Dear Ben, If you're reading this drivel, please ignore it. This post was created by an attention seeking bell end. Get well soon, and look forward to seeing you in the Red & White soon. Yours, A sane Stoke supporter Why this crap is not instantly shiy binned I have no idea Because it’s fucking spot on. 🤣🤷♂️🤦♂️

The whole defence (bar Junior,) goalkeeper included, shouldn't be here next season, regardless of which division we're in!!

They shouldn’t but Stevie Wonder can see that Rose and McNally is about the only partnership that works (just) for us. This thread also highlights how blind people are re Wilmot. It’s an insanely funny read from people who never fucking learn.

Rita is attention seeking again everybody! Ah yeah because he was excellent again. Superb defender, good enough for the PL. You’ll learn one day.

There were plenty who didn’t like Wilmot pre injury. I wasn’t one of them.
Post injury, he’s absolutely miles off it.

I’ve always been fairly ambivalent towards him. He’s had some decent games and he’s had some absolute horrors. A decent partner and I always felt he could be decent enough. Post injury, he’s a million miles off the pace and is worse than he’s ever been.

He tries hard, but just not good enough, I shudder when I watch Rose and Mcnally …. Remember the tricumbent of Shawcross, Huth and Faye playing in the red and white not so long ago ….. we’ve fallen a long way. in my 42 years of watching Stoke I’m not sure we’ve had a worse quartet of centre half options …. We can’t even start the full back or striker conversation until the centre half situation is resolved.

Ben Wilmot can do some things ok but he has no clue how to behave as a grown up centre back in a men’s team.
He plays football like a 17-year-old whose parents went away for the weekend and he didn’t know how to work the washing machine so he took a mad guess and poured Fairy Liquid into it and now the whole kitchen is full of soapy bubbles.
If Phil Jagielka was still here he’d tell Ben what to do, but now we just have Rose and McNally who also don’t know how to work the washing machine, so that’s why we’re basically fucked.

I like this analogy a lot. Apart from when Rose and McNally play together as a pair, about half the time they get lucky and manage to get the washing machine working despite some bumps in the road it ends with a clean sheet.

Been saying it for ages, if he's next to someone who is commanding and tells him what he needs to do then he's capable of listening and being competent but if you ask him to be the leader he's got no authority and he also doesn't know how to handle situations and thus his partner(s) don't know what to do either

I think our defence as a whole is the poorest we've had in excess of 20 years.
Even in rubbish recent times we've usually had at least one centre back who is fairly solid but this lot are a complete shambles. Every time the opposition approach our defensive third it looks inevitable that we'll give up clear goal scoring chances.

Sad thing is he was bought in as a promising up and coming CB who'd represented England at youth level and was one to nurture for the future. He's gotten considerably worse in his time here!

It’s fucking Gash the centre back situation You mean to tell me that we don’t have an u21 player that is better than Wilmot or rose and McNally for that matter He can’t pass Can’t tackle that well Had no positional awareness Can’t head that well Isn’t that strong on the ball He does not read the game and gets drawn to the ball leaving huge gaps Oh and the signing of Keiran Clark was another masterclass by some tit at the club not fit and the season will be over before he will be able to play quite probably Well done someone And as for iversen if he is the answer I don’t know what the question is Two decent saves yesterday got him a bit of credit but his kicking is woeful

Pre-injury he was a 6/10 just about OK as third-choice CB at this level.
Now he's absolutely fucking awful. Comfortably worse than both McNally and Rose, which is a level of wank I can barely even comprehend.

Just watched the highlights package. Teams must love playing against us. We leave so many gaps and get caught out by the through ball far too much.

It’s not an excuse and I’m not particularly defending him but centre halves play in pairs. He hasn’t played with anyone decent other than Souttar when he looked half decent as a young centre half. Maybe he’s so bad that he’d make a decent centre half look worse than they are. Who knows. I was merely hoping he’d be better alongside a competent partner.

Remind me again how bad Shawcross looked when playing alongside Ashley Williams and Cuco Martina. When you have to do multiple jobs to make up for the incompetence of those around you, you tend to look bad yourself. We agree that he’s pretty crap. I was merely hoping he’d be better as he undoubtedly arrived with potential to mature into a decent player. He’s struggling badly since injury and has struggled really since the departure of Souttar.

I don’t think he looked that bad. I thought people just went ott. He was crap with Souttar though, nothing has changed. He can’t do anything well. And Souttar himself isn’t that good.

I think his back injury hasn't helped him one bit either. He is definitely slower than he was for sure.

Never has been and never will be.
Some of our supporters think he's great as he did a good forward ball once.

Wilmot is just backup now. I would cash in on him in January and put the money towards a strong goalscorer who can lead the line. And in other news man with leaky roof buys new carpet.
