For Percy to mention it like that, we must be quite far down the line. I was told early summer he was our no.1 striker target, so it seems that nothing has changed.

I’m torn as to whether I’d prefer cannon or Al-Hamadi.
I think on balance probably Al-hamadi as he has more football under his belt and will hold the ball up better.
Either way both would make us a better side up top.

A striker on loan is just a straight up bad idea imo. Just needlessly blocks Tezgel’s development and puts us right back to square one next summer.

Would Cannon on loan actually make sense? assuming we'd be covering his wages + a loan fee (which would likely be significant too?), I'd rather any loan fee go towards a permanent signing.
I think Cannon will do well in the Championship again, and I think he's worth the 7m or so that Leicester paid for him not so long ago, not sure I see the point in a loan though unless the unthinkable happens and it results in promotion.
A loan is very short-term thinking, same goes with Cundle if we loan him. Chances are they do alright here if they come then at the end of the season they go back, their values go up as they're still young, and we're left back in the same place we were one summer earlier.

The problem is it's clear we've not got the money available to spend on players like Cundle and Cannon's ability. So you either spend what we have got on lesser players, or loan the better players in the hope that they help get us in the play offs.

I’d much prefer perms too but if it’s a choice of loans or going with what we have I’d take the loans. I don’t know what the permanent options are so can’t compare them.

I’m a little worried he won’t though Tezgel will have Cannon, Gallagher, Mmaee and Koumas ahead of him won't he? He needs a loan I agree. Although slightly harsh to make him 5th choice considering he's done fine so far too, and is our player unlike Cannon and Koumas.

The player always decides his future if he is under contract. No one can force him to move. True but he can be given a difficult devising ie we’ve accepted a bid from Sheffield United you can talk to them or stay here in the bomb squad life’s never as simple on the inside as it might seem from outside thats not a difficult decision if he does not want to go to Sheffield Utd.

I work with a Leicester fan and with someone who has a bit of an in there. Both said he was harshly treated last season by Maresca, that they thought him a better option than Patson Daka.
Cannon was available quite a bit since his back injury, particularly during January-February time while Daka and Iheanacho were at AFCON.

Wouldn’t surprise me if he’s three years away from leading the line on a regular basis anywhere at this level.

I get that, but honestly I just see it as a gamble that is unlikely to pay off, and it hinders progress in the long term because we lose the loans each year and have to start again. The only way for me this truly pays off is if we get promoted, or on the other hand; these players are the difference between relegation and staying in the Championship, anywhere inbetween the two (which I think is by far the most likely outcome) we've developed talent for other clubs and we're left with a few holes in our squad come the summer when we rinse and repeat.
Cannon is also likely to mean less time on the pitch for Mmaee (who may still come good this season) and especially Tezgel who is looking more and more comfortable at this level and someone I'd like to see in the match day squad throughout the season (same with Sidibe in midfield).
I'd play the longer game given the choice, develop the talent we own first and foremost, and then bolster with a couple of loans where it's absolutely necessary. I appreciate that's more of a boring option in the short term, but I feel we've been betting on loans for many seasons now and we haven't really progressed as a result of that.

But the other 2,1 stands round not doing too much, the other is lying down getting treated for the next few months & maybe longer.

Yeah I completely get your argument, Stoke fans are impatient though! Jokes aside, what you explain is very akin to the model that Sunderland have followed since promotion and their board have taken pelters from the fans during the last two years over it. They've had a strong start though now and it could just be a flash in the pan or it could be the fruits of their labours starting to show, there will be some black cats fans with eggs on their faces if it is! We'll see what happens but the squad if Cundle and Cannon do come in, does start to look exciting on paper and if we can find some form of consistency could definitely be challenging top half.

Begs the question what Wolves are hoping for if we can't afford him. Outside of SS there appears to have been very little interest. Maybe another loan just reduces the price next summer, also should he get injured etc. reduces the risk. Obviously increases the risk he has a good season and goes elsewhere.

If we have the ambition of top 6 we need a 15-20 goal striker. Tezgel isn’t ready. Every striker we have on the books is a 2nd option.
We need a main man and the boss has said that this week.
