Glastonbury line-up 2024 Dua Lipa, Coldplay, SZA and Shania Twain top the bill What on earth has happened to this once amazing festival, now its just watered down sugary candy pop shit?I know theres a lot of other things going on but to me its sold its soul.

That is by far the worst headline acts ever at Glasto. I mean Coldplay, again?! They've already headlined about half a dozen times, or close to it. It feels like when the organisers struggle to find or afford anyone different, they turn to Coldplay as a backup plan.

Dua Lipa - definitely deserves to be there.
Coldplay - I don't mind them but they're bringing absolutely nothing new to the table
SZA - probably the least heard of headline act for a while. Couldn't name you one song and I've listened to her album last year as well. Rumour is that she was a late replacement for Stevie Wonder
Rest of the line up is pretty stacked as usual. LCD Soundsystem on the main stage is a strange one, despite them being ace.

Emily Eavis backed herself into a corner with two female headliner nonsense and now the headliners look really poor. She obviously had some high profile rejections from Madonna and Stevie Nicks and ended up with SZA who nobody’s heard of.
There’s so many female artists across the festival that I’m not sure it’s necessary to force the two female headliners narrative until it can happen naturally. She’s already said there will be 3 in 2026.
Plenty of good bands and artists for me to watch. Jungle and Fontaines DC as well as Paul Heaton on the main stage.

She only said there was 2 female headliners in the last week or so? Edit - I stand corrected. She said it in November. Yeah pretty stupid thing to do.

You couldn’t pay me to watch that lot let alone remortgage the house to afford to go. Scandalous. I’m sure it’ll be full of middle class, purple haired banner wavers though so all good for the organisers

It feels like when the organisers struggle to find or afford anyone different, they turn to Coldplay as a backup plan. It will be 8 years since they last played. Ithey put on a good headline act I’m sure they tried to get the legends or best headliners they could

I honestly wouldn’t pay to watch one single act on that list Long live the closed minded. It isn’t a closed mind. The ones I’ve heard of I don’t like and the ones I haven’t heard of I wouldn’t pay to watch without listening to them. It’s pretty simple. You like them, that’s fine🤷🏻♂️

Still going to try for a resale ticket. Most people who go to Glastonbury don't go for the headline acts and that listing is less than a tenth of what's on. If it's putting people off that's great - more chance of getting a ticket.

Must admit there's not a lot I'd bother going to see or even heard of on that list but I guess it reflects the present music scene in much the same way as festivals have always done. I'm sure there's plenty of hidden gems tho if you're prepared to have a look around. Then there's Spotify if you want to " sample before you buy " which we never had back in the day.

Part of the fun of Festivals for me is enjoying a band or act that I have never heard of before.
Ive not heard of most of these, but at my age I wouldn't expect to and it would be sad if I had. I wouldn't expect Glastonbury, or any festival to be a 70's or 80's tribute for example.
They have always had pop stuff, Elton John and Paul McCartney were pop once I seem to remember.

Elton last year, Macca the year before, Shania Twain isnt anywhere near the status of that pair
in fact in terms of headliners its the worst i have seen in many a year, some of the acts on the smaller stages look interesting, glad im not going this year now
last years Rick Astley set was outstanding he should close the show every year he can!!!

Shania Twain is on the Sunday PM slot so not the same as Macca and Elton. I've always avoided going because of the sheer size. I'd probably hate every minute. I prefer smaller, more niche festivals like End of the Road and Green Man.

Gimme a 60k festival abroad that's easy to get around with a hotel bed at the end of the night and I'm happy enough watching Glasto on the telly.

Glastonbury used to be unique, not anymore, it’s just like all the other shitty festivals but now they’ve also added box ticking and politically correct line ups, it’s ruining the festival circuit! … call me a cliche spewing gammon all you like but it’s wank.

It's huge but because there are so many stages it feels like a hundred small/medium sized festivals that happen to be in the same area at the same time. There are some places that get rammed at certain times (Pyramid stage for the headliners, "naughty corner" just after the main acts have finished) but if that's not what you want just go somewhere else. As others have said it really isn't about the headliners and every time I've been I've discovered stuff I would never have got into otherwise.
