Change of ownership done so both sides, BET365 and the club, are separate to enable easier investment in, or even sale of, either or both in the future.
Also, the crack down on betting companies in football is coming, so it makes sense from that viewpoint.
The football club being debt free is great, as is the club back owning its own ground and training facility. It does leave the club as John's plaything, which worries me a bit for the reasons we all can see (brewery, piss up etc).
It may also limit spending if all of it is now coming out of his pocket, not the wider BET365 resources.

With the announcement that the government are looking at the relationship between football club ownership and online gambling this must have been on the cards for sometime and my feeling is this had been rubber stamped by the footballing authorities.
The Coates family have a good reputation in football and are recognised as genuinely having the interests of the club at heart and I can't help thinking this has been agreed as a way out of a potentially difficult situation for the club. I'd be very surprised I'd there are any repercussions from this arrangement.

Indeed, he has a fair few bob, but the overall pot is still smaller, even if it is 2bn instead of 11bn. It may also be easier, and more advantageous tax wise, to write off loans in a company than for him personally, or to even make those loans in the first place. It does focus the mind more when it is your personal money and not business funds.

Forbes as his personal net worth at 4bil $ , so he can afford lose a bit , it goes up year on year as well

It's not the Victoria ground though and never will be sadly. Why? It was a shit hole ,let's be honest Other, smaller clubs had far better grounds than us Not debating that mate, I'm saying the Vic has gone and renaming the new stadium with that name means nothing.

Best name for the stadium in my opinion would be The Victoria Ground. Totally neutral and historic. Back to the Britannia would be nice... Will always be the Brit to me I'm older and it was the Victoria Ground for a very very long time including some of the best years

Why does this sad twat think he knows more about legal, finances and Football League rules than the army of accountants, lawyers and consultants that Stoke Holdings / Bet365 can afford to employ? Its almost laughable. Because just like any other football club the accounts we publish can not be taken on face value.

The Brit ot Bet365 never got close to that Atmosphere has never been the same even when our fans were being touted the loudest in the country. I blame all seater pre allocated stadia. The inability of like minded people to migrate together has changed the atmosphere for the worse and this is not from an ultra but a quiet fan who doesn’t want someone jumping up and down in front of me like a monkey.

In fact it was quite normal to have about 13/14k for top flight games

Why has this been announced now and not at the start or after the window? Does this somehow release more funds or structured in a way to be able to spend more or am I just guessing wrong?
Only just caught up on this, just wondering why at this moment?
