He genuinely thinks he’s a football man though. The evidence was there when he stuck himself on the football operations board back in the MON & Cousins days. That was a massive red flag for me. What do you think happens next? Pelach gets time, but it's not beyond the realms of possibility we'll need another new manager soon. If we lose to Boro, Portsmouth and Swansea, everything looks very ugly. Got to win one of those 3 to keep some semblance of sanity 3 draws would be solid Draw win and a defeat would be normal Anything better would be great 1 draw 2 defeats would be alarming 3 defeats and surely that would be at the very least extremely alarming

The difference this time is we aren’t skint. We should never have been relegated from the prem given the riches at our disposal. We go from one bad decision to the next without even a smattering of it looking like things are on the up. This has gone on for 7 fucking years. Something has to give and that’s the one thing in those 7 years that hasn’t yet. The owner. Funnily enough, one of the things I said tonight in the pub after the game was that one of the worst things to have ever happened to the club is to come into billions of pounds of money in a weird way. I think it's made us a very lazy club at the top, thinking we can buy and spend our way out of every problem. Historically (that being in the last decade really) the more we spend, the shitter the end product. I'm not wishing us to be skint again obviously but it's a worry. Absolutely mate, there’s been no forward planning ever. It’s just Chuck more millions at it and hopefully we’ll luck out. Rinse and repeat.0

If we lose to Boro, Portsmouth and Swansea, everything looks very ugly. Walters and Pelach gone by December and yet again the whole make up of the club will be changed. At that point, I'd be throwing money at bringing in the best Sporting Director and the best manager we could afford.

Just wondered if anyone is close to walking away from the club and finding something better to do with their time. I have to admit the last few years have got me thinking a lot about knocking this on the head and doing something better with my time and money. I get that I will probably lose some friends but i may make new ones. I guess the remainder of this season will be the acid test, as it will determine if my heart is still in it. Wonder if anyone else feels the same Spot on mate

It was like a circus watching the 4 coaches on the touchline tonight.

This season I'm pretty sure is a write off now. Before this weeks antics there was at least chance of some positive outcome. I thing relegation is now somewhat inevitable. We seem to operate like we are playing Football manager on the PC and if it goes wrong we just start over. Very vert difficult to not see us relegated this season, and tbh we deserve it.

The most frustrating part is at the end of last season we finished well, the fans and players were pretty much united. I’d say we had a pretty impressive summer window with some excitement about moving forward this season and hopefully pushing up the table, but then we rip that up and go straight back to square one AGAIN. I really hope Pelach can do something and find an identity but I’m just sick of the same shit of sacking a manager just after a transfer window and then going on the same boring rinse repeat cycle we have for the last god knows how many years at this club.

It is ridiculous. Wait until window closes, fire incumbent, have a new manger with no preseason trotting out excuses for the remainder of the season with promises of a summer reset. Give him the close season then sack him in Novemeber. We have managed to outdo ourselves here with a late September firing. We are a laughing stock right now

I don't seem to have the emotion I used to.
I go the games, meet family, hope for a win. But when we lose, I'm over it in about 10 minutes.
When we used to lose, I used to react like I'd lost a loved one for a couple of days, but no more. It's almost a "I'm not bothered anymore emotion", when really I am, but whats the point.
I've come to the conclusion that the bottom line is it's John Coates club, and he can, and will do, with it whatever he wants, and he does.
I think back to my years following the club from mid 70's and wonder why we as fans accept the way the club is run now. I remember the days of the protests outside the Victoria Ground, and the pitch invasion after the Birmingham game, but now we just accept it.
It's sad really, because we all know how great this football club is, and always will be, but with Peter too old now, Denise not interested, so John in charge, I can't see any light any time soon.
But I will never walk away, I simply can't!

It's a great topic - one that quite a few of us were debating in town after the game. Lots of us who've endured the late 80s onwards etc It let to a couple of arguments actually, Staropramen fuelled albeit.
On paper, everything is set up for us - a billionaire owner, own our ground, debt free, a support that has still turned out in great numbers considering how toss we have become, a good size catchment area.
Unfortunately, in the very best traditions of SCFC, we do our best to fuck it right up. It's your club, it's the people you meet and the nod at the bar at an away game from someone you know by sight but not by name. Christ, it becomes harder though when the club is run so badly year after year. Id rather have someone with less cash who actually understands how a successful business runs.

As you get older you realise there are more important and better things to do, especially when the thing that has been occupying you keeps on kicking you in the bollocks with no sign of stopping.

We are a laughing stock right now I hope Pelach shows all the qualities we hired him for. I just don’t understand the decisions we make as a club. I highly doubted Schumacher would take us to the Prem but I think he’s been treated incredibly poorly and this reflects bad on the upper management in the club. We can’t turn around and say “these aren’t the manager’s players” anymore because these players will predominantly be chosen by Walters. I’m hoping tomorrow I’ll feel more calm but I’m incredibly concerned about this season now.

It’s hard being a stoke fan, always has been. That was really poor tonight & probably will be for the rest of the season but we have to get behind the lads, we have no other choice.

Never. I would prefer a promotion push, but I do find a relegation scrap quite entertaining. And if we do drop down to league 1, maybe we will win more than we lose?

I'm 38 now first season was 1997...
Think I've hit a point where I'm going to see my mates at the game and if me dad doesn't want to go now as I don't live in stoke any evening or midweek games are difficult with out the lift.
Saturdays I'd go if he didn't go but I'd be picking my games..
Think I'm over the point where it annoys me for the weekend but I can take losing but it's how you do it gets my disappointment and feels the club is de ja view all the time atm.

As you get older you realise there are more important and better things to do, especially when the thing that has been occupying you keeps on kicking you in the bollocks with no sign of stopping. I don't buy all these "enduring the shit makes the good times better" and "oh but it's the social element" sentiments. If you keep spending valuable time and money on something that ultimately makes you unhappy then you're a fucking idiot if you ask me. There's only about two of our original group of season ticket holders who still go to the games now (and I think they're mad to do so). They trumpet the old "social element" line but I keep asking why they don't just do what I do by going to the pub before (and after) the game, thus missing out on the source of unedifying, expensive and time-consuming misery that is the club in its current malaise. Personally, I decided at the end of the season before last that I wouldn't set foot in the Bet365 Stadium whilst the Coates family still own this once great club, and in keeping that up I've seen a marked uptick in my general levels of happiness (and I'm also much better off financially as a result). If that makes me a 'lesser' fan than others then someone make me a 'Big Flaky Cunt' badge and I'll gladly wear it around my neck like Jon Coates does the Albatross of his own intellect.

I’ve consoled myself over nearly 60 years that at times I’m blessed with them, and other times cursed with them….but it’ll always be Stoke, for better and for worse. It is very fucking difficult at the moment mind, but let’s not forget we’re all in it together. At times like this I take a step back and look at other things in my life that don’t let me down,my dogs, art and music, good things on the telly,my footy on a Monday night etc etc,and try not to get totally consumed by them.It works, and I’m already looking forward to the next match.I do enjoy a rather potent cannabis chocolate which helps the cause as well.😉

Whether you do or don’t want to walk away now isn’t the time to answer that question.
Ask yourself on Wednesday at 1pm once the dust has settled on tonight.
