Nowhere near as good as Pennant, sorry to say.
He did ok, but ok at best.

I said at the start of the season I'd judge him after 10 games as people thought I was harsh for saying he's too much of a head down player. As it is nothing is changing my Mind, defensively he helps out well, but going forward he's got to learn to Pick his head up an finding stoke players

Nowhere near as good as Pennant, sorry to say. He did ok, but ok at best. So frustrating that Pennant seems to be gone. On form he gave us so much. Sadly Kights isn't half the player JP is, having said that nor is he half the twat that JP would appear to be.

Nowhere near as good as Pennant, sorry to say. He did ok, but ok at best. Had plenty of game time and overdue a performance. Shown nothing above average up to now. Nearly gave away a goal today and missed a half decent chance second half.

I get him mixed up with walters, which pretty much sums him up. And they have the same shaved head!

He's only a poor mans Pennant for the two or three games per season that Pennant plays well. It's sad to see JP not involved but I don't think we've particularly missed him and after the reasonable start we've had I don't really see the need to dig out a player that's performed pretty damned well.

Is it just me who really likes him then? He was what we were crying out for last season. Picks up the ball and got one thing on his mind.....run at the full back. Works 100% every game both going forward and going back.

As a fan that likes attacking play i like the look of kightly , Pennant is a player i admire but personally i feel he lets us down in too many occasions. Kightly gives 100% pennant as much as i stuck up for him and defended him last season didnt and that sums him up for me

He's a wider player who cuts inside, which works quite decently with how we've been playing this season, as opposed to our other wide players who are generally more conventional wingers and stay on the flanks. He's generally not been bad this season, though, certainly not enough to deserve the capitalization and extra question marks.

Quicker than Pennant, more direct, works harder, gets more shots on goal. Good last week and this iand fits the new system well. Pennant is not the right man for this system but Kightly is, very good acquisition. Pennant is history for Stoke, we have moved on and have better players and a new system

I must be one of few who thinks he's a cracking player with a lot to offer us. I think he's played really well and certainly shown more ability than other wingers in our squad. Excluding Penno of course.

Would much rather see Pennant and Matty or Kightly on the flanks (with Walters in the hole) than what we're getting at the moment.

Surprised he's being criticised tbh.

Wtf? He's been quality for us so far, hes doing what ethers did in the 10/11 season, we've been missing flank runs and cut in's for a while now, long may his game continue.

He might not be quite the best winger in the squad but as long as he obeys club curfews, keeps a rein on his tweets and lets a sober mate drive when he goes out on the town, we might just be on to a winner.

He's doing OK, not spectacular but very steady.
Always busy and put the cross in for the first goal.

Pennant turns up a few games and the rest of the time he offers nothing.
Plus he's just a bellend and not good for the dressing room.
Everywhere he's been he's done well first season only to end up fucking it up by being a dickhead and then quickly moved on.

I agree that Kightly hasn't really performed up to the standard we could hope for. Started brightly in the last friendlies before the season and had a good game against Reading. After that I think he has really tried hard without creating too much for the team. Hardly ever gets past his man to deliver crosses into the box any longer, and seems to have lost his shooting boots too. Hopefully he can do something about this as it's easy to see the boy has potential.

Would much rather see Pennant and Matty or Kightly on the flanks (with Walters in the hole) than what we're getting at the moment. So you would rather we revert to players we had last year, who were the key reasons why we had so little creativity? after all the moaning yourself and others did over the summer about needing to change things?

I see Kightly as ideal cover for our two existing wingers!
However, he seems to be the second name on the teamsheet at the moment, just behind Walters in the pecking order for the frontline positions in the team.
I haven't been impressed to date. He is another willing worker of limited ability with little or no pace. Just like the bloke playing on the opposite wing at the moment, despite those advocating that he is in the form of his life!

I think Jon played really well yesterday but I'm of the opinion that the team could look better still with Pennant and Ethers in the wide berths.
