The posters all in support and saying they want him to continue. Answer this question: Do you see Shumacher taking us to the Premier League next season or the season after? I dont care about whats he's done this past season and just escaping relegation. He did help Plymouth romp to the League 1 title last season so he can get promotion, but I just cant see him doing the same in the Championship based upon what Ive seen. We have won a few games, playing some nice football along the way - but even if he signed 15 new players in the summer I just cant see him taking us to the promised land. Most of the games we won playing counter-attacking football away from home with less than 50% possession. We havent dominated, or gone on any long run of 3-4 wins in a row. I quite like the guy and his brand of football, but we seem destined to be Championship mid-table under him. Unless Im seriously missing something??? I think he's done enough to have earned the right to try and take us to the next stage which for me would be a top half finish next season. Should he do that we will then see how his "brand" of football is shaping up in the championship and we will have a much better idea if he is definitely the right man. The club can then make a decision at that stage. I just don't think the alternative of sacking him now and spinning the wheel again with another unknown is the right thing to do. We need a bit of stability. He's liked by most fans and seems to have earned the respect of the players. How else can these upcoming managers get the experience needed to kick on. Give the man a chance I say....

I think he will, he's shown he is adaptable, he can do the ugly side, the pretty side and comes across as someone who wants it. He's not over the top in his reactions and seems like the kind of coach you would want to work for. The players are working hard and some are improving which is what you want to see. He's only been he a few months so everything won't click instantly and we are bound to be inconsistent especially with a team of strangers who didn't have any identity, no pre-season and have been learning a different style as we go along whilst having a busy Christmas to deal with and a load of shit in the background which was affecting the team. He's doing pretty well to be fair to him for a young coach.

BUT you say the same thing as everyone else - a good season with him would be top-half of the table. I dont WANT him gone, but I cant see him getting us promotion to the Premier League at this moment in time. That should be the yardstick to measure him by, and I just cant see it happening. We are going to remain Championship team under him

To play an aggressive pressing game 46 games a season your team has to be super fit, I think it's difficult to implement that mid-season. He deserves next season.......

We are going to remain Championship team under him 21 teams out of 24 end up disappointed that their manager failed to get them to the Premier league every season though. Next season will give us a good measure of him though so we just need to try and have a bit of faith. As we would with whoever is in the hot seat. I'm probably becoming a bit biased in my opinion as time goes on as I really like the cut of his gib. He seems a good fit, speaks well, seems keen, doesn't get overly emotional. I just get a good feeling about him and think he's going to do well. Whether that involves promotion to the Premier league I can't say. I hope so I really do...

How much turn over does he want and how much will it cost? He’s not got enough credit for us to go on a big spending spree. If he thinks he can do it on the cheap then he can stay and I’ll let him deliver a MON, tread-water season to meet FFP restrictions. Blindly backing an underperforming manager in the summer has happened too many times now and if it happens again my patience with Jon Coates will really start to run out. If SS is backed and it fails JC needs to be moved away from making decisions and he needs to pay someone to make these calls. Fukin hell he won't sleep tonite.

But imo it doesn’t matter if or when we sack him as i don’t trust JC to appointment the next one

Pre season plans in place.
Presumably, no dodgy equipment upon which injuries can occur 🙂
Macari and Pulis fitness philosophy is what is required for Stoke.

The average managers tenure is something daft like 9 or 10 months in thechampionship. We're not really that different. 3 clubs every year get it right and a couple of those are usually last years relegated premier league teams. So really everyone else is fighting for 1 or 2 promotion spots in reality. I'm just hoping JC has finally made a correct call, 6th time lucky perhaps 😉

I like Shuey how he comes across & we have seen some really good performances under him. (Boro & Plymouth at home)
However, we’ve also seen some dire ones. Swansea away was just embarrassing… Sheff wed away, if they had taken their chances then they would have been out of sight in the first half. Norwich at home… I recall their manager doing an interview midweek before the game & stating that Norwich will be tactically too good for us. Now I expected a reaction from shuey on the following satdy but they came here, played us off the park & won 3-0. He was spot on.
I called it when SS was appointed that it was bizarre to give him a lengthy contract as he was inexperienced. I know he got Plymouth promoted last season & fair play too him for that but Stoke is a completely different kettle of fish.
I’m really on the fence whether I’d like him to stay or go. Part of me thinks let’s give him a chance to bring his own players in & judge him then. The other part is saying that I said the same with AN & we all know how that panned out.

Personally, I’m glad we’ve got him.
Do I believe there are better managers out there? Of course I do. That’s only really if we were ever going to expand our search beyond British candidates though.
As it is, we have someone who’s only real consistently dodgy spell came when the director of football was (presumably) acting so out of line and causing so many problems around the club that they got fired mid season (a pretty rare event for that role).
If we can get another 3 or 4 promising players this summer along the lines of Bae, Burger, Manhoef and Junior (and why not? The recruitment team has been in place a full season now) then we’ll actually be pretty well off first team wise. Would I trust Schumacher to give those players a lot of game time while still doing reasonably well in the league? Enough to keep him in place for the start of next season I’d say.

Good, felt for too many seasons we’ve gone in undercooked and not fit. Cut out the foreign jollies and get the buggers up and down hills and friendlies played no more than 2 hrs drive away…..and plenty of them.

Given the bag of shit he took on I think the best he could have achieved was to stay up. He’s done that Now he’s got recruitment and a pre season. He seems a good character and had success at Plymouth
I’m backing him to deliver next year with a minimum of a top six challenge as a target

I can't tell you wheteher he will be a success the same as you can't tell me he will fail. He'll get his backing in the transfer market to build his own squad and time will tell. In regards to this season, he was bought in to stop the free fall into league 1 and he's done that. It's not been pretty at times but there has been some good signs but he'll be judged, or at least should be, on next season not the shambles of this season and rightly so.

Would you have thought the same about Pulis at the time too? We were fucking awful under him at times then he managed to sign Hendrie, Burger, Delap, Diao & Griffin adding them to the core of Ric, Mama, Lawrence, Eustace & Higgy and the rest is history. Even though we didn't go up that season, the foundations were set for the following season. If Schumacher/Walters/Dublin can find the right 5/6 players in the summer, who knows what the next two years could bring.

2 weeks at least up & down hills just get them fit FFS.
1 week away getting all the new & present players, bonding, getting used to tactics plus a friendly.
Then back to have at least 6 friendlies,at least 2 at home against top teams.

I think you've misread/misunderstood this particularly ranking. It's by their career record not their record this season, so includes Schumacher's 100 points (or whatever he got) whilst Plymouth manager in League 1.
