The dreaded Vote of confidence? And there it is. The next loss is the big one. Better sharpen up that axe, Pete.

Regardless of what anyone else thinks, that statement means Hughes is not going anywhere in the short term.

This is good news. I dread the day we become a club that doesn't give a manager time to turn things around. Sacking a manager mid season smacks of desperation and shows the owners do not have belief in their own appointments.

Looks like he has a little while longer to fix it, however it needs a drastic improvement in the manner of our performances and Hughes to actually put out a team that can compete with a formation that the team can play to.
Pace and width please Sparkie if you're gonna hang around a while longer.

A one liner from PC. Chairman speak for shape up or ship out.

Unless we carry on shipping goals at 4 per game, Hughes will be given until December at the earliest to try to turn things around. If not, a new man can be given a few weeks to assess the squad ahead of the January window.

They usually say that Before they kick them. Next WBA with Stokes defence and their setpieces could only end one way in that case WBA are 9 Points ahead of us. A new manager must be appointed Before the game to give the players and fans some hope.

Coates said "... while these results obviously can’t go on forever, we’re convinced that things will change.”
I wonder if at this point, they've already privately established how long 'forever' actually means?

I think if we go out the cup on Wednesday (season over) and lose at home to WBA, Hughes is going to Old Trafford to save his job. Any other scenario, and he's got himself a bit of time. Not much mind!

You would think that conversation has been had in the boardroom, as much as they are backing the manager, it would be foolish not to have a plan of when to push the button should it be needed. I think they are doing the right thing at the moment.

I still really want him to succeed.
But can't help but feel he couldn't survive a loss on Saturday, with Old Trafford to come.
Win on Saturday and he could buy himself a few weeks.

I think Coates is loyal and will give him as much time as feasibly possible.
The problem is I just can't see us turning it around at the moment. Our basic defending, positioning and passing is shocking.
If we don't get a win in the next three games I can't see how we can possibly continue with him. A win on Saturday will probably save his bacon. A draw and it's a game by game basis. Loses against West Brom I think Pete will give him two more games but the crowd will turn.

Think jezzascfc has it right Paul. December - ish, with enough time to run the rule over the bodies ahead of January.
Always thought so. PC is old school and 'honourable' so will stand by his man in the very short term at least.
Don't forget either, he and the whole board (as far as we know) were unaminously over the moon to get him, so absolutely none of them want him to fail as it blots their 'astute appointment' copybook very considerably.
Suspect the timetable behind the scenes is more immediate and frenetic though, with various "soundings" being considered if not underway already.

There seems to be a lot of passion, anger and genuinely upset Stoke City fans at the moment so can we, you know, for one game at least, give the team some sort of support and atmosphere on Saturday instead of feeling sorry for ourselves and sitting on our hands being ridiculed by the opposition supporters? We as a group of "supporters" have turned into a rate soggy bunch of wet lettuce.

They HAVE to win every game they play. Imagine some of these piss flaps supporting either of them, they'd be calling for a new manager every other week!

Stoke have been losing very ugly and Hughes refused to sign a keeper and Shawcross is a shadow of his former glory. Every team must build from defence and he simply doesn´t get that. Coates must act now or else it´s championsship next season and bye bye Money.
