Apart from the excessive pop-ups and the unwanted video clips, the worst thing about the Sentinel football coverage is the lowbrow, repetitious and content-free arguing between a couple or three bores that pollutes the below-the-line comments. I'm sorry to see the same kind of thing turning up here. Perhaps the administrators could take a few minutes off from merging threads to set up a new forum - "Drones"

They might enjoy it but it sure spoils it for the 99% of others.

To micro analyse the move. Pieters went in for a Challenge with Bojan dropping in, The ball got played inside that nobody goes to challenge Wolly goes to close down then realises Giroud is free but it's too late Bojan is just watching all this as Eric tries to get back Shawcross doesn't make an attempt to get across he just hopes for an offside call It was a mistake by Wolly yes but not a sloppy lazy mistake, his team mates put him in a place that a split second decision almost cost us. If Whelan had of closed down Campbell or Bojan or Shawcross picked up Girouds run there wouldn't have been a problem. Wolly certainly didn't step up half a yard, that's like saying he was trying to play offside, he sees nobody challenging Campbell and goes to close him down but spots Giroud. Shit defending all round really for that 1. Agree pretty much with all of that except the offside bit. I was not implying that Wolly was trying to play offside. Wolly made the initial move as you say to close down the ball player. Perhaps, he didn't need to do so quite so quickly but it was understandable. It was only one step. If he had waited a split second the pass may never have been made because (a) Wolly would be closer to Giroud and (b) the ball player was drifting inside towards Whelan. A decision process that needed to be made in a micro-second..hardly a hanging offence altho' people will use it to say Wolly was out of position. Wolly knew Giroud was free when he made the move to the ballplayer because he had been marking him (or at the least he was the closest man to him during the passage of play. He either thought Pieters was in a position to cover for him or he was just hoping to cut off the pass. He realized in a split second that he was not going to make the ball player and tried to recover. Shawcross was in no position to get across hence the arm raised in hope! I just disagree with RAF in that he thought Shawcross should have done more. I think Shawcross had no time to react in anticipation of that pass. Giroud ran from between Wolly & Pieters..not easy for Shawcross to pick that up in my opinion. I don't even think it was necessarily shit defending. These things happen all the time and often the defender is fortunate in getting a block in or the attacker makes a pigs ear of the execution. No one bats an eyelid because no goal was scored or no clear cut chance was created. Check out the number of free attackers at any corner..we would all be foaming at the mouth if every ball found the 2-3 free men

To micro analyse it more...
Arsenal passed the ball around really well, making good runs off the ball and moving the opposition players around into positions that they can exploit. The final through ball was quality as was the run. This is Arsenals m.o. and they do it to virtually every team they play, even the likes of Bayern and Barca. Sometimes £40million footballers will play better than £2million ones.
There was only one glaring error and that was from our wonderful captain on the corner.
I'm looking forward to Bayern on next weeks MNF and his particular brand of punditry.

Threads tend to morph every now and then...and then they die. I saw Joselu in Singapore and thought he was useless. I was prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt given that Hughes should know a striker when he sees one. Not yet convinced by Joselu..I still prefer Diouf..but he has generally done ok when he has come on and the last few games he has been good. We have a reasonable mix up front now without quite having a marquee centre forward.

His movement is intelligent and he always always strikes the ball cleanly from any position. The final shot that Cech saved he had to react so quickly and yet hit it hard and true. I think he could have loads of goals in him. He's also shown good strength. I love Diouf's pace, attitude and work rate but he isn't a patch on Joselu quality wise. (Although I accept they are completely different types of players).

One for the "passion" brigade Hughes, Bojan and Joselu have all "talked the talk" ahead of this game. Now they've got to prove it all and "walk the walk". Can they do it? I think they can.

I'm not sure I like all the "talk". Don't get me wrong.....I'm loving the passion....but I've always preferred the Clint Eastwood approach. Say nothing and kick ass. I notice Glenn and several others have stayed quiet which I prefer tbh. That said if they deliver then I take it all back!! PS I think Hughes has spoken well and set a good tone...it's more the player's that I feel a bit apprehensive about!

I think the performance is everything tonight .
The lads have to bang in some goals and it has to be a case of win or go down all guns blazing .
