This is the way we play now and so we are bound to concede goals on the break or from 'pissing about with it at the back'
There wasn't a single player that didn't do their job though from what I can tell. They did what the manager wants them to do. Sometimes it comes off and sometimes it doesn't.
This is what you all wanted though - percentage football and predictability out of the window to be replaced with 'attacking' football.
Enjoy the ride.

I blame the fucking manager for not bringing in another decent centre half. I don't think we would have had half this shit if he had!

Is a full back giving the ball straight to one of theirs 'doing his job'? How about a ball-watching centre half?
It's not like the goals are invariably coming from us being caught high up the pitch every time, plenty of them this season have been rank bad individual errors.

if a striker makes a mistake we just dont score a goal, if a defender makes a mistake we invariabley concede a goal. I would suggest that our strikers made many more mistakes than our defenders at the weekend. Maybe we are blaming the wrong end of the pitch!

I enjoy it more than percentage football because it's better to watch most of the time, we score more goals, it's more exciting and , MOST IMPORTANTLY it brings better results as proved last season.
Carry on making shit up, it obviously makes you and your ilk feel a lot better.

He should have just walloped it and had a go at Sidwell but that is seen as a hate crime in the current Stoke set up.

First goal Saturday was as a direct result of 'getting rid' becoming a heinous crime for our club. I can't relate the first goal to "pissing around" at the back despite having re watched on several occasions. You are going to have to explain it to me. I also don't accept that "getting rid" has become a crime. There is simply no evidence for that statement. It is "got rid of" with regularity during any given game you wish to mention when circumstance dictates. What doesn't happen now is that it is "got rid of' as standard practice. It is retained far more regularly than in the past and anyone will surely applaud that?

The first goal was from pissing about at the back.
The second goal seemed to come from everyone being out of position and us getting caught.
We gave away a 2 goal lead v West Ham that started from us being too high up the field.
It is happening....
That said, the football at the end of last year and moments of this year have been wonderful...I would just rather us bring a bit of common sense to proceedings. ie don't try and play like Stoke Globetrotters before we've found our feet in the game and don't throw good positions away.
Take away the first 10-15 minutes away and we played pretty well... just nievely if you factor in the whole game.
I just don't see the point in us lambasting the defence or people like Arnie for problems that we bring on ourselves as a group.

Whereas the real reason is that the defence was initially all over the place as a result of one of them being injured, and another one only arriving back in the UK from the States the day before - and starting for the first time in the Premiership as a centre half.
They do piss around with the ball too much at the back - but at least they don't just wellie it every time.

OK however we've only scored 6 in 6 home games. Lowest home tally was 21 in 2012/3 so we're not really cooking with gas right now. Best away goals was 16 in 2008/9 which we will better

We seemed complacent at the beginning, like we only had to turn up to win, it was shambolic for 15 minutes but as you say after that it was a pretty decent performance. Bojan in particular was sublime. BM

There were some individual errors involved in both goals - it happens throughout a game but doesn't always result in goals conceded. When Muniesa lost possession we had plenty of players back but none of them did their jobs particularly well
Burnley's pressing high up the pitch helped them create the opportunities - so credit to them for that
For the second goal I think the team were guilty of not showing Burnley sufficient respect - no proper cover when Bardsley lost the challenge. That said, the scorer managed to lose his marker for both goals - so someone wasn't doing his job
When you have changes at the back it takes a while for the defence to gel so I wouldn't be writing anyone off just yet. What I would say is that when play breaks down, some players were not getting back as they should. With a new defence in place the team should have been less cavalier from the start

I've mentioned this fact on another thread. The second goal came about after a shocking decision by another inept linesman. What was clearly a Stoke throw in, was given to Burnley. I know after that , we should have done better, but that mistake changed the whole impetuous of the game. We were sat right above where the decision took place, and I for one could not believe that he got it wrong. It wasn't even close to being a Burnley throw in. As well as the referees, these linesmen cock up on a regular basis. Away from that, a centre back and a striker are a must for me.

The first goal, from what I saw, was a result of a run of individual errors - Muniesa should have been more composed under pressure, Bardsley and Bego should have communicated.
I think you've got to blame the chopping and changing of the back four that we've been forced into - at times it was clear Shawcross was getting wound up with their lack of shape.
That being said, we had 25 goal attempts. 25. If we can't stick at least an equaliser away with that many then that's really very poor. I've got to agree with previous posters - whilst you can't excuse conceding cheap goals, it's our inability to punish at the other end that's the biggest problem.

We're trying to play a style of football that is easier on the eye, more entertaining and PROVEN to get better results.
Massive injury problems, stop start nature to the season and players being away have undermined us this season, yet we are still 11th. We've had some shit results but we've had some outstanding ones.
All people are looking for is an excuse either to batter the manager or individual players. It's fucking rotten to the core and their views aren't worth a wank. We've gone from spending £25million a season to nothing but somehow expectations have never been higher. Work that out Poirot.

I'm excusing Hughes because, despite all the cards being stacked against him, he's doing a terrific job. The previous manager had EVERYTHING in his favour but still failed to produce results as good as the current boss.
