Six new players last week, Pearson and others were shockingly bad.
He has to batten down the hatches and not risk getting ripped apart again.
I thought Thompson was one of the better players lest week, but that's not saying much.
It's going to take a couple of months to turn a bunch of strangers into an effective team, that starts with defending well.

Setting himself up for a fall. If we win nothing will be said, a loss and he will get hammered and rightly so
352 is a negative shit formation that leaves you a player short up top and unable to press

Clive Clark on radio Stoke nearly always seems to be the commentry for a Stoke poor performance, he always sounds depressed and negative

Stupid own goal by Neil being so defensive at home. Falling asleep already. The fans want us to go for it at home, seems this is too much to ask. Can feel the optimism that was briefly around draining fast. Why oh why?!

Absolutely wank..shit team ..shit..performance..change it .. There wasn’t anything wrong with that performance, we were the better side and caused them problems until the end product. My main worry is I haven’t seen anything at all to be worried about with Watford that could make me think we needed 3 at the back. McNally and Rose have been poor with the ball but we’ve been good. May as well drop a centre back and bring on an attacking player but it’s been working alright.

Had my concerns before the game but fair play to AN, an excellent result 👍

Or he thinks it's the best way to beat them........ 5-3-2 He’s counting it as a bonus game and trying to hold on to the draw. So negative for a home side. Good bonus game in the end then 🤫

It was obvious why now, if went 4 3 3 with Hoever as right back - we lose that game. I was amazed how ineffective Hoever was. The number of times he was 10 yards out of position, falling over, losing tackles was breathtaking. Good thing the middle 3 defenders were solid. Laurent was having to cover for him all but the formation AN chose made it work.

I fucking love reading these threads. Every fucking time it's the same.
If he picks a 'great team we lose and if he 'bottles it' we play well.

Hoever needs a hard working winger in front of him to create space for him to run into and help with his defensive lapses. I'm convinced that was the primary reason we went 352 today. Well that and not having a fully fit DM to cover him. Thompson doesn't have the football brain to play that role in a 433.

We very rarely had more than 2 people in the box at home because of how we set up. Early in the second half we had a flat 5 across the backline. At home. Don't be conned by the result.

Looks like he's shit himself and gone for the back 5 already. Disappointing. Very disappointing.

Disagree, it'll be back to a back four when the Algerian Brown arrives. We would have been mullered with Hoever and Chiquinho down the right hand side.

if he had gone for the same tactics as the ipswich game and come unstuck in a similar fashion , he would have been hammered .
he had to address the problems that came to light at ipswich and did .
agree that hoever and chiquino down the right wont work.
we have made a lot of signings ...vidigal has gone off like a rocket , chiquino and Mmaee not so clever .
There are signs that maybe Mmaee might come good ? in time ? But AN has to get points on the board today .
AN is paid to make the call and called it right .
Any argument , well what if we hadn't won? is daft .
He called it right
And from the team sheet it appears AN knows where we need to strengthen by September 1st

Maybe we would, maybe we wouldn't. I'd like to think that there is more than one way to make a 433 solid enough at HOME and retain more of a threat up front rather than reaching for the back 5 at the first sign of trouble. What is he saying, that he can't get his 433 working against a team that will press us and the only way around it is to sit deep at home in a back 5 and hope for a wonder strike? Pretty damning of him, his coaching team and the work they do on the training ground if true. Even Pulis managed to do that with a back 4...

Playing 5 at the back at home is bottling it, no matter how the manager tries to explain it away. I can't remember troubling Bachmann much outside of Vidigal's wonder strike and his effort in the first half that was comfortably saved...both from the edge of the area. If that's what he's classing as the best way of winning the game then that's very interesting in itself. I look at it another way. Had Vidigal's effort not gone in the marks and tone of the posts on here would be very different, which I think proves the point. Fine margins as we know. Some people can look beyond the giddiness of a win, others can't and I respect that.
