No. I'm a supporter. Seen far worse than this. I have also seen far worse than the present but I would never berate anyone who decides to stop going. I honestly can't ever see me walking away,I still look forward to games nearly as much as I've ever done but the result doesn't effect my mood too much.(Can't say the same about Grandson though, struggled to speak after Tuesday's match but he'll be battle hardened soon.)

I don't attend as many matches anymore due to illness'but when I manage to get to a game and the team walks out I get all emotional because I'm happy to be there and proud to support my team. It doesn't bother me as much when we lose,it's a meh moment and I move on. There are more things in life to get upset about unfortunately. Whether you go to games or not we all follow the same club and will always do so. It's like being married and never being able to get divorced.

I thought it may have been yourself but as time gone on I think you are younger than that person. On subject the result does affect my mood for 24 hours but as other have said once its in your blood it is for life. In my area I know a school friend who is a Stoke supporter like myself since 1970 he goes a few times a season. I have started to watch a local non league team as well (when not at Stoke games) and its great meet old colleagues/friends have a pint and banter and just enjoy the game and not affected by the result.

Went to my first match in 50s. League Cup Final win in 73Watched us win 5-0 at Boro with our youngest ever team most recently. The guy next to me said this is the best since the last FAC semi-final. It's for those moments you keep going. The conga at Barnsley in MON's first game proved to be a false dawn. If we had won 3-0 last night which we could have been at half-time, this MB would be in ecstasy today. 1 match means nothing. I'll be there on Saturday. Who were you watching. Stoke won it in 72 Oops- memory fade.

I don't get this pain and despair about losing. I suggest those that do find another interest. I started watching regularly in the 60s and got used to going with full expectation of victory and being disappointed, that's sport. No team is a constant winner. I lived with a Man City fan when I was at university in the 60s, he was rejoicing their success under Mercer and he hated Man U. Naturally I was jealous of their success but Stoke's turn came in the 70s and again a decade ago. I have thought regularly of that Man C fan over the years as they yo-yoed up and down the league, dropping to the 3rd tier and enduring Man U's success under Ferguson. I am happy for him now he has something to crow about, but it will not last. I'd rather support a club like Stoke than the big city glory hunters whose clubs spend £100m s and still fail to win. How desperate it must be for Spurs and Everton fans having their hopes dashed every season. Stoke went wrong when we started spending £10s millions on garbage players and the rot set in. We will turn the corner one day, keep the faith.

Last Blackburn away game I went to was the Jacob Brown 1-0 game….think that was after covid though Agree, it can affect your mood, I was seriously pissed off on Friday night and thoughtbit was going to affect my whole weekend, but got over it yesterday and ended up having a good day. Occasionally go to Bradford or even Silsden afc but usually not when Stoke are playing as it doesnt feel right. You are right about attending local non league games, ishould do it more

It’s certainly hard work at times but don’t think I will ever stop going , still have a season ticket for the craic with the lads before and after , don’t go as many away games now , probs about 6-8 a season , I did get called a w@kner on Friday for leaving early , he was obviously a far superior support than I am 🙄

Strange feeling for everyone two years ago I decided after having a season ticket for 40 years it was time to not get depressed for the weekend so I didn't renew then this year decided again to get a season ticket and to be honest it's not enjoyable it doesn't feel the same so i will probably pick my games this season allow friends to choose if they want to go when I don't, there is definitely a life away from Stoke and it's nice not to get angry and depressed

The problem I have is that not only are the results depressing I find the football a really hard watch. I’m either bored or a nervous wreck for 95% of most games and neither sensation makes for a pleasurable experience. I think I’ve disconnected more and more over the past few seasons mainly as a self defence mechanism 🙂

I used to be a regular season ticket holder, right back to when I was a kid and seeing some of the most recent of the dark and dull days of the last 30 odd years. For many reasons including work I didn’t renew season ticket whilst still in the prem and started going to ad-hoc games but intensely following via radio/tv/streaming etc.
Since our demise and overall decline it’s timed with my family and work commitments growing further and I started to not have the time available for the games, but I’ve not been missing the club or the matches as much as I used to (unsurprisingly perhaps). In our current situation I just can’t let myself get frustrated or otherwise with everything that’s going on, I’ve got my weekends and it almost feels neither here nor there when we get done over 3-1 at home, which does feel strange - but it’s for the better of my own mind right now.
If I was still a season ticket holder and being as intensely involved as I once was I would be seriously questioning why I’d continue on that path. But it’s difficult to just let go like that.
But what I would say to anyone is that it’s just a game at the end of the day, nobody should ever feel angry or have any negative feelings about ruined weekends etc - it’s not worth it. If you feel that bad then a break from it is an ideal start

The M6 back to Manchester would be the only reason for me to stop going, shite again last night…. M6 was shocking, then the M62 closed 18-20 so ended up going via Burnley and home at 2am. Miserable night on and off the pitch. Got caught out by that bastard closure yesterday morning on my way home to Otley. The diversion signs are utterly shocking as well. I gave up trying to follow them so I must've gone a similar route to you which was to head up the M66 towards Burnley then aim for Skipton to get to Ilkley.

Total respect for those who go week in week out.
Lifeblood of the club.
Equally those who’ve dedicated so much time and money to the cause are fully justified in considering walking away.
It’s pretty shit all round but I wonder would the halcyon PL days have felt quite so special without the horrendous years we suffered before?

This thread is a bit ridiculous, if people want to “ walk away” that’s fine, it’s your choice, you really don’t need absolution. However, if you want to stay ( like myself) that’s also fine. It’s really a personal choice. There’s no rights or wrongs.

Would be easy for me to walk away. Live in the US and chose to support Stoke. But why? I picked my team and I will stick with them till I'm gone. I could jump to Man City and no one would know or care, but again, why? It's sport, you have ups and downs. That is the joy and disappointment of it, just like life! I spend money on season streaming servies and the occasional shirt.
