The "it's looking grim" thread summed up so many on this board.
Yet despite many posters telling them time and time again that nothing happens in June, players, agents, staff are on holiday, transfers normally start in July..
They kept up there daily moan that no-one had been signed, coates out, Neil out, Neil's cronies out, worst run club in the country, guaranteed relegation this season.
It is pure embarrassing to read and see how some see the world as black and white, where scfc would say we want that player, that player should immediately jump to sign for Stoke, regardless of their current club contract, or there current club not giving them permission to speak to us, or even their family not wanted to up sticks and move again.. and don't mention if stoke take time to try and negotiate a better price... its all no ambition stoke, no clue Coates, tricky dickue out.
Have patience and enjoy the ride.

It is worse than last year, if that is possible in terms of quality/quantity: At the moment we have 2 viable central defenders in the squad when most teams/squads have 5 or 6 - now less than a week to kick-off. Zero players in the team that can defend a cross or a decent header of the ball. We need a big commanding CB, and better quality/quantity across the whole defensive line. Doesn't really matter what is happening in front of that defence, you cant build a house on quick sand. In the last window the club moved on 2 of the 3 viable central defenders we had in the squad - effectively just leaving Wilmott and a 40+ year-old to play every game in the second half of the season and both ended up injured - suicidal in my opinion - It was my biggest worry going into the window that once again the defence would be neglected - given what has gone on before - and nothing has happened to alleviate that worry so far The club have been incredibly busy in getting 10 players in before the end of July, despite the doom and gloom on the "its looking grim " thread. There's still 4 weeks to go until the window shuts.. be patient, trust AN and the new look transfer team. The team will get new centre backs. The squad will have better balance than the last 5 years.. keep the faith. |

After much hype Campbell played against Leicester away, and Wes Morgan had him in his pocket. Very much man against not ready boy that day. |

This chat about loan players not caring is nonsense. I'd wager almost every promoted team for the last decade filled their loan slots. And a goalkeeper looking to improve and impress is as ideal as they get. The perms will come. .yeah, pretty sure our promotion season had a number of loans, they came in on short deals to do a job and get us over the line. Think we even got a l9an keeper in to replace simonson towards end of season. |

I really can’t believe if we signed 10 players the team would get into the play off… Need another 12 months How can you even talk about play offs…???? Don't think the number of new players is an issue, forest last year bought 20+ players and added them to an already large squad and still stayed up. Give em 4 to 6 weeks to bed in and they'll be fine. Teams who hit the top at end of August rarely stay there.. |

Not talking about Sobhi, i'm just talking about new players in general. Some of our fans give them 10 minutes and instantly label them as useless. I remember being at Arnies first game (Man City at home I think) he came on as a sub and had a free kick and hit it over and a couples blokes were giving it "what a useless waste of money that is" 🤣 It's like they can't wait to write someone off. Oh fair enough, I agree, plenty get written off before they're even on the pitch. That goal was phenomenal. The composure and skill to take the ball that distance and to beat every man he came against clearly showed he's a very talented attacking full back. The finish was just the icing on top of the cake at that point. He might not be the complete article defensively, but there is definitely a great player there, and I see no reason at all why he can't develop that side of his game. Look forward to having him back, and I would hope we try to push a perm deal or a loan with a view to perm. If we’re saying this about Hoever, then why can’t the same logic apply to Tymon? Seems like some folk are readily tolerating this from one player but not the other. Probably because tyman has had 2 or 3 seasons playing at championship level and still hasn't improved his defensive game, whereas hoever has had 14 games so there is hope he will develop this side of his game. |
