If you accept that’s what we are, then it’s a dangerous road to go down. There is no excuse for us to be that bad or accept being so. Other clubs have made a decent fist of this league without being anything special. We can’t have another season of being crap. Don’t expect us to win the league but accepting 14th - 20th? Nah. Next stop after that is down into League One. We don't have a choice. We have a super rich owner that can't spend money, and if he could would continue to make the same mistakes he does currently. Accepting it doesn't mean you endorse it, but we have to be honest with ourselves. League One in the next few years looks like a serious possibility. We're going to struggle this season without a minor miracle in the next week or so. The possibility of a new manager again before we stick a firelighter up Guy Fawkes' arse is again quite high. It's depressing and self defeating but it's only what we've been conditioned to over the last 6/7 years and if we look at ourselves in the mirror and be brutally honest there is very little to be positive about it changing in the near future. It really isn’t that difficult but yet again we are making a pig’s dick of trying to right the wrongs of previous years. Our budget compared to other sides who have managed to make a promotion charge is probably still massive. It isn’t hard to build a side to at least challenge in this league, but we haven’t managed one in 6 or 7 years. We are, yet again, lacking any identity and idea of what we want to be as a club. West Brom might not have got back up yet, but every season they are in and amongst it because they sign the right players and make the right managerial appointments. This last week needs to be a fantastic one for us.

Negative starting XI.
Weird subs.
Thought today was up there with some of the worst shit we’ve had to put up with in a while.

If something doesn’t happen for stoke in the first 15/20 minutes of a game; then we panic and start dropping further further back. The problem is, we aren’t able to make anything happen within the 20 mins, so invariably we go into panic stations most games.

worrying to think that SS thought we were OK and unlucky to get anything out of the game that sort of blinkered thinking is infuriating We hit the post twice and Million missed an open goal so we should of got something from the game They missed two good chances as well. One post and Million were part of the same phase of play. We could have scored three. They could have scored 4 or more.

It's early days and no need to panic . However...the substitutions were all over the place and effectively sealed the defeat.Playing Gooch on the left again after last week was also madness and 1st half today he was horrific. If he ends up getting schooled by Rooney next week things could get uncomfortable for him and like last season he will need to pull a few rabbits out of the hat. I made this point at the game. We had changes to make that could affect the game, but I’m not sure making 5 changes helps overall. It’s half a side of players not up to speed. I know they did the same, but the last 10 minutes especially was complete shit. The introduction of Baker was not a good one, absolutely killed us and some of his play was terrible. 5 subs just means you throw any old shit at it in desperation. Might work on the off chance, but don’t think it’s a great thing overall. Always found it interesting last season when they’d talk about McKenna at Ipswich referring to ‘subs’ as finishers and it being pre-planned depending on the scenario they find themselves in during the game. That couldn’t be further from what successive Stoke managers have offered. Our decision making is that of someone who’s been awoken by a fire alarm in the middle of the night. Complete and utter panic, just hoping for the best.

We really should be seeing some kind of identity for the team by now but it seems to be lacking still. When the window closes he has to be seen to shape the players he has into a formation and team otherwise questions are going to rightly be asked. Jury still out for me given he was hardly doing great with Plymouth when we took him. Incidentally, can’t wait to be at Home Park next week to watch us become Wayne Rooney’s first league victory Next week is absolutely huge. Plymouth will be going all out for their first win. We have to get something from the game.

He said something in the interview about making a change to counter a change they had made which he didn’t expect. So I’m guessing they’d trained all week on one thing and at the last minute had to change it. It was a bizarre admission and tactically extremely worrying

Depressing to hear SS think that yesterday was not too far off. I thought the gap between stoke and Albion was as big as it has been for a while.
I just do mot get what our midfield is doing. It looks an unorganised mess. The press was out of sync The full backs don't know where they are going.
The play out of the back breeds anxiety.
3 CBs on the pitch and we lose out to a back post header and then change and leave a forward unmarked.
The change in formation was weird and looks like he has no confidence in his team
Constantly talking about what oppositions are doing.
It is feeling very Alex Neil at the minute.

Just get rid of the clueless buffoon. Managerially what the F was that, honestly Key Stone Cops His stats aren't disastrous yet, but they are heading that way. 2 unbelievably poor performances and players all over the place in an unfancied, negative formation. Very very poor start that's for sure. 1.00 ppg so far it’s the poor performance’s that’s worse than the results , no one really minds losing if we play well

It's the last two interviews that breed so much mistrust in a manager. Just be honest and call it for what it is. But let's be honest. Changing a manager won't make a blind bit of difference. Our long term trajectory is downwards to League One and it's now more obvious than ever just where our real issue is on the football side of the club.

The whole timing of the transfer window extending into the season is wrong but that aside, our efforts so far have been baffling. It’s either a complete shambles or ( I’m ever the optimist) a master plan that will be revealed this week in all its glory. Reading comments on here the general jury is out on Schumacher and I am beginning to have doubts myself. As Gary says this week needs to be a fantastic one because if it isn’t we are in big trouble.

Some of SS comments after the last 2 defeat scream out were in big trouble why not just state the obvious we are very poor & lacking in certain areas which need to be addressed this week. This week is massive for the club they must get it right or another poor season beckons which could see us sink into league 1.

We played a well organised compact team, whose system helped them move the ball forward when we pressed them. They were rarely in trouble in possession because their teammates took up positions that supported them. They were quick to get into shape defensively; everyone knew their jobs and appeared to have the skill sets to carry out those jobs. The inspired performance of our Liverpool loanee did cause some problems for their slower turning CBs which they solved in part by dropping deeper second half.
We fielded a talented squad, who seemed to be very confused. Many of the players are new so a level of confusion is to be expected, and accepted. What isn’t acceptable though is players being asked to perform roles that they clearly do not understand and do not have the skills and knowledge to succeed in. Junior is a very young defender with limited tactical awareness. Give him clear defensive responsibilities, allow him to make runs forward when there is space in front of him and he will be fine. Ask him to be Philip Lahm, or an inside right and he will be awful. He was constantly in the way going forward and nowhere to be seen defending. He was not alone. Yesterday’s set up totally exposed the limitations of Junior, Gooch, and Bocat. Laurent and Thompson were far too stretched. The three flair players did look promising but were hampered, rather than helped by the confusion of those around them.
The substitutions were mindless. Mindless.
Too early to pass a judgement but SS needs to understand what his players can, and can’t do pretty quickly.
Yesterday’s performance was totally down to his muddled coaching. Schumacher’s coaching was a barrier to the success of his players yesterday. The contrast between the effect of our coach and Albion’s was night and day.

Changing your preferred system because you’re worried about the opposition is the start of a very slippery slope.
We completely outplayed yesterday’s opponents towards the end of last season so why didn’t the manager use that game as a blueprint for this one?

It is far too early to pass judgement. We are only four games into the new season and the transfer window is still open.
Yesterday was a little weird. On one hand, having hit the post twice we should have taken something from the game. On the other hand, we did not look at all convincing and I thought tactically we looked a little muddled at times.
The Plymouth game is important now.

It felt very much like an Nathan Jones performance today. When we saw the starting XI walking up to the game you pretty much knew what was coming. Add in the crap tactics and defeat was no surprise. We've got about 5 coaches yet look like we haven't a clue. As much as the starting XI was poor, tactically we're dreadful. It was only Walter's helping hand last season which saved him his job. SS the person, I really like. SS the manager, I'm still not sure. Next Saturday is huge. Did you predict hitting the post twice too? No, but it was a meek and disjointed performance as you could see yesterday and gave them the advantage from the get go.
