Was he the co-commentator on the Sky match choice game? What a throbber he was. It sounded like Tony Gale. Totally biased. He should be ashamed. I think it must be, it's usually the same commentary on Sky Match Choice as it is for the International Broadcasts that are streamed. He was laughably biased, every single comment was from a West Ham perspective, he sounded like a local radio co-commentator. You could almost hear him trying to not say "We need to..." "Great chance for US" etc I know we have a tendancy to get a bit paranoid on here with the old 'infamy' thing but he truly was shocking. As you say it was like listening to a Radio Hackney.

Clearly targeted today by that which is named Carol. A stray arm across Carols chest and the wimp goes down holding his face.....what a cheat. Ryan needs to learn that he will be targeted in this way and react the same way that he did against Costa, which was excellent. Bilic knew how we struggled vs Sunderland when Ryan was sent off, so they try to weaken us, Carol did everything to rattle Ryan and moan at the officials.

Ryan has a shocker. And we get another clean sheet. I'm not a genius (obviously) but that suggests to me that even a crap Ryan is more than a match for most teams. That'll do me. My west ham pal thought Shawcross was immense and forced carrol to play far too deep. If that's Ryan having a shocker, his worst still makes him the best English centre half in the country by some distance. Stats show Carrol who worked extremely hard, had just 4 touches in the box in the entire 94 minutes. Ryan had a scrap with him but effectively shut him out. Carrol never had a chance to head a cross etc.

More than the match commentators that said he had lost his head in the first half on the game I watched today. Then again every Stoke challenge was a foul and every Hammers foul was harsh according to them! I was particularly riled when Jack Butland came out and smothered the ball as Carroll came running into the box, the commenter said that Carroll should "have stuck a toe out and drawn a foul. Its not cheating It's the nature of the game today" and he is entitled to do draw the foul like that. I couldn't believe my ears!!! Butland made a brave run for the ball and smothered the ball, Carroll was nowhere near him and yet they were advocating him sticking his leg out and "drawing" the foul..... That is what is what is wrong with today.... We need to remember that most of the scrotes who get jobs as pundits were, not long ago, "sticking their toe out and drawing fouls". It's in the nature of the beast, I am afraid, and we would be naive to expect otherwise. Yet still we pay....

The daft thing is, when Ryan plays poorly, hes still an 7. What a centre half we have.

Actually didn't think Tony Gale was too bad Indeed. He had his moments, that's for sure, but was still reasonably fair to us. Would much rather listen to him than Dowie or Francis.

Tony Gale is West Ham thru and thru so don't be too surprised at his biased comments. It would make a pleasant change though if there was ever a commentator biased towards us.

Just listened to an interview with him and the moose after today's game and he was asked about his England's chances to which he replied " I've been playing well for 2 and a half years without a sniff so I don't hold out much hope now tbh" If he really finished his interview with "tbh" then I have lost all respect for him and we should strip him of the captaincy. The only thing worse is doing invisible quote marks in the air with his fingers*- if he ever did that we should sell him. * to be fair if it was a radio interview then we will never know if he did that - unless someone asks the Moose. invisible quote marks, that's one thing that really gets my back up!!!

the commentators where quick to suggest that when Ryan had a couple of little wobbles today that that was the reason he hasnt played more for England Yet Cahill's Chelsea are below us, and as I seem to recall.....Cahill was dropped to the bench for our last meeting which says a lot, yet still walks into the England team!!!

Since then, it appears that every cunt who has a Stoke player even breathe near him is urged by the pundits to "draw the foul and go down" or we get told "that was a foul, even with no contact".... It makes my piss boil. I blame that sack of shit, Garry Monk who just got sacked, he's a fucking fat gobbed hypocrite an'all. Cunts, the lot of 'em !! Blimey Woodbine are you OK mate, have you tried Bubble wrap.

Any gents, anyone care to explain what MOTD said re Ryan? Also who it was that said it They brought up the clean sheet stat since Ryan's return. It was almost like a subtweet for Woy. Not that he will pay any attention. Just recalled that as well as the on screen stat, Shearer referred to him as a 'decent player' so presumably that was damned by faint praise to temper down Lineker's/MoTD's support for Ryan.

I can remember watching Stoke on Setanta here in Canada years ago around promotion (they went bust here) and Lou was one of the commentators at the match. I think Pat Dolan was trying to say in studio at half time that Rory's throws were foul because he released them below his brow. Needless to say I guess Lou could hear them in the studio and he went renegade and started yelling at Dolan through the mic out of nowhere defending Rory. Was hilarious and I was chuffed he did it.

Is there a premiership record for most minutes played by defender without conceding a goal? for a player its Edwin van der Sar 1311 minutes 2008/09 so i would assume one of their defenders would have been close to that figure as well

Indeed. He had his moments, that's for sure, but was still reasonably fair to us. Would much rather listen to him than Dowie or Francis. Dowie can't even speak English, he sounds like a cassette that's being fast forwarded. If you saw him in the street you'd think he was someone with a serious crack habit. He's bad enough on those 30 second match summaries; how on earth he's employed to commentate for a full 90 minutes to provide insight into the game I have no idea. Trevor Francis is the worst though. I genuinely wondered at one point whether we'd have got a more even and balanced commentary if they hooked up a mic to the opposition manager live during the game.

Incredible record, however you're right to credit the entire defence. Shawcross was arguably the worst defender in our back four today and still kept West Ham out. Yes he's a worse right back than huth
