Junior is still young, hopefully he will improve, not good enough to be starting though.

Gooch is okay as an option off the bench when we are in front and need some energy (so not very often), shouldn’t be anywhere near the starting lineup though.

Wilmot, Thompson, and Laurent were all poor.

Bocat some good moments but also some bad, too early to judge.

Not sure on the keeper yet, but again, too early to judge.

We need some ins and outs next week to freshen this squad up, and we really could do with a few of the injured players back.

Junior was OK, but Gooch probably had one of the worst performances ever seen by a Stoke player, especially in the first half. I feel SS must take his part of the blame for this defeat because it was easy to see Gooch couldn't cope with the role he was given. Both goals came from lousy defending by Gooch, and it didn't help that Victor made another crucial mistake again for their first either! We really should have taken something from this game!
Koumas was a bright spark though and deserves another game up top.

Junior was poor against Watford and again today, but as pointed out, he will develop and has a lot of potential in the future.

I'm very surprised how bad Gooch is this season as compared to last (not that he was pulling up trees last season, but he was solid.)

Part of the problem with Gooch is where he's being played and who is sending him out as a starter...

Junior was dreadful. He literally keeps stopping to think what he going to do before he does anything. It's like he can't move and think simultaneously.

Junior is a basic full back. Ask him to play at full back staying by the touchline for most of the game and he'd probably be fine. Hoever was the same, basic instructions and allow the attacking play and he wasn't too bad. Start asking Championship players to play as inverted full-backs and they'll look what they are, well out of place.

There's a reason a fellow bog-standard Championship side weren't too arsed to see Gooch leave.

Yes you can blame the manager or the system which exposes him but fuck me he offers absolutely nothing in any shape or form.
He can’t defend to save his life in my opinion and you can open the gates when he gets forward🙄

Junior has so much work to do to become any sort of decent full back. He gives his winger way too much room, doesn’t defend the back post well and his touch is poor. Hopefully it’s one of those where it just comes together for him and he grows in confidence from there because we’ve spent a lot on him to write him off, but he needs to work at his game massively.

Still think Junior will come good. Yes, he has been exposed in the last couple of games, but hopefully he will be able to learn and adapt from that. As for Gooch, the guy is obviously a good solid pro, and you do need those sorts around the club (Thompson is another one in this bracket) but he lacks any real quality about him, the fact that he is genuinely seen as a starter by the manager is concerning in itself. We look so unbalanced across the squad from back to front it's alarming.
