The lad is class. He reminds me in the way he plays of Harry Kane who turns reminds me of Teddy Sheringham. A very clever footballer and a fine manipulator of space and defenders. He does seem to have the best 'all round' game of anybody in our squad. Quick, good control, good in the air, intelligent, committed, good passer, can find the target (couple of big misses aside early on). Hope he gets an extended run, he deserves it.

We don't need to a new striker. I'm convinced. Winger and Defensive midfielder please. Back up for Arnie seems needed as he looked out of it for a long time today and seemed to be carrying a knock and we had nobody to bring on. Maybe an assadi/moses type loan who can play on both wings would be a good move until the end of the season. And while I like Whelan it does have to be said he seems the easiest player to upgrade in the starting 11 at the moment. That's more of a case of having such a strong team than him not being any good though. If glen gets injured we will suffer, we need a midfield beast. Some big African or something.

Deserved to score yesterday, some wonderful saves from a great keeper in Petr Cech. Against former Arsenal goalkeepers, he'd have probably had two.

That's the difference. And of course what if counts, I've bollocked players for scoring penos because they use crap techniques that allow the 'keeper more of a chance to save them. It doesn't matter that they scored etc. Wolly just isn't very good. I disagree re Joselu btw. Thought he was excellent yesterday along with Ryan and Afellay.

Apart from the excessive pop-ups and the unwanted video clips, the worst thing about the Sentinel football coverage is the lowbrow, repetitious and content-free arguing between a couple or three bores that pollutes the below-the-line comments. I'm sorry to see the same kind of thing turning up here. Perhaps the administrators could take a few minutes off from merging threads to set up a new forum - "Drones"

I love Ryan, but he got cut apart last night by Giroud when Butland made that great save rushing out, had that been Wolly you would have fucking crucified him. H You need to look at that again. Wolly stepped up half a yard with Giroud behind him. The ball was slotted in behind Wolly and he struggled to get back to make the challenge. The other person who possibly could have blocked off Giroud's run was presumably Pieters (left back position). It's a toss up if you want to apportion blame but I would say that once Wolly stepped up it was up to the player in the left back position (Pieters?) to cover Giroud's run. Shawcross was not involved in that chance and nor should he have been. To say he was cut apart is, quite frankly, nonsense.

Thanks for clearing that up H The one where Wolly was out of position yes and it left a massive gap. He does it most games, it's how Liverpool scored vs us. He misjudges it, rushes out, is too slow, leaves a massive gap in behind and all hell breaks loose. Attacking wise only Walters' shit ball on the 3 on 2 compares to the level of the Wolly mistake. Both dreadful mistakes. No surprise that the two worst players made them.

Pieters went in for a Challenge with Bojan dropping in, The ball got played inside that nobody goes to challenge Wolly goes to close down then realises Giroud is free but it's too late Bojan is just watching all this as Eric tries to get back Shawcross doesn't make an attempt to get across he just hopes for an offside call It was a mistake by Wolly yes but not a sloppy lazy mistake, his team mates put him in a place that a split second decision almost cost us. If Whelan had of closed down Campbell or Bojan or Shawcross picked up Girouds run there wouldn't have been a problem. Wolly certainly didn't step up half a yard, that's like saying he was trying to play offside, he sees nobody challenging Campbell and goes to close him down but spots Giroud. Shit defending all round really for that 1.
