Not after anyones personal opinion on these but I was wondering if there are any of you that post on here who were members of the 2 groups of supporters who fought for our club as to say. If so I would be extremely interested to speak to you...... on an anonymous level if you wish it to be..... I am looking to ask a few questions on how you got into it and why, nothing to serious but it will help allot into the research I am currently doing on hooliganism and football.
If you wouldn't mind participating then please drop me a PM

No I am not a journo. I am a student looking into the effects of football hooliganism. Supported Stoke all my life and I am not looking to get anyone into trouble or bring bad light on the club. My work will not be naming any sources or any groups used it would just be alot more interesting to have first hand opinions on the matter.

Offense at the fact that pricks have to come on here dragging up the past. Peoples lives have been ruined and even lost as a result of football violence. They were a bunch of pissed up wankers breaking the law and dragging this club into the mud.
Idiots like you who think its good to bring them up on this message board which will perpetuate the myths of their"great deeds" and keep a very sad piece of stokes history alive.
There are plenty of books out there and some very sad documenteries by that prick danny dier.
Keep these pricks off this message board.

Mate, here's a paragraph for your high school essay." A bunch of wankers who only hunted scarfers in packs brought disgrace on our football club and the city in general. In addition, the antics of these hunt in packs tossers caused untold mither for genuine fans who had to have ID cards in order to go to away matches. This bunch of cunts were not interested in football, they did it for the city as they would have you believe. They wore catalogue clothing and would run a mile when real hooligans came a calling" Now get yer homework done.

Apart from you obviously not reading the initial question I asked you to jeep personal opinion out of this discussion as it was a question of help from those who were former members of the 2 groups.
GHH- cheers for that it is a shame that I am not allowed to include obscene language into any form of report. I will be looking into other effects that hooliganism had and still has on people a little later on in my research. Would it be possible to contact you via a pm when I reach that stage to have a well mannered conversation on your thoughts?
And where else am I going to get first hand information? The message boards of football clubs are the only first hand source at my disposal at this minute in time.
Thank you to those who have replied.

Guys, although nobodies proud of this part of Stokes otherwise great history, Meggsy is clearly just wanting to learn about it, not to glorify it. Some really harsh replies and answers on this thread. You can't just ignore that it ever happened, that's the kind of thing nazis do about the holocaust (obviously i'm not comparing the two, just how people react to certain things). We should openly talk about the grim reality of football hooliganism and viooloence so that we never see it again, as it's becoming all to common to hear young people talk about it in a positive way because they think Danny Dyer is ace and watch too many film glorifying it...

I spent a decade living a certain kind of way at the match and i wouldnt have changed it for the world.
Anyone who spent days on the terraces of the old clock end,the anny road end and the kippax as a Stokie will know what its like to be terrorised at a football match.
When the youth of the early 80s organised stoke to travel together it all changed.
Stokies could travel anywhere as from then.
We all have our views but god knows what would have happened at brum without the N40 type that riot day.
i would go as far as to say a lot of stokies visited a lot of grounds that would not of prior to N40. Just my view though.
