What have we got to lose? Many times have I seen us sit back and defend a 1-0 lead without success. Now we have to attack and go for it. Whilst it's dissapointing it's certainly not over yet . 2-1 Stoke

I get really wound up by the extent of the frailty of most of our support. We have the most fickle fans in the country. I can't ever image what one of our players may think if ap they bothered to read threads in this forum. The worst thing is the abuse players get for lack of effort in games and it is nonsense. Never any credit given to opposing teams. This is a Cup Knockout competition. If we had drawn Liverpool in the quarter final away there would have been thousands of "Stoke Fans" believing we could win at Anfield. Because we had a poor performance in the first leg thousands are writing us off. I believe we can go to Anfield and win the game. 2-1 would see us through! 1-0 win would see extra time and penalties. This is a time when the quality of a club's fans shine through. The team needs our support to help them through and lift them for the challenge that lies ahead. It doesn't need the constant crap that gets hurled at them.

Unlucky Stoke! Thought you were pretty poor to be honest and judging by the groans and whining around me you all thought the same?
Thought we were excellent, considering our fixture pile up and injury list we played with energy and fight. Sadly we have another 2 injuries to add to the ridiculously long list, 11 players and counting, but thought Lucas was magnificent as CB for a player with exactly 45 minutes experience there in his whole career. We showed heart and fight which is something we haven't always shown at the Britannia.
As for your team, not sure what to say, CB's seemed scared to pass forward, Johnson played like he did for Liverpool (badly) and you looked devoid of ideas. Given that Lucas isn't tall and has never played CB and Kolo is now a geriatric, why didn't you try and put them under pressure? Surprising by Hughes to be fair
Anyways, I didn't get beaten up, no-one discovered we were Reds, and we even spent money in your club shop for a friend, so all's good for us. Good luck in the return leg, we're worse at home than away so you still have a chance. At the rate we are going we won't even have 11 fit players!!!!

Look at any post match thread on RAWK or TIA and you will find pages of people pissin and moaning that half our squad are deadwood and need shipping out this window. All modern fans are fickle sadly. 1 bad game and all the players are shit. It's depressing.

Your injuries should have turned the game our way but we didn't have the players to take advantage of them. I thought Liverpool were toothless in attack and vulnerable at West Ham, but we didn't have the energy of Noble in midfield or pace up front and on the wings to hurt you. I think it is still very much game on, though. Three weeks is a long time in football!

We definitely got away lightly last night when Liverpool should have been 2 or 3 up at half time. We rallied a bit second half, but were just not at the races for some reason. Passing worst I have seen from a Hughes-Stoke side.
The good news is that Liverpool played really well, we were poor and only lost 1-0, so bring it on boys at Anfield we are definitely still well in this tie, but we have to sort the Stoke heads out.
Also not for the first time our home form - formation - style - whatever is being shown up by visiting teams. Not a fortress and needs to be looked at as its happened to Stoke-Hughes teams over the last two seasons.

There was effort from the players last night, I genuinely think Hughes got the formation wrong. I know we had a good result against Man U and others with the current tactics but I really think it asks too much of the players each game and doesn't create enough chances.
In my mind the best we play is when Bojan sits behind a target man, like Crouchy or Walters (shocking miss last night Jon) without asking Arnie or Shaqiri to cut in every time to get into goal scoring positions - the only service coming into the box as a result of the current formation is from asking Johnson to play high up the pitch (best player last night imho) which then leaves Shawcross almost playing right back. Arnie and Shaq should generally be left to provide from wide positions and only cut in when the opportunity arises - at the moment who knows which of the front three the goals are supposed to come from - none at the moment judging by the few number of chances being created.
The worst player on Saturday and again last night, very poor distribution and not knowing where to be half the time, was Cameron (God I miss Nzonzi). We can afford to drop him and play with a recognised striker - Bojan alone up front does not work all the time.
wake up Hughes, that was abysmal last night - a defeat against a very average and weakened Liverpool side
Its been a great season so far, im just really annoyed that we didn't take full advantage of a great opportunity last night to progress

Going home from the match last night listing to talk shite and all the liverpool fans ringing in saying thats the best they have played all season and we only lost 1-0 and we played our worst. So for me we have ever chance.

As soon as Lucas was moved to cente half Hughes should have put on crouch
There and then !!
Instead he let Lucas be comfortable for the rest of the game till the 82nd minute !!!
Incredibly poor management on the night

Right lads, I'm gonna change my tune. We are going to Anfield and will win the tie, hate being negative. If we turn up and play like I know we can, we can do it. Come on Stoke.
