I ain't gonna defend the indefensible, as some try. I've said on other threads they were all shit (apart from maybe Bojan). That's not true either. N'zonzi, sidwell, bojan and shawcross were all excellent. Moses and Arnie, whilst the final ball was poor each got at, and beat, their fullback regularly. Neither hid despite not being at their excellent best. Maybe after thought shit was harsh and your right, I was just deflated. I just thought that there was no umph, nobody tried to grab the game and try and win it.

His lackadaisical attempt to stop the cross that they scored the second from, while leaving geoff with two men, which he in turn marked neither, is just one of many examples of the team being caught out. Funny how when anything goes wrong it's always everyone but Ryan and bego, but they were both poor as well as muni, phil, and geoff. Lack of preparation and teamwork plus shite individual performances all across the backline did us in.

Sums yourself up too. Anyway what minute was it Ryan took that.,,,well you know the rest. Fcuking hideous defending of a gaffer you keep sticking up for. It'll make ya bad wezzer make ya bad. Why shouldn't Ryan take a corner? On the evidence of Saturday and Sunderland, he crosses the ball better than most of our players anyway and he never looks like scoring himself so why not? It was the sheer embarrassment of it all that no one looked in the slightest bit interested in taking it and was even more embarrassing that no one still bothered after the captain was so obviously wanting/expecting someone else to take it. Maybe he shouldn't have been so surprised judging by his after match comments of 'not switching on in the week, and leading up to it in training' after been asked by Nigel Johnson as to why the sloppiness?. To me it smacked of him exposing a lack of professionalism by believing we just need to turn up in order to turn these supposed lesser teams over in what seems to be the norm at the Brit these days, and not just that of a disappointed captain at a bitterly disappointing defeat because he could quite easily have come across as disappointed without the need to say anything about what had happened in the build up to that match. Edit - Without those comments from Ryan I'd still be trying fathom it out.

Edit - Without those comments from Ryan I'd still be trying fathom it out. Shawcross was nearest the ball, we were chasing a goal, a short corner was on and it made complete sense for him to take it. We all know the real reason people are pissing their knickers over this. For 10 years we have it drummed in to us that we should be taking 10 minutes over each set piece. We all should know Ryans' place for a corner should be in the box, grappling with the opposition. Woe betide some quick thinking to get the game moving. It's pathetic, but not unexpected from the individuals who can't get their head around football.

Next week, Striker in goal saving tackle shocker! Why didn't a defender make that tackle I can't fathom it? Granted Diouf was nearest to the player in question, but its a defenders job. Hughes has lost the dressing room!

I don't want Arnie taking corners anyway, he's shite at them.
The problem at the back this season is that the decision making is awful. See the first goal on Saturday, it's prevented by hitting it down the line, it was the only ball on. The decision was made and it was a right poor one.

It is worth noting that our best chance of the 2nd half came from that corner (Crouch's header than Sidwell just couldn't reach at the back post). Get Ryan on corners more often I say!

Ryan put one of our 4 (Bojan did the others) only good crosses in the game in the first half.
Which kind of sums up why we deserved absolutely fuck all from the game......

Well johnno what about Ryan's after match comments or anyone else for that matter who quoted my post but failed to answer it?. I've commented elsewhere on that. No need to do so here. The corner thing is laughable though and just an excuse to take a dig at Arnie. Arnie took up the same position on every corner and with 80 odd minutes on the clock, rushing was unnecessary. I don't see how its his fault. Why not criticise Bojan for not taking it. He was as close as Arnie but took up his regular position on the day as well. At that time, Bardsley was on corner duty (Adam hadn't come on at that point) and having just taken a corner on the right, he was making his way over to the left to take that one. So much so, it was Bardsley that Ryan played it short to. What did you make of our players fighting over who takes a penalty and Pulis admitting that they don't prepare or plan for penalties, the easiest chance of getting a goal you'll have? What did you make of our manager head butting one of our players during the Pulis reign? What did you make of our star player hitting our captain and getting sent off under Pulis stewardship? Peddle your agenda elsewhere because your double standards really know no bounds.

A dig at Arnie, yes you're correct but it wasn't only just a dig at him but if you feel it was only directed at him then fair enough. Regards headbutting 'if it did happen' then inexcusable but then again I never made light of that anyway. Regards Fuller slapping his captain 'or anyone else for that matter' unacceptable to do it. So you see Dave I don't have and never have had agendas.

Knowing and preparing your teams to know who takes penalties is probably more important than knowing who is going to take an 80th minute corner when subs had been made but I don't remember any snide criticism of that manager for not preparing his team properly. As for Saturday's corner, Bardsley was on corner duty and was running over to take it, having just taken one on the opposite side of the pitch (something Moses did several times during the game). Reference the corner, whatever points you want to try and score, be it against Arnie or Hughes, are pretty laughable really. I missed your post from days ago as to why you would defend Pulis no matter what. Surely defending the indefensible is evidence of agendas. Otherwise you'd just comment as you see it???

As I remember it, what Tony Pulis said was that he didn't have a set penalty taker, but preferred to let whoever wanted it the most at the time to take it. A valid approach. You can accuse Pulis of many things, but not being well planned is not one of them! Over planned sometimes, maybe.

Is it possible he then thought that they're not switched on regards this too thus further fuelling his frustration?... I could well be a mile of in what I say as no one will ever know only the lad himself, but laughable - most certainly not.

No one on that side of the pitch knew but Bardsley did because he was en route to take it straight away. Ryan ended up playing it short to Bardsley, who gave it back to Ryan, who played in Bojan who crossed to Crouch for a free header at goal which he fluffed. It was our best corner of the game.
