Is this the same Imbula who was knocked off the ball by Sterling more than once !!!
He has ability but just wants to play at his own pace and sulks when he cant .
He is a mere shadow of Nzonzi who would have thrived in a game like today

He's not brilliant though is he? What has he actually done to deserve that label? I thought he was absolutely awful today. IMO he's a real worry.

You've got to know when to hold 'em and know when to fold 'em, Gianelli.

It's a total waste playing him behind the striker.
He's at his best when he picks the ball up from deep and drives forward.
Allen and Imbula in midfield is the way forward.

He cant even stand on his right foot and that shot looked like is a 6 years old he had a okay game but putting waters for imbula was a joke and putting diouf wide was a bad bad decision.

Lazy and no aggression. Somebody needs to lay into him in the dressing room after today's performance.

The three man midfield seemingly suited him the least.

Hmm. When do we genuinely start worrying about him and his 'contribution'?. On the whole, in most away games, he's looked the part but he has a strange knack of going missing for lengthy periods at home and in his position, that simply can't be happening. Wingers drift in and out, that's the nature of them and you can accept that but for so called 'midfield generals', it's just not acceptable. Joe Allen was everything Imbula should have been today. Not once did he disappear and was constantly in the game.
He's the very definition of a flash in the pan and this tag of 'brilliant player' is very premature. The jury's firmly out for me.

How did he give them the game today? Held onto to it too long sometimes, but class player.

He's a good player but in the premier league he won't get the time on the ball he wants, caught in possession far too much today

Certainly a tremendous player that Mark and his team rate very highly. Didn't quite happen today.

He needs a midfield destroyer beside him, to turnover the ball and feed him to move it forward. Something which should've been our main position to address this transfer window .
Wanyamma/kante style ....

I really think he was hampered by the position he was playing today, I know he lost it a few times deep in our half but generally he's not the type of player to play with his back to goal.
On a side note, what on earth were we doing in our own box today doing 4 yard passes, and it kept happening!

Wanyamma/kante style .... A Wanyamma type would make us top 8 surely behind Imbula and Allen in January if we can't get one in now.

He's as bad as he is good and today he was pretty woeful. His work rate is shocking and we carry him on days like today.

Hes excellent on his day but half the time he is fucking wank, 18 million pound my arse. From today's performance it looked like we needed a new midfielder despite spending shit loads, the lad just isn't consistent enough. Whelan has lost it, I honestly think we need a new midfielder to partner joe allen cus im really not happy with imbula. We need a striker, a full back because Erik has lost it, we need a center back, possibly a defensive midfielder.

Far from brilliant to be honest also starting to think he and Bojan cannot play in same team certainly not in this current system, both luxury players happy to play in the space in front of midfield but not clot else. don't think we are good enough to afford this luxury, it's either or for me.
