A bit lower than he is worth if you ask me.

A bit lower than he is worth if you ask me. I agree. The contract situation really muddies it though. Is there a precedent for a player going for really crazy money with 12 months left on his contract?

Looks like he's definitely off then if Percy says so. I'm getting slightly concerned that we'll end up in a situation where no one bids for him and he ends up leaving for a free.

He probably deserves to be our best paid player? Or at least on a par?

£8m seems fair if you consider his contract status. Use it to buy a goal scorer or right sided forward and stick Butland between the sticks, easy.......

He probably deserves to be our best paid player? Or at least on a par? Is he not? Edit: would help if I read the article. Depends if he is asking for parity then that is appropriate. If he is asking for way more then maybe not.

£8million is about right. Had an iffy season, coming to the end of his contract.
If I was him I'd be pushing for a move before he becomes a target for the knuckle draggers.

If he gets a shot at a big club then good luck to him. He has been a great player for us, and it would be a shame if the transfer fee was to ruin his chance of playing at the highest level.

We're fucked. He's now not happy, do we really want a distracted and disgruntled Bego around the place next year, performing like he has this season or sitting on the bench, only for him to walk out the door for free in a year. We have to take what we can get.

John Percy is quite reliable. I think most people already jumped to the conclusion that he's off though.

8M that's giving him away more like 10M - 12M.

Sounds like in comes down to money Begovic wants to be the clubs highest earner?

Hopefully there will be more than one bidder;that should push the price up to a more palatable £12M.
£8M for Bego is just way too little.

About right given his questionable form and contract scenario, don't think he ever would have gone for more than 12 million anyway.

Think 8m is about right given the contract situation. I also think last summer was have been the right time to sell as his stock was much higher.
Asmir is coming dangerously close to a 'no way back' scenario. I am not sure if that is a good or bad thing for Stoke.

£8 Million is the John Percy view of his value, not the price Stoke have stated. It is also pure paper talk concerning break down of negotiations and Beggo wanting to be Stoke's highest paid player. If memory serves me right, the only talk from the club, or Beggo, has been of leaving any discussion until the season is over. Until I hear it from the club or Beggo, I'll ignore it like 90% of the crap that gets printed in the papers concerning football.

Odd that the suggestion is that money's the issue and he'd stay if that was ok. Just looks like he thinks this is his one chance to make the big jump to a superclub and Champions League glitz.
You'd assume he's up there in the top tier of earners already at about the 50k mark?

Is there a precedent for a player going for really crazy money with 12 months left on his contract? Yeah there is that. And reading that article it seems obvious that he is going to be off. I'm not so sure where he will go that will be an improvement on here if he stays in this country, not as a number 1 anyway. Whoever does sign him though are getting a top class goalie and 8 million would be a complete steal.

Would prefer him to stay but do not like being held to ransom. £8m seems under value but with 12 months left probably as much as we can get. Butland will improve with practice and he is pretty good now. At least we will make a profit.
We are gently moving up so this will happen more often. We need to spend it wisely

Need to take this in our stride as if we continue to progress and attract 'better' players there will be much more of this
I really hope is does not end nasty as he has been superb for us and a key part of where we are now - the odd iffy moment or not

Tough one for the club but they did the right thing keeping him.

I think he's always wanted to step up and who can blame him?
Key now is that we get a genuine competitor in to back up/contest the shirt with Butland.
