I sometimes think bands don’t make it big because of the name they’ve given themselves. !!! Being one of them. Great band, shit name.

But completely up their own arse If they weren't as big probably wouldn't have noticed what shitty arse flaps they are and possibly would like more of their music I so hope this is true, and not one of those urban myths... U2 in concert in Glasgow, music stops and Bono swaggers to the front of the stage and starts slow clapping.... " Every time I clap my hands, a child in Africa dies" Bloke on the front row yells " Well stop clapping then ya cunt " I think that's paraphrased from a Paul Calf joke.

There's some bollocks answers on here. cdf with the 1975 is the most spot on so far. They are absolutely fucking shit I'll go Travis Scott. Apropiatte band name though as it was a shit year for music along with 1997 Dig Your Own Hole, Homework, Fat of the Land, OK Computer, Urban Hymns, Telling Stories, Vanishing Point, In it for the Money Great year for me.

New order from Blue Monday onwards (New Order prior to Blue Monday were great) The Jam from Eton Rifles onwards (The Jam prior to Eton Rifles were also great) The Cure from love cats onwards (The Cure prior to Love Cats were very good) Many bands make their best stuff prior to making it big, after that they become smug, rich, parodies of their younger selves. Oh, and Daft Punk are absolutely wank Jesus Hates Christ.

Went to watch Master Peace at Night and Day in Manchester. This lad could be massive and rightly so. Just him and a backing track plus a guitarist who to be frank, needs to take back seat. If the main man gets a tight band together he could be a staple of European festivals. Was a great gig.
Happened to be on the same night as The Pixies at Albert Hall and Mandrake Handshake at Gullivers. Turns out Master Peace finished early and MH started late so managed to see both, the girl on the door wasn't arsed so got in for free although I did give over the odds for a poster. I'd have asked them to sign it but I'd have been there for hours there was that many of them in the band.
MH were brilliant. If they were Australian they'd be massive.

I listened to every UK number one ever in a row from 1952 to about 2005. That's brilliant mate - kudos! 👏 Cheers mate. Might pick it up again if I can be arsed. Takes longer than you'd imagine lol

1970s 1990s 1960s 1980s 2010s 2000s 2020s 1950s about right but i do not care for this century's music. as such i would put the 50s higher elvis chuck berry everley brothers buddy holly sam cooke isley brothers chuck berry little richard artists that layed the foundation for what was to come. pisses over the 2000s I listened to every UK number one ever in a row from 1952 to about 2005. The early to late 50's were very hard going tbh. 70s most enjoyable. Back end of the 90s and start of the 2000s were also a slog due to the amount of Westlife/Boyzone number ones. Speaking of which, 'A different Beat' by Boyzone stood out as the worst number one I listened to, just absolute fucking dirge. I'd still take the 2000s over the 50s, some great pop, Indie (mostly American) and dance music from that decade.

Shania Twain is on the Sunday PM slot so not the same as Macca and Elton. I've always avoided going because of the sheer size. I'd probably hate every minute. I prefer smaller, more niche festivals like End of the Road and Green Man. Never fancied it myself either. Just the sheer size of it puts me off and I know it would piss it down the year I'd go. Gimme a 60k festival abroad that's easy to get around with a hotel bed at the end of the night and I'm happy enough watching Glasto on the telly.

Which ones would you go and watch? If they were playing local for example. I honestly wouldn’t pay to watch one single act on that list Long live the closed minded.

You couldn’t pay me to watch that lot let alone remortgage the house to afford to go. Scandalous. I’m sure it’ll be full of middle class, purple haired banner wavers though so all good for the organisers Which ones would you go and watch? If they were playing local for example.

Emily Eavis backed herself into a corner with two female headliner nonsense and now the headliners look really poor. She obviously had some high profile rejections from Madonna and Stevie Nicks and ended up with SZA who nobody’s heard of. There’s so many female artists across the festival that I’m not sure it’s necessary to force the two female headliners narrative until it can happen naturally. She’s already said there will be 3 in 2026. Plenty of good bands and artists for me to watch. Jungle and Fontaines DC as well as Paul Heaton on the main stage. She only said there was 2 female headliners in the last week or so? Edit - I stand corrected. She said it in November. Yeah pretty stupid thing to do.

Dua Lipa - definitely deserves to be there.
Coldplay - I don't mind them but they're bringing absolutely nothing new to the table
SZA - probably the least heard of headline act for a while. Couldn't name you one song and I've listened to her album last year as well. Rumour is that she was a late replacement for Stevie Wonder
Rest of the line up is pretty stacked as usual. LCD Soundsystem on the main stage is a strange one, despite them being ace.

Minstrels turned into the Pig and Truffle around 1995 I think. Bars around there were Leadbellys, Trinitys, Quenchers, which was later Millionaires then the Tube. Also had Revolution, Fluid, and Chicago Rock Cafe as well as the Junction, Manhattans and Harpers (I think) a bit further into Hanley plus loads I've probably forgotten, plus of course Valentinos, the Place, Chicos etc. And that's just Hanley.
For numerous valid reasons, the generation behind us just don't go out as much as we did. It's a real shame.

It's not very good, however the quality has improved from our first two or three years in this league since relegation. It was absolutely atrocious then.

To be fair to to the absolute wankers, we were affected by the child benefit threshold change so we're 150 quid a month better off than we were last month when we had to opt out of it, so that was a surprise.
Pretty ineffective budget aside from that.
