Living Wage to come in at Stoke City by July 2016 In the week of comrade Corbyn's Labour Conference too: "Then raise the red'n'white standard high. Within its shade we'll live and die, The working class can kiss my ass, I've got the living wage at last"

Which living wage?
There are currently 2. The better optional one payer by Aldi(?), and the governments one which probably is the earlier date.

May I ask yet again, in readiness for the next meeting, about a specialised fanzone for supporters? A place we can all gather, with bars, entertainment etc.
This was actually mooted by Anthony Emmerson a while back, and mentioned in one of the meetings minutes, but has strangely gone quiet.
Can we re-raise this please? At least to get a reason why it is not going ahead.

Hi Ange/Team.
It would be great to discuss the health and safety issue that seems to go wither ignored or not inforced. There is a thread relating to exiting the ground where people get up and wait in the aisle for 10 minutes at the end instead of leaving or moving into the concourse. Its asking for someone to fall, a steward to get into a fight with a drunk fan when asked to move or even disabled fans not being able to see. I wont ellaborate anymore thiugh as you can read the thread but you will see its echoed by many and no doubt countless more who don't read this forum.
Thanks!

Thanks for the comments. Re blocking exits, the stewards were reminded again of the duties pre the Bournemouth game. We will make certain the matter is on the agenda again at the next meeting. Re the 5000th game, it really depends on what criteria are used to determine official competitive games. Hopefully we will win it and it will be a memorable event.

Re the bar in the concourse areas has consideration been given bout the possibility of someone selling just bottles of alcohol from a free standing fridge, in a different area of the concourse away from the bar?? I think Arsenal did it this season & it may ease the congestion around the main bar in the boothen it could be placed by block 19 or up the other end (24)... Possibly put one in the DPD (sentinel stand) also....

I think a fan zone of any sort is a superb idea. It would be great to see the club break the mould in this way but I can never see it taking off. It would be great to see something like a sports bar/5 a side/food and drink areas etc all in one place. Liverpool tried it once but it was terribly executed.
The club has allowed itself to become so surrounded I struggle to see where it could go. Around power league perhaps? I always thought the car park behind the boothen would be great but again it's out the way.
In relation to the cramped was on the concourse, why can't a fence around the entire stadium be constructed just like the south stand and allow vendors etc to trade and sell drinks outside during half time? We would double/triple the size of the concourse during the busy periods for a relatively minor outlay.
Daft as it sounds, TVs outside like found in many puns and sports bars could show half time scores, advertising, pre match news, ticket news etc and show club media during the week?
Also I know the club were after a way of funding any new corner/wind break. Has a solution similar to that at Derby been considered. Adding a costa/greggs or something similar to the bottom section (e.g where delilahs is now) to help to pay for any new corner/s?
This could be a great way to fill the two empty corners in ASAP.
I agree with the mentions of vending machines but with an already cramped concourse I don't think there's the space?
It's good to see work being done to allow fans to hang flags, again. But we need our own "surfer" flag that actually goes into the crowd as that has stopped again.
Also has the club considered, as part of the city of sport, how good it would be to have a "community stadium" locally with small games for U21, U18, ladies matches, local cup finals that has proper facilities and a place for fans. That can be used by both local clubs and teams. I'm sure there must be unused land in the city somewhere screaming out for it. That could be used by all parts of the city? A lasting legacy that could have a real impact?
With all profits going back into the upkeep/improvement of the stadium. Why can't games be played at Northwood stadium or somewhere closer than Macclesfield? At present?

Why can't games be played at Northwood stadium or somewhere closer than Macclesfield? At present? The concourses on 3 sides of the ground (i.e. all, apart from the main stand) are already at the bare legal minimum size for the capacity of the stands. I think there is a good argument for expanding those concourses by building single story extensions back towards the car parks. Even enlarging the concourses by 12 - 20 feet (and moving the turnstiles back to the new boundary wall) would make a huge difference to the space inside the concourses and the facilities which could be offered: more space for queuing at the counters/vending machines/extra toilet blocks etc. etc. I suggest that this is trialled in either the South Stand or the Boothen. In the South stand it would allow for more scope in reducing the segregated area as, at present, flexible segregation is complicated because the concourses below the stand are to small to allow flexibility.

Despite swimming in cash the club does NOTHING for the supporter..

Thanks again for all your comments, we will speak with the club on every point raised. Can you raise the following please. 1. Why is the club refusing to expand the ground when their peers are doing so? Just what is it they are afraid of? 2. Why does the club expect people to turn up and pay good money week in week out when the facilities are an absolute joke? 3. Why does the club expect supporters to sit in freezing cold conditions? 4. Why does the club treat its paying customers with such utter contempt? Still, we're getting Oatcakes.

A lasting legacy that could have a real impact? With all profits going back into the upkeep/improvement of the stadium. Why can't games be played at Northwood stadium or somewhere closer than Macclesfield? At present? I had heard the idea mentioned by the club before but thought nothing of it sounded like it had been dropped. It came back into my thoughts when I visited the Etihad last season with a work colleague in the home end. I appreciate there are a fair few differences between the two clubs, not so much money but also location, layout and size of the Stadium also. However, some of the idea's were really well thought out and the facilities were nothing short of excellent for the paying supporter. I always compare it to my own matchday expeience and try to wonder what it would be like here. For example, when it rains we have nowhere to go. Why? At City Square, they have numerous area's with rain covers. If I want something to eat or drink I have to use the basic vendors outside. Well, City have a number of different vendors including fried chicken, Pizza, a traditional cafe with bench seating (under cover) alongside the usual chips and burgers etc They have outside toilets, which is something we don't have. They also have an outside bar which was surprisingly well priced. Something which may be bit excessive is a stage area where they have pre match entertainment, interviews with ex legends and themed events with the opposition supporters/mascots, live bands etc. aswell as numerous big screens dotted around the place showing highlights. They also have golf buggies which transport elderly and disabled people from the car park straight to the turnstile...and back again at full time. They have various pop up entertainment area's for the kids - penalty shoot outs, ball juggling etc. They even put their programs in a sealed plastic sleeve! "go to Man City then" I hear you cry. Not a chance. I just think some of the basic facilities they have should be accessible to all Premier League clubs with the huge amounts of TV money that is sloshing around. I appreciate the club do a great deal with away fans but I think there is a duty to all clubs to start tailoring home facilities toward families if that is the next generation of the club's support. If they are charging 40 quid a ticket for a family of 4 then at least turn it into a full day out, rather than a turn up at 2:30pm because there is little else to do and "take care on your way home" at 5pm and "oh and don't forget your new shirt on your way out". If Anthony Emmerson is reading this then i'd be delighted to re-visit the facility with you to show you what I saw and to point out what I liked and didn't like about the place. That is a genuine offer btw.

Pugs, cheer up old fella.
Ange - some thoughts for next time from me
Turnstiles - They have made a slight effort to put some queue control behind the Boothen using the temporary gates that I presume they use for the smokers to create a single line queue from about 15 yards from the actual door - however as 3pm approaches (from about 2.40) the queues beyond that are a bit of a wild west - they form some 8-10 across that means a lot of cajoling to funnel into the single lane at the end, folk just joining the queue halfway down etc - adults is painful enough, but for kids it can be a little menacing - longer barriers out the back please and perhaps the stewards at the end directing people in rather than leaning against the wall looking bored
Fanzone - would be fantastic - perhaps in the corner behind Delilahs where there is a ton of space to have an outside bar, use those temporary railings again herd people in (and have the stewards again monitoring the fans and stopping folk wandering off with alcohol etc to keep them there), a screen perhaps on the Delilahs outer wall showing the early game, people may even buy food if on offer (despite it being a full on rip off but thats a different matter). Something for the kids to do (penno shoot out, EA/Playstation bus etc) would be a bonus - would become a great meeting area for many who catch up with friends at the game but maybe dont sit together
Expansion - corners obv need doing, but have the club ever considered expanding the back of the Boothen End concourse further? If the back wall was moved 15-20 yards there would still be plenty of space to queue to get in, but having the bars/food counters in the middle with 360 degree access would make the whole before game/half time experience far better - trying to go to the loo, or get a drink in that crush at the break is horrific (esp for a parent with a young lad with me!) and make it a far more social place
Some benches/seats / tables (as in the QR upper) wouldnt go begging either!
Given the choice of a fanzone or expanded Boothen concourse I would go with the latter.
