I'm a little bit concerned about it been a 2 year contract, personally I would have preferred a 1 year contract with a view to a second based in appearances, good behavior ect.
Though I think this is a very strong indication that we're going to stick with 4-4-2 rather then 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1. Pennant isn't a goal scoring midfielder or the type to come inside and have a shot.

Anyone else know of any jobs going where I can work hard for a month or two for a few grand a week and then thereafter become a bit of a lad but continue picking up my fat wedge?.

Would you all rather watch Michael Kightly - or Ryan Shotton or, 'dog with a balloon' (Jon Walters) play out wide for us ?
if you do, having witnessed last seasons 'nightmares' - you're all quite, quite mad

We are clearly going to bring in one, if not two, new wingers. So it's a false choice to say it's JP or the highway. No-one denies he did very well for us overall before his divorce with Pulis. But his last real contributions for us were in 2011. And he's 31 in January, and we just don't know what physical condition he is in, or what frame of mind he's in. You don't see many 30+ wingers starring in the Premier League. And that's before you get on to the debate about his alleged shenanigans.

Well I've just spoke to the page owner of Stoke Loud & Proud on FB and he screen shotted the conversation with his informant and it's looks genuine to me.
Personally thinks its great news, however I would still search for another winger, to stiffen up competition on the wings

I was having a look around Clayton Woods earlier and Jermaine Pennant was wandering about.
I thought something must have been sorted, as he was walking away from the manager's office and didn't look like he was leaving.

IF this is true ... is raises all sorts of questions doesn't it.
Damning indictment of TP's man-management skills??
Has Sparky been told to cut the spending?
Formations?
Or is it just a cheap gamble? Why two years though?

Lets hope we get that player of the season he promised us. Wilko is a far better player too when JP is in front of him. Hope its true

On a cheap deal, Pennant is still an asset... and certainly better than what we have!

Pennant is a good player, very few stoke fans doubt that, he's just a rotten egg who has a track record of being unsettled where ever he goes. I'm pleased he's signed (if its for a reasonably moderate wage) but I don't want us to EVER have to rely on his service again. If he fucks about again, it puts us in an awkward situation. We either let him get away with murder or we punish him at the expense of the team. Neither is good enough for me

Is the bigger picture worrying? Can't we find anyone better? Can't we afford anyone better?
Is self sufficiency biting so hard we have to take risks with troublesome players?

For those who call Pennant a troublemaker and a liability I would offer this:
Has he (Pennant) ever embarressed the club and its entire support ON the pitch like one of our more recent so called 'Legends' I could mention ?
answer to that is no - actually
So - why is one guy a legend and the other a rank troublemaker who should be drummed out of our club for falling out with our previous 'issue' ridden manager ?
(all I want is a bit of balance when we discuss such issues - and Pennant deserves another chance on the basis we might actually have got a real class player back in our squad for relative 'buttons'.)
(I wouldve thought he would be hungry to prove himself also - just like our new manager)

Happy with that on a free, like a new signing just as long as we get another 2 wingers in as well

Poor decision. A troublemaker who we don't need at the club. Better and younger out there.

If it is true, I'd hope to see Ethers and Kightly moved on - and 2 new wingers come into the fold to compete with Shea and Pennant.
I'm finding it hard to get enthused about this one.

The 'form is temporary' stuff isn't necessarily true either. Ask Jonathan Woodgate.
