Just an observation, can the thread title be changed please? The team is actually now called Stoke City Women. I mentioned this on August 17th...

Just a question about the title of this thread - I thought it wasn't PC to call them ladies? So you can't call women, ladies anymore. What a shite world we live in 🙄🙄 As a woman I think it is one of the stranger things to get upset about but I think it's because of the image of ladies being genteel and ladylike so for 3 or 4 years most if not all have changed to women so now it is for eg Stoke City Women, the argument being we don't call it gentleman's football. I think the idea is that Ladies football makes it sound as if it's not proper football but a gentler version. Female players objected to being called Ladies teams because it made them sound inferior to men. It is also why in the press the headlines don't mention if it's the women's or men's teams they are about so eg you get a headline 'Arsenal to sign X', think' I've never heard of him' then find it's about the women's team. That is because women's teams objected to the fact that it was assumed that all football stories were about men unless they had the suffix 'women'.

Most of the lower league teams are 'ladies' teams. All WSL are 'women's!

Why not Stoke City Females? Or can't you call then females either? I'm sure you can. But if it's the Women's Superleague and the website calls the Women's team Women, what's wrong with calling them Women?

Why not Stoke City Females? Or can't you call then females either? That's OK as long as we call the men Stoke City Males. I think the point you are missing is that it devalue women's football to assume that if it is about football, rugby or cricket it is about the men's game and belittles the women's game so is an example of sexism.

Liverpool Feds 0 Stoke City Ladies 6 (six)! Liverpool a team they lost to earlier in the season. Since their defeat to Burnley they really have began to gel and hit some form and had some really impressive results against top teams. Be really interesting to see how they go on for the rest of the season - only a few points from top if they win their game in hand. Shame we can't seem to get the highlights on the Stoke website anymore. They had the some highlights on this video so they must have them? I guess it's down to the media department! www.stokecityfc.com/news/2024/october/12/first-class-molinari-chats-to-six-assist-stamps/

Anyway, the word “women” will soon go out of fashion and be replaced by something else like Stoke City Feministas

Great strike. I'm probably in the minority but I like to see our home top with black shorts now and again, looks good......

Reminds me of the Topps Chewing Gum card I had of Denis Smith, when I was younger and, more latterly, the cracking goal that Fuller scored at The Boleyn Ground 👍

Why are the women playing at Wellbeing park in Stone ? Surely there is somewhere in Stoke that could accommodate them ?

Yes, you would have thought so. Mind you, a lot more women attending now compared to when I first started almost 60 years ago. Hopefully a successful Stoke Ladies team will drive it forward

Good luck to them especially stokes offering 👌

There's a sign up at the Wellbeing Park in Yarnfield: "Home of SCFC WOMEN". Is this where they play now?
