Doing Montreal and a small town in the south of Quebec called Magog in mid-October. Looking forward to seeing the beautiful autumn colors and trying their highly rated craft beer ☺️
Has anyone been out this way and any useful tips?

We're looking at Boston and fancy somewhere else that way too. Just back from Austin and Denver.

It would be quite the stunning drive, I know on the US side in between Boston and Quebec you've got Vermont which is meant to be stunning, especially in Autumn. I'll let you know how I get on. How was Austin??

Trying to create an identity for itself I think.

It's a pain in the arse, I only hope they get the same treatment coming this way. I’m pretty sure they get 6 months free, my mate who I live with met a Yank and she’s been here since fucking February. She does my tits in but anyway I digress They’ve got engaged so she can get a Visa. Moved over here at the weekend. Silly cunts.

Can’t recall seeing one before so here we go. A nice thread for you to tell us all where you off on your holidays and where we can share tips and places to visit while you’re there. I’ll start: Naples in 3 weeks time for a week. Looking to visit Rome, Pompeii and a couple of beaches on the coast. Anyone been before? It’s a special trip for Mrs Orbs and I as we celebrate 25 years of marriage. You didn't look hard enough, so I'll repeat it I was going to Nottingham at the end of October for a weekend (was going to give you a shout for a run) but plans have changed and now it's a night at the Rudyard hotel, family gathering for my Uncles surprise 90th, still want to go to Nottingham though. Already done Porto in April, a great city, a bit hilly, but good for food and drink and transport out and about. Had a few weekends away, Oxford/Reading/London/Cumbria where the kids are living, they don't have spare rooms so it was hotels and airbnb's 4 nights in London next weekend. Flying to Chicago 4 weeks today, was suppose to be off to Toronto after, but that bits cancelled and I'm just doing Chicago on my own. Went to Italy with work in July, there again in 3 weeks and Paris in October, so keeps me out and about. Had a week and a bit in Belgium last month, Brugges, Antwerp and Brussels, 3 different city breaks and 3 different style of cities, all with good beer.

Off to Istanbul for “work” this weekend for a bit. Always wanted to go there and getting plenty of time off to enjoy, hoping to get a ticket for the intercontinental derby but not sure it’ll be possible. There is another game on though, Besiktas at home to Eyupspor (Stoke connection there). Got a week booked in Malta towards the end of the year at a 5 star all inclusive for a bit of r and r. Hoping for a long holiday next May/June time

Basically some of the factories for loads of brands are situated not far from Istanbul so they do all these "fakes" that aren't actually fake in the sense it's exactly the same material and the same quality as the real stuff! I didn't realise people go with empty suitcases etc. The Besiktas stadium is very central, see if you can get to a game 😊

Beginning of august i had my final fling ever (i think) in Orlando (no children or grandkids this time) ... coming up to 60 so we wanted to be the kids . Did Volcano Bay, Universal, Islands of adventure (Velocicoaster x5)... Snorkling at Discovery Cove, Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Epcot.... absolutely loved it, altho we were knackered after. Going to Madiera in October (re booked as we should have originally gone in april) Looking forward to some great food and scenery. Ive booked myself on a hike ive wanted to do for years (Pico do Ariero to Pico Ruivo) altho not sure im ready as i still have ankle niggles from an old sprain, also a tiny piece of loose cartilage floating at the front of my ankle that sometimes drops into places that almost fell me add to that im scared of heights but, in all fairness i'm more scared of embarrassing myself so will jump off a cliff to hide that fact....Meh, what could go wrong.

I don’t really mind all that stuff tbh. Agree with Athens being a bit pricey, even on the outskirts it wasn’t as cheap as I expected. Great city mind

You'll enjoy the 2 cable cars going up the hills in Madeira then, and also the glass walkway over the highest cliff in Europe, come down the hills in the wicker basket, it's fun.

Does anyone have any experience of using an American Express card in the States?
I wouldn't have thought there was any fees but apparently there are.

Pretty sure there was a 3% charge when I was over there a few years ago. I just signed up for a Virgin(I think?) card specifically for the trip as they had some kind of zero charge/cashback offer at the time and used that instead....

Yeah I've got a Revolut account, which seems to better than Monzo these days.

Last day on Skiathos today. Beautiful island but a bit too hilly for our 60 year old bones! Thank god for the brilliant bus service. Glorious weather apart from Tuesday when we went on a boat trip🙄 started off well but deteriorated into one of the worst storms I've ever experienced. Tossed around on 6ft waves and absolutely sheeting it down with rain. 4 couples on board but like the true British Gen Xers we are we rode it out with beers in hands.👍 What an experience!
