Not so much a holiday as an ‘experience’. A week Satdee I’ll be in the Scottish wilderness in a barn for wife’s nephews wedding. A chip van is providing the food. If it’s anything like my experience last Christmas I’ll be lucky to get back with all my body parts.

Beginning of august i had my final fling ever (i think) in Orlando (no children or grandkids this time) ... coming up to 60 so we wanted to be the kids . Did Volcano Bay, Universal, Islands of adventure (Velocicoaster x5)... Snorkling at Discovery Cove, Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Epcot.... absolutely loved it, altho we were knackered after. Going to Madiera in October (re booked as we should have originally gone in april) Looking forward to some great food and scenery. Ive booked myself on a hike ive wanted to do for years (Pico do Ariero to Pico Ruivo) altho not sure im ready as i still have ankle niggles from an old sprain, also a tiny piece of loose cartilage floating at the front of my ankle that sometimes drops into places that almost fell me add to that im scared of heights but, in all fairness i'm more scared of embarrassing myself so will jump off a cliff to hide that fact....Meh, what could go wrong. You'll enjoy the 2 cable cars going up the hills in Madeira then, and also the glass walkway over the highest cliff in Europe, come down the hills in the wicker basket, it's fun. Definitely doing the cable cars up to the gardens. We doing a few sightseeing trips but not sure the glass walkway one is on it....missus will not do those carts

Wedd anniversary do I did it with the wife ( and walked over the bridge ). Horrible. Thing is it was post Covid do you were supposed to go over bridge but get back via a set of steps n the cliff face with a raging gale and lashing waves. No. I legged it back across the bridge with my eyes shut and ran into a group of Chinese tourists taking photos. RIP. A v expensive looking SLR. Bring waterproof. Is not the same as cliff proof.

Last day on Skiathos today. Beautiful island but a bit too hilly for our 60 year old bones! Thank god for the brilliant bus service. Glorious weather apart from Tuesday when we went on a boat trip🙄 started off well but deteriorated into one of the worst storms I've ever experienced. Tossed around on 6ft waves and absolutely sheeting it down with rain. 4 couples on board but like the true British Gen Xers we are we rode it out with beers in hands.👍 What an experience! Gen X! Boomer more like. I'm borderline. Late December 64 so more X than Boomer I like to think. 😁

Planned a week in Edinburgh late November/early December, never been before so looking forward to a few beers and good food.
I’d planned to go to NY but CBA at the moment with airports/long flights so that’ll get planned next year now. Other than that satisfied in my own little home and the surrounding areas.

Has anyone ever been to Košice in Slovakia? Just seen a deal for 3 nights next month for £110 each, return flights and 4 star hotel🤔 Sounds like a good deal doesn’t it?

No mate but meant to be very nice and cheap barley once you're out there 🍻 Lots of history and heard the natural scenery is spectacular outside the cities.

Where is the flight from? Wonder if they've got over the heartbreak of that Bellingham goal. 20 seconds away from the biggest result in Slovakian history 💔 Southgate was 20 seconds away from being physically lynched.

Yeh I went about 10 years ago, it was around Xmas time, they had a lovely Xmas market thing in the square. Don't remember there being to much to do but the beer was cheap 👍

They have the weird Eastern Europe habit of standing at a crossing despite there not being any vehicles for miles 🤔 3 days will be plenty, I didn't do much touristy stuff tho so there may be things I missed. I preferred Bratislava, lovely little place and only an hour from Vienna. About 4-5 hours from Kosice by train.

I just think a price of £110 each for 3 days in Eastern Europe is an opportunity too good to miss. So long as there’s food and drink with a couple of cultural bits I’ll be happy with that. And if it’s cheap whilst there then that’s a Brucey too

Keep an eye out for Bratislava ones, especially if you've never been to Vienna, cheap beer and accommodation and some great bars with live music, Vienna is expensive but the train was only about 15 quid return iirc.

Yeah once back from Canada I'm thinking Bratislava in December, meant to be very pretty around Christmas time. How did you find it? I recently read about another beautiful but ridiculous cheap city in Slovakia called Kosice which is meant to be a decent crack.

Was chatting with some guy I play squash with who is big into the outdoors, mountaineering etc. He mentioned he'd not long been back from Kyrgyzstan and said it was the most stunning place he's been to. Didn't buy it so had a look online and tbf it looks incredible! Would be a pretty wild trip.

We usually opt for a week in the sun before Xmas but really can’t be hassled with it this year so we’re heading up to Edinburgh for 4 days late November. Never been before but from what the other half has told me it’s a great place to visit.
Train is £50 return from Crewe which is really good value I think, accommodation £300, which looks lovely and is smack in the middle of the tourist type stuff and rated very good on trip advisor.
We’ll see

For the record we upgraded our train tickets to 1st class for about £39 each at the ticket office at Crewe station. Was well worth it.

We’ll see Went there most Saturdays during my apprenticeship in Rosyth, mainly went to Rose Street for the pub crawl (think there was about 25 pubs then) or the White Hart in the Grassmarket for live music. Underground Vaults tours look good, had no idea they were there when I visited regularly.

… someone recommended I visit England in August. Weather was crap (apart from three days,) was told to have a pint of Marston’s Pedigree which I did at this stadium where I went to watch some soccer team called The Potters lose at home to West Brom. Then I drove to Plymouth and actually saw them win. Then went to Croatia 🇭🇷. 30 deg and sunny every day and you don’t burn like you do in Oz. Dubrovnik, Hvar, then Split. They apparently have a half decent soccer team who play in Europe now and again, but apparently lost to The Potters several years ago 😉

I'm out in south Quebec, Canada in a region called the Eastern Townships. Not far from New England. It really is paradise out here. Sun is shining, the lake is glistening and the main peak here (Mont Orford) has snow on top. Went up it yesterday and it's crazy how you start the hike sweating like Jimmy Saville in a nursery and by the top you're walking (sliding) through a few inches of snow freezing your cock off... All within the space of 90 minutes.
Truly breathtaking scenery from the top with fall colors and snow. If I knew how to post photos on here I would share!
To make this region of small towns even better (as if I wasn't already in love with it), it's got microbreweries everywhere!
Off to a stunning church by the lake (St Benoit du lac) this afternoon.⛪
Heading back up to Montreal tomorrow to watch the Montreal v New York game with a fit Canadian bird I've matched with on Bumble.🫶
The only negative here is the French but hey, can't have it all.
