time before clubs start to enroll solicitors to bring these type of wastrels back in line. Why shouldn’t the test case be Stoke? Alternatively we could pay his millions in wages and allow him to underperform or train with the youth.

When was the last time a league footballer had their contract cancelled and not paid up to some extent? It will either have to be your last sentence or give him a chance. Unless someone actually wants him. which again just doesn't seem plausible.

I honestly reckon to pay up his contract in full and be rid of him , would be a bargain .
There is a well worn phrase , used by a million men a year ...
" They say money can't buy you happiness . But it bought my divorce ! "
With that logic , I would pay up and be rid of him

I would imagine a footballers contract or sportsperson contract is one of the hardest to comply with. Most issues will be conduct that would get a contract ripped up or be in breach of.
The other matter is one of capability, to have capability though it has to be against a measurable variant and playing football unless there are specific fitness levels which he many be achieving i would imagine it is difficult to take them through a capability route.
This is where lazy people sit in that very grey area, they may well be performing but on a just enough basis yet not doing anything to suggest gross misconduct.

If the talk about the manager monitoring the players fitness activity over the summer then this will give a clear indication of beras and all the other players intent/attitude during this time If bera has has followed this then ok maybe a chance should be given on the understanding of one bad issue proved and your out. If bera hasnt made any fitness effort over the summer then no. Show him the door as he clearly is not bothered about stoke or his career.
