I think Hughes would be wrong....and I don't trust him with centre halves at all as things stand. He drops Muni at every given opportunity for no good reason and him letting Huth go was just stupid, football didn't play a part in the decision. Which I find disappointing. It's two games, one against the third best striker (imo) in world football. And even in that game I thought barring the first goal which was horrible don't get me wrong he played really quite well. You pinning the one where his hamstring pinged on him? I think even I'd let Wilson for that! And Geoff is the main culprit in the second. Didn't you see the shitty header that led to them getting away in the first place? As for not trusting Hughes when it comes to centre halves, you're talking about a bloke that signed samba, Nelson and then kompany, not to mention your hero, marc muniesa. Muniesa hasn't done enough to suggest that he is absolutely the answer to our problems at centre half and being culpable for 4 goals in 6 games isn't doing his chances any good either. He simply has to do better than he has been doing of late. As a defender, if you cost your team a goal, you haven't had a good game. Indeed and a bloke that has kept playing Wilson and seemingly didn't see it as an issue in the summer and kept him in the side. He's then sent a very good centre half out on loan when he shouldn't have done and seem hell bent on playing Wolly there despite the obvious flaws. We've improved immensely since Muni has come into the side and on the whole his inclusion has made us way more solid as a unit as he compliments Shawcross beautifully. And against Blackburn the bloke who should shoulder 99% of the blame is the manager. He was absolutely stupid. Beyond stupid in fact. People are going way ott about the defence in these last two games, I think we'd have lost both games if Ryan had played tbh. Whelan has been non-existent and the full backs offer no protection at all.

It is the sheer double standards on this that prompted the response as your love of all things muniesa is affecting your ability to comment constructively. You cant take the stance you do on Wilson and Cameron. (a stance I share) then not apply the same logic to the assessment of another players performance. If you take his mistakes out of the equation, Wilson has had loads of good games for Stoke. That is effectively what your saying for muniesa. But for his mistakes, he's played/playing well. If the manager takes that stance we'll never improve.

If the manager takes that stance we'll never improve. It really isn't, he's had two bad games, he just isn't an issue! The same goes for Wollscheid who has gone from the reincarnation of Beckenbauer to Sonko. He's neither, he's a generally decent centre back who should be cover at a club like ours and is available at a price that will allow that. It's all a load of bollocks from big girl's blouses who can't take a defeat! If he starts doing it consistently and it costs us lots of games I will change my mind but so far he hasn't and in general him coming into the side has made us look a whole lot solider. Because he does work so well with Shawcross. So no there's not double standards, I just don't think he's been playing badly (on the whole). The manager has fucked up massively with centre half in his tenure here and it's cost us being currently in the top 6/7 which I think is where we'd be if Muni started the season. Such is the good impact he's had on the nature of our side.

If sparky signs this clown then I think he needs shooting. Absolutely laughable his performance was. We are desperate to get Shawcross back in my opinion. We miss his comanding presence and aerial threat. I never seen our defence so weak in the air. Send Wollscheid back to Bayer now! I'd rather have wilko as cover. Good grief, I despair. Whenever we lose decisively we get garbage like this. Try watching the game and looking around at the situation before starting a thread such as this. Wolscheid was covering the wing when he was passed - he's our central defender. Who knocked the ball onto Crouch to score? Wolscheid Who constantly left his marker when Wolscheid covered the right? Bardsley - and Wolscheid was constantly trying to get him mark the player and not an open space, Butland was schtum. He has stepped into the breach and taken on the central defender role very well - MOTM a couple of weeks ago and was outstanding against Leicester, AND wasn't passed on the wing either! Wilko back in? Don't talk so bloody stupid, all he did on Saturday was hoof the ball up as Huth would do. Yes, send him back - we have an abundance of defenders at present. Where was Whelan and the defensive cover the last 2 games? AWOL Rant bloody over.

Plus we won at Leicester where he had a very good game on his debut
I hope that he wants to stay - I'm sure that some other Premiership Club would be grateful to have him on board
All of the back 4 players were pulled out of position / went walkabout at some point during the Blackburn game.

He is garbage and I hope they do send him back a season with him playing and we are relegated. He has no speed and his positioning is woeful .you could look good v Leicester they are useless!

I would imagine Sherwood's teamtalk will involve isolating Wolly with Benteke and any other player who can run more than 3 miles an hour on sat. Honestly though every manager in the prem worth their salt will be targeting his lack of pace and mobility before playing us. The games he has done well in have been without fast forceful forwards and we have got results in. You can now see why his previous club and most others in Germany would not touch him. Back up only for me

Wollscheid was excellent against Villa. My concern has been his lack of pace, but it didn't matter today. If we do sign him a little weight training would make him more complete player. The talent is clearly there, but physically he is still a work in progress.

Wollscheid was reading the game like a master today, saved two goal scoring opportunities and the one at the death had him close second for MOTM behind Pieters for me.

Played much better today and didn't buy into the high line.
He's slow and should accept it then defend accordingly.
He'll be fine if he does that.
