Just listened to his interview.
Feel for him in a way - but Christ knows what he's expecting.
You've got to be a bit nuts to take over a club at that level unless you're just doing it as a hobby and you don't mind losing money hand over fist.
And it's not as if Vale are underperforming to a massive degree. Just plodding along in the mediocre way they normally do.
Smurf: "If I was a Vale fan now, after the cup exit, what have I got to look forward to?" Presenter: "Play-off push maybe?" Smurf: "What, with this squad?"

Cue the calls for Robbie Williams to come and bail them out. Seriously though, who's going to buy them with any real financial clout ? This could be the beginning of the end for our scruffy, plucky no-hoper neighbours.

I knew there was a joke in there somewhere Seriously, though, you just don't say that about the squad of players at the club. He's constantly whinging about how much money he's put in, then in the next breath he's slagging off the quality of the squad. By that logic, he's either shit at negotiating transfers or he's shit at hiring managers who can identify good players that are within budget. His fault, either way.

One sellable asset - The pig sty. Lower league status and a poor squad of players. An awfully low fan base with little to zero scope to an increase in average attendances. The Vale are in real danger again, there could be very serious trouble brewing for them if they fail (no pun intended) to get a serious investor/investors with some proper money to turn them around. I feel no pity for them, they don't deserve our pity and wouldn't expect it I guess, just as we'd expect none in return. I suspect that their tale of woe is soon to take a turn for the worse as the calamitously run club sees the wheels completely fall off and they get derailed to the point of being an unsalvageable wreckage of a football club. Part of me sort of hopes they do find a way out, but I doubt it will happen. They'll find a short term fix at best, and then most likely find themselves in the shit a few years down the line. Dark times for The Vagrants.

Come on everyone, surely as we approach the season of goodwill to all men, we can find it within ourselves to show some empathy with those less fortunate than ourselves (Vale fans). Now is surely not the time to be sitting with a smug smile, wollowing in the misery of our nearest neighbours. I'm more than ready to offer the hand of friendship and will start the ball rolling with a 50p donation. Merry Christmas.

Can't believe the money that the council have spunked on that joke of a club.
If they want to spend cash on a joke shop then they should regenerate the one on hope Street.

Dark times for The Vagrants. Their fan base is old, people's disposable income is dwindling. Most of the old, devout Bell/Rudge era Failites are on fixed incomes/low wage. Little chance of converting younger people in SoT into Fail fans. Smurf has realised that for all his hard work and effort (and to be fair to him, he's put his own money in and become a "fan" who shows his passion) he's getting nothing back from the deadweights in Tunstall/Burslum/Chell Heath who should be stepping up to put money back into the club.

Seems like a bizarre thing to say when the Vale are only 4 points away from a play-off spot doesn't it? It also seems like a massive over-reaction to their cup exit, I mean they can't have gone in to an away game at Exeter at much better than evens I would imagine so it was no great shock if indeed it was any surprise at all.

Exeter v Liverpool at home would be the final straw. He'll need to sell up to pay for a new TV after he's just put his foot through it.
