Maybe, but good ones are few and far between No maybe about it. The problem with Bego is hes gone backwards, I'm sure its just a blip but he hasn't been his usual self this season so thats also going put clubs off. If the club who are buying him are champions league material then they beleive Begovic to be Champions League material. A lot of these clubs tend to spend top dollar for Goalkeepers as they are few and far between. If they (top european clubs)think he's good enough they will have no problem coughing up 10 because good keepers of that standard and price are few and far between. Anybody can go out and spend 15m on a striker to get you goals, as many clubs do. champions league clubs need top level goalkeepers and they don't fall off of christmas trees

He refused to sit on the bench.... Not once, but twice. That says it all really. EDIT: Actually, the first time, he was refusing to play.
Perhaps he thought that if he had to come on he wouldn't be at his best? Just like you, I have no idea. I'd rather give the fella the benefit of the doubt rather than lay into him, especially as for the majority of the time he has been with us he has been nothing short of fantastic.
He got the benefit of the doubt when he refused to play against Shrewsbury. Sorry but refusing to sit on the bench is 100% unprofessional whether you are Begovic or Nzonzi or Carlos Tevez or whoever. Hes swiftly burning all his bridges so stop making up excuses for him

If Cech is so good why is not first choice at Chelsea? He was a great keeper not any more and yes Beggo is better that Cech now ,not of late but over all now i think he is.

Sadly there seems to be quite a bit of animosity towards Bego, shame really as it clouds what a great payer and ambassador he has been for the club.Nobody really has a complete handle on what is happening behind the scenes. Bego to me seems like a decent pro in a sport riddled with tossers. I hope he gets a top club and I have a feeling that there will be times next season when we will be wishing he was still in between the sticks There should be absolutely no animosity towards Asmir. He's been a wonderful goalkeeper, a real ambassador for this club and comes across a real gentleman. We don't know what's going on behind the scenes and I'm not sure we should be speculating on his reasons for not being on the bench. There's no specualtion about it is there? Hughes has said he reacted badly to being told he was being dropped for the game in favour of Butland. He had always planned to give Butland the last couple of games of the season but brought it forward because of Bego's form. That's not speculation - that's in the public domain.

I really don't want bego leaving under a cloud but it's looking likely that he will, he seems to be coming across as a bit of a wanker.

I like Asmir. He is a great keeper, has been brilliant for Stoke, and deserves his shot at the highest level.
The element of this saga that I find disappointing, however, is the lack of respect he has shown towards Jack Butland. Jack has patiently sat on the bench waiting for his opportunity for some game time. I doubt we know the full story, but it appears Asmir felt he was too good to sit on the bench whilst Jack played. In that, he was wrong.

Most clubs don't spend big money on keepers, there's the odd one, but they normally already have all the experience, Bego has no Champions League experience, he isn't classed as top level, they'd see him as a punt.

8 mill is absolutely giving him away!! I'll be really disappointed if he goes for that. Should be 25 mil atleast..........and that's good value. He'll be an asset in any Champions League team. One of the best keepers in the world in my view.

Lots of speculation at the moment re goalkeepers at top clubs throughout Europe.
I'm guessing that once one deal goes ahead, there will be a "domino" effect and that will be our best chance to get a reasonable sum for Bego - if he goes and it does seem very likely.

One of the best keepers in the world in my view. Yes but his contract situation is driving his price down. That's why we need him to sign, not to keep him as if the big clubs want him (as number one) he will go anyway, but to keep his price high. However if (IF) he is asking for more than our other players that causes a different problem. Butland is ready. I think the club hasn't got much choice here but to take a low fee for him this summer. £8m is an absolute snip. Just maybe there might be a keeper merry go round at the big clubs this summer and we might get a bidding war going. Or maybe we can get some swap deal on.

£8 mill for Bego is way too short but after the last few weeks we aren't in the bargaining position. Maybe the first star we have lost since Thorne????

As long add it's not arsenal. I will welcome him back with genuine applause if he signs for another Premiership club.... As long as it's not Arsenal. I'll be ever so disappointed if he goes to Arsenal. It'll feel like a betrayal.

Bego has shown by his behaviour on the pitch that he can be a bit petulant. On a couple of occasions he has got overly upset with innocuous challenges from forwards and his resultant behaviour has been a little immature. This is consistent with his alleged behaviour at Shrewsbury and Swansea. I have no problem in letting him go. p.s. I think he is better than Cech and despite his poorer form this season I think he is one of the top 5 goalies in the league. 8MM is about right under the circumstances, although it could end up anywhere from zero to 10MM depending on demand.

If you doubled this £8 million fee ,then it would still be well short.
£20 million at least
United look like a deal has been done ,.

I'd say that he's worth around £15 million Mumf, although I hope he stays. I just hope he doesn't go to the Arse and make it more difficult for us to beat them when they come here next season.

All those saying 20 million + are living in cloud cuckoo land. With his contract situation and his appalling form this season 8 million is a good price.
