AlexPritchard has joined Sivasspor this summer so if it appealed to him and the finances worked then it potentially could do for Josh too.

Bit of detail in this Turkish site, saying fee agreed but Stoke still trying to convice Laurent www.sivasmemleket.com.tr/sivasspor-josh-laurent-transferinde-stoke-city-ile-anlasti#Trendyol Super League 2024-2025 season transfer operations continue without a break , Sivasspor reached an agreement with Stoke City regarding 26-year-old midfielder Josh Laurent . The red-white team, which has increased their interest in transfers in recent days, continues their talks to convince Laurent for the transfer, even though they have reached an agreement with the English team. It is stated that Josh Laurent has also received interest from Europe and the Gaziantep FK team, but does not want to rush the transfer. Laurent played 40 matches for Stoke City this season, scoring 3 goals and making 3 assists.

Even if he’s rejected this one, I can’t see him staying here now after us accepting offers and effectively taking the captaincy off him. Sounds like he’s got a few options.
Just hope it doesn’t rumble on for ages and stop us sorting his replacement in good time.

this could drag on I hate the summer transfer window, it's far too long ideally it would either all be done by end of June or even better fucked off alltogether

Didn’t think he’d fancy a move to Turkey… He’ll either end up at Birmingham or a southern based club Good luck to him - I like him but he frustrates me at the same time

I get that the player can't be forced but the lost revenue funds and squad impact of these failed deals seems unfair.

I'd rather have Pugwash than Laurant the Capt of Stoke.

We’ve accepted a fee, I wonder whether Josh will accept the offer? Wasn’t he interested in going to Italy last summer, perhaps he fancies a move abroad and his agent has been sounding teams out? He’s not half as bad as many make out and he’s obviously a well liked player around the squad. But it’s probably the right time to move on for both parties. Be interesting to see if he goes abroad or stays in England. On the positive side, if we have accepted an offer we hopefully have someone else lined up. It will be nice to freshen it up in the midfield. He's not bad player as such but he's just not consistent. In 30 odd games last season he might have performed above average in 10 of them. More often than not he has under performed. His performance however,as a supposed captain, was dreadful. Head down as soon as we conceded, his manager telling him how to lead is not what you want at elite level. There is also a reason why in a 10+ year career he has never commanded a transfer fee once. I think the cliche "flatters to deceive" is very fitting for him.

He has got a young family so it's no surprise he's turned it down if they aren't on board with it. He'll most likely still leave you'd expect.

Looks to me that the pally clique of Laurent and Campbell is one the manager didn't like. They might be nice people but we need winners in the dressing room. Agreed, I think there's some truth in this. Both are very nice guys who are clearly best mates and they are also decent players. But they have possibly held a wee bit too much sway and power within the dressing room and to be successful that power & responsibility needs to be with one or two of the manager's lieutenant's....Schuey has already said that Ben Gibson will be looking after the dressing room and will no doubt be named captain too I guess. Glen Whelan took care of the dressing room and as the song goes "Everybody needs a Whelan"

Just looking at the latest training vid on youtube and watched out for laurent and the only 2 clips of him are jogging around the pitch with who i assume is a coach or??. Not included in any of the ball work clips with the team at all so either hes got a niggle or he's not being included .

www.nytimes.com/athletic/live-blogs/transfer-news-live-updates/0fRjuQ4rIv2T/F6oMDOfVQv2O/Josh Laurent has rejected a move to Sivasspor after Stoke City agreed a deal worth £500,000 ($650,000) with the Turkish club. The 29-year-old club captain has one year left on his contract and Stoke — as reported by The Athletic in last week's Transfer DealSheet — are prepared to negotiate on an exit. The deal was agreed between the clubs but Laurent didn't engage in negotiations regarding personal terms. Laurent has made 78 appearances at Stoke since arriving in 2022, scoring eight times with six assists. He is currently training with the Stoke squad and featured in the 3-0 pre-season victory over Chester City on Thursday. Birmingham City are also interested in signing Laurent, but at this stage there has been no agreement between the clubs or on personal terms with Laurent who is unlikely to want to drop into League One. Other clubs in the Championship are known to be monitoring the situation regarding engaging in negotiations.

Half a million sounds about right. We'll need to spend more to replace him but if we can get, say Cundle, it's worth emptying out Josh. If only a club that isn't from a backward hellhole was interested. Was hopeful re Sivas but we're stuck with Birmingham atm...

Cundle in plus room in the squad for Sidibe. Then we could use one of our 5 loan slots for a third midfielder. How likely would this be?

Not improbable however think Baker might be ripe for a good season Baker looks in the thick of everything in the vids posted…maybe he’s been given a definitive roll this season provided he stays fit, getting rid of him…Laurent and Johnson would be overkill imo, he offers the most out of all 3 imo🔴⚪️

He wasn't in the side tonight was he Hamstring “injury” so missed the match as a “precaution.” Read into that what you will. I’m really pleased we are trying to move him on.

Hope he stays - best midfielder on the pitch last night, by some margin Seriously? He wasn’t even close to Thompson. I honestly thought he was deliberately hiding from the ball he showed for it that little. He also probably gets sent off if he has a tantrum like that in the league.

Hope he stays - best midfielder on the pitch last night, by some margin How often do we get to say that about Laurent though? He isn’t consistent enough, and he hasn't been since we’ve had him. One of the biggest disappointments for me. Bloke is built like a brick shithouse but never shows it on the pitch.

Laurent should certainly play in a midfield 3 from what we have to choose from at the moment. I think Thompson is overrated by a lot on this board, my opinion, and I'd rather offload Baker who brings too little to the team overall as I see it.
