What do you think happens next? Pelach gets time, but it's not beyond the realms of possibility we'll need another new manager soon. If we lose to Boro, Portsmouth and Swansea, everything looks very ugly. Walters and Pelach gone by December and yet again the whole make up of the club will be changed. Hopefully hiring someone with a decent track record of running a football club to sort it all out.

I think it's also a case of football generally being less interesting nowadays tbf
The Pep effect
Not many characters around now
Everything's televised
VAR
Almost a non-contact sport
Oil money
List goes on

Just wondered if anyone is close to walking away from the club and finding something better to do with their time. I have to admit the last few years have got me thinking a lot about knocking this on the head and doing something better with my time and money. I get that I will probably lose some friends but i may make new ones. I guess the remainder of this season will be the acid test, as it will determine if my heart is still in it. Wonder if anyone else feels the same No.

This evening, me and the nippers sat down for a birthday take away treat (the youngest turned sixteen) and popped the match on.
Cue the final whistle and the birthday boy ranting about how the same tedious rinse and repeat pattern of John Coates attempting to buy us/Stoke/himself out of trouble.
"At this rate, I can't see us being decent again until I'm your age."
Forget us old mard arses on here, it's seriously testing the patience of the young fans too.
If the above doesn't make it patently clear, he thinks John Coates is a rich idiot.

Sod of down the vale then Charlton is closer to us than the Vale. Mercifully he understands loyalty.

In no Pulis fan. But you can’t see past a big bellowing ‘go on TONNEEEEE’ from the upper tier. TP wouldn't have a clue with this bunch of players. He wouldn't waste his time on them, they'd pretty much all be out the door

I live far enough way not to justify night games so gave my season ticket away last night (don’t always get a taker). I don’t watch it on the box - just keep tabs on the score. Evening not as ruined as it would have been.
Up early for u5s football this morning. Will enjoy that far more.

It’s hard at the moment but it’s in my blood so I’ll keep going when I can.
First game for me was in 76 so I’ve seen worse than what it is at the moment. Ball, 0-7 V Birmingham, 84/85 and relegations.
I have to say though games like yesterday where we’re woeful and appear to give up and down tools are really hard to take. Recently weekends are becoming miserable affairs because we lose but I can’t just give up on us.
There’s always hope though and with this team things are no different. We were terrible but we’ve got plenty of players out and a new manager who will have time to change things. Januarys a long time off but we have to bring in some experience to support the youngsters who are incredibly fragile and it shows.
I always go with the attitude of it’ll click next week and we’re not as bad a side as it seems and some confidence will make all the difference.

Never. I would prefer a promotion push, but I do find a relegation scrap quite entertaining. And if we do drop down to league 1, maybe we will win more than we lose? That’s what I said when we got relegated from the PL. Seeing Rowett on tonight analysing I thought a lot of this mess is on you.

Just grit your teeth and endure it. When the good times eventually come it makes them even sweeter. Can you give me a timeline for when the worm will turn? I’m getting pretty low on reserves of enthusiasm and hope. It could take 23 years unfortunately.

We'll come good one day. Just hope its sooner rather than later 🙏

Thoughtful barbed post as normal. How about sending your CV in to the club, or simply withdraw your support until your anti-Christ is no longer associated with SCFC You’ll feel a lot better

I wouldn't apply because I'm vastly under qualified, although that doesn't seem to matter. I was highly supportive of the last head coach and will be supportive of this one, sadly I cannot support what Walters is currently doing to our football club.

I walked away after 84/85 season
We lost 10 in a row and mustered 3 wins all season.
Apart from the odd match it was several seasons before went back.

Went to my first match in 50s. League Cup Final win in 73 Watched us win 5-0 at Boro with our youngest ever team most recently. The guy next to me said this is the best since the last FAC semi-final. It's for those moments you keep going. The conga at Barnsley in MON's first game proved to be a false dawn. If we had won 3-0 last night which we could have been at half-time, this MB would be in ecstasy today. 1 match means nothing. I'll be there on Saturday.

The stadium should have a wall on the way out, specifically for banging your head against. I use the base of the Matthews statue.

Some of you lot are amateurs. Those of us who were in the stands through the Holocaust Season of 1984-85 know what terrible is really like. It was absolutely soul destroying. And it was only my second season following Stoke.
Three wins. 17 points (a record low at the time). But even that doesn’t tell the story of utter despair. We were marooned at the foot of the table before Christmas with no hope whatsoever. Our manager was a good man but it actually made him ill and he left, broken, a handful of games before the end.
23 years to get back to the top flight.
Today, yes we’re shit, but it’s not at those levels.
Yet.

We didnt have a pot piss in and were having to play a bunchof kids who were out of their depth. No such excuses these days

There was also the sense that the players were trying hard but simply weren’t good enough, whereas of late it feels like they just can’t be arsed a lot of the time.

I walked away from attending (30+ years season tix) before COVID but still watch when they're on TV but I'm nowhere near as emotionally invested as I was - it's not a loyalty thing but realising that it's not very important in the big scheme of things - add to that the overt commercialism, elitism and politicisation surrounding the game, putting international competitions with ridiculous qualification processes over the domestic leagues and cups at the behest of a powerful and select bunch of mega-media companies makes if feel more like an exercise in mass-exploitation and brain-washing.
Players attitudes stink more than ever and are little more than mercenary journeymen with zero attachment or interest in the local community - when was the last charitable or community-spirited action a player or manager undertook recently - I haven't seen anything of note since the TP years.
Not saying nothing would ever tempt me back for a game but they won't own me ever again.....
