Despite all the frustration following this club I'll never leave as long as we don't end up with owners from Saudi Arabia or something similar, but if that happens I will really consider it.

Just wondered if anyone is close to walking away from the club and finding something better to do with their time. I have to admit the last few years have got me thinking a lot about knocking this on the head and doing something better with my time and money. I get that I will probably lose some friends but i may make new ones. I guess the remainder of this season will be the acid test, as it will determine if my heart is still in it. Wonder if anyone else feels the same For me it’s just apathy…. If we win then it’s “oh right” and NOT “ fuckin get in there you beauty”. Watching the games on the Stoke stream is a chore but you’re just hoping against hope they muller a team just for once, then you see insipid, weak, tactically inept team just crumble before your eyes…… It’s fuckin soul destroying is what it is. That’s why I really can’t be arsed anymore

I won’t give up but I don’t really give a toss any more. Great when we win meh if we don’t. It doesn’t bother me like it used to.I have felt like this for a few years now Might be age…seen it all before.
I’ve lived away for decades so always try to get to a game when I’m home and still enjoy the match day regardless of what’s being served up on the pitch. If I lived closer I would probably have a season ticket though 🤪

It really does feel like we need a Macari type appointment at the moment. Hopes beginning to fade and we really do need a change in fortune and I’m not talking about the odd win here or there
Who knows what the new man will do but he needs to be special to turn the mentality of the players and fans around and to unite them.
The next months huge.

And when a bit of success arrives we all come crawling out from behind the radio to fill up the stadium. Amd I'm not knocking any of those people. I've been one myself before. Although ironically I stopped going for a few years during the Hughes era. Family issues etc. Missed the Stokealona years bar the odd game here and there 🤦♂️ The latent support that Stoke has is very impressive indeed when you consider some of the dross we tolerate..

Went to my first match in 50s. League Cup Final win in 73Watched us win 5-0 at Boro with our youngest ever team most recently. The guy next to me said this is the best since the last FAC semi-final. It's for those moments you keep going. The conga at Barnsley in MON's first game proved to be a false dawn. If we had won 3-0 last night which we could have been at half-time, this MB would be in ecstasy today. 1 match means nothing. I'll be there on Saturday. Who were you watching. Stoke won it in 72

I'm a S.T. holder, live locally & sometimes wonder why I bother. Last night outside Ricardo's I was talking to a father & son. The father travels from Peterborough, & the son from Lincolnshire. Both get home from a night match after midnight. That's commitment. I'll keep 'bothering'.

I’m in too deep to stop now.
If I’d only just started out I’d probably throw the towel in. But I’m coming up to nearly 30 season tickets in a row.
I too struggle to justify the expenditure to the mrs. She can see how unhappy it makes me. It’s hard to explain why I splash the cash on something that brings little to no enjoyment.
What else are you gonna do on a Saturday?

I get that I will probably lose some friends but i may make new ones. I guess the remainder of this season will be the acid test, as it will determine if my heart is still in it. Wonder if anyone else feels the same I gave up my ST at the end of last season, after twenty years. It was partly a logistical, financially driven decision, with me being fed up at spending £50+ in fuel for each game and driving home feeling frustrated and angry. When we did get a win or good performance I found that I was just flatlining, and not getting anything out of it at all. So when the new TV deal was announced, I figured I’d become an armchair supporter, guessing that things weren’t going to change much for the better anytime soon, and at least I would have more money to spend on other things. The capricious manner in which Schumacher was sacked - for reasons only known in The Deep Stoke - and the resultant slide from a third of the way up the progress mountain right back down to base camp, has only confirmed me in my decision. But I take no satisfaction from that.

I've not been to a Stoke home game since our first season relegated, but that's only because I moved down to London.
I don't think anyone really walks away do they? Let's face it, none of us support Stoke for the glory - it's probably a family member who got us into it when we were kids and it stuck. My grandparents still buy me the away top every Christmas and have done for 32 years now.
It was on a Coates thread last season, but given how many people turn up and invest in this club- given how poorly ran it's been for years, is a fucking miracle.
You, me, all of us deserve better than this shit.

As you get older you realise there are more important and better things to do, especially when the thing that has been occupying you keeps on kicking you in the bollocks with no sign of stopping. I don't buy all these "enduring the shit makes the good times better" and "oh but it's the social element" sentiments. If you keep spending valuable time and money on something that ultimately makes you unhappy then you're a fucking idiot if you ask me. There's only about two of our original group of season ticket holders who still go to the games now (and I think they're mad to do so). They trumpet the old "social element" line but I keep asking why they don't just do what I do by going to the pub before (and after) the game, thus missing out on the source of unedifying, expensive and time-consuming misery that is the club in its current malaise. Personally, I decided at the end of the season before last that I wouldn't set foot in the Bet365 Stadium whilst the Coates family still own this once great club, and in keeping that up I've seen a marked uptick in my general levels of happiness (and I'm also much better off financially as a result). If that makes me a 'lesser' fan than others then someone make me a 'Big Flaky Cunt' badge and I'll gladly wear it around my neck like Jon Coates does the Albatross of his own intellect. Does the pub do a light show though?

Moved away from Staffordshire but know of a few local blokes who I could tag along with I suppose but honestly it’d be agony sitting watching this shit.
Watch every game live and it still spoils my night/weekend watching such crap.
At my age I get far, far more enjoyment watching my grandchildren growing up and we help out financially and with childcare several days a week.
I know I need to start taking my grandsons to a few matches to pass on the bug I have but I’m assuming Children Services might have something to say.

Since we moved to the new stadium 6 of us have sat in the same seats in the East Stand, over the years we've been joined by 5 of our kids who have season tickets and another 3 that come fairly regularly. I also see my folks when I'm down who will hopefully be around for a few more years yet, so things would have to be really really dire for me to walk away....

M6 was shocking, then the M62 closed 18-20 so ended up going via Burnley and home at 2am. Miserable night on and off the pitch. Thought I had it bad getting home at 1.15 but that’s shit. Where are you based mate Ripon mate

I won't be watching League 1 football, sorry done my time there, can't face it again I am assuming you (and others) don't want to watch us in League One because the standard is so poor? If so, I don't really understand this attitude. Watching Stoke can still be exciting at League One. Possibly more so if we are winning games. I watch Stoke for the emotion not for the quality of the game. Winning while beating better teams in fuller grounds is icing on the cake. However, winning in front of 8,000 is generally better than losing in front of 20,000. Since we got relegated, I doubt I have watched a full 90min Premier League match on more than 5 occasions. Just not interested. Same with the Champions League. My interest is Stoke, whatever league they are in.
