Disappointed to be honest agree with the onlooker he’s shit the bed and reverted back to 3-5-2 honestly thought we’d seen the end of it. Sends out the message that we’re settling for a point to me hope I’m wrong. I've got no issues with the system per se. Got a big issue with a manager bringing in 11 players specifically for 433, where it clearly needs time to gel. Then swapping it out as soon as we get a beating. What did he expect? With a patience that thin he could post on here. He'd fit right in. He's put huge pressure on himself and the team here. To be honest I think the manager has said he's tried to bring players in who can play in various ways to beat differing styles of teams in this league bot just for one formation in particular.

I’m no fan of Thompson but Pearson hasn’t looked anywhere near the standard of fitness required so far. Pearson didn't give the physical presence needed last week.. and thats gonna be needed even more today v Watford.. tome for cpt Lauren, Thompson and Johnson to step up. Yep , Pearson was bloody awful last week when they pressed us. Same needed today as you said

Most likely is Pearson has a niggle, he is still after another midfield player as doesn't really want Thompson in there but has no option so has gone 3 at the back for a little bit more protection & an added physical presence in the 3rd CB, against a side that are themselves always physical Big Wes isnt quite up to speed fitness wise either so not an awful idea to get some legs around him & Vidigal close to goal
Dont think its anything to get twisted up about & just part of the process we are still undergoing

I'm just someone who believes in giving things a chance before judging. IF played correctly wingback formations are the most attacking ones. Upto the players to go out there and play correctly though, It's only negative if your players making it negative, once they cross that white line it's upto them to do their jobs..nobody else. Massively concerning that he clearly doesn't believe in the players he has signed and the system he signed them for That said the team always looked messy and was exposed at Ipswich - if you are playing 4-3-3 then why sign two wingbacks as fullbacks ? Window isn't open much longer and we are only being linked with unproven foreign players which also surprises me and begs the question who really is pulling the strings You have to have different setups for different opposition. Changing formation today doesn't necessarily mean he has lost faith in it. They will have done their research and clearly feel this formation will work better against Watford. Only time will tell if it will. If it doesn't, atleast we have the personnel this season to switch to a back 4 at any point.

Why? If played right these formation are the most attacking ones 🤣 He’s scared of them and changed the team to a back five at home. It’s negative. Or he thinks it's the best way to beat them........

Pearson will know himself he was shite and he’ll want to put it right today not get dropped and replaced with the utter crap Thompson. Whatever way you look at it’s shit house management, why not drop Laurent who was as bad if not worse.

We're going 5-3-2 then, so why not play Tymon (a left wing-back) at left wing-back, instead of a left full-back??? Don't start with the square pegs already Neil!!! Stevens has been a wingback for most of his career but don't let facts get in the way. Well I wasn't really aware of that, I thought he was mainly a full-back, but then again, I don't claim to be a Stato.... Personally, I didn't even know who he was until he came Stoke, which can be said for virtually the entire squad!!! However, that said.... I think a younger more energetic wing-back (Tymon) would be more ideal to be playing the wing-back position than a aged one (in football terms)!!! That's just my way of thinking though, for what it's worth!!!

I hope you’re right I really do. Rant over from me I hope I’m wrong I really do. I’m basing my opinion on Thomson’s selection on his career at Stoke to date rather than the game at WBA. I just don’t see what he brings to the table but maybe the bigger problem is not him but the lack of alternatives particularly in relation to big physical midfielders who can bully the opposition rather than them being bullied. I'm just someone who believes in giving things a chance before judging. IF played correctly wingback formations are the most attacking ones. Upto the players to go out there and play correctly though, It's only negative if your players making it negative, once they cross that white line it's upto them to do their jobs..nobody else. I don't have an issue with the formation it's more the personal being used. I thought that Stevens was excellent v Rotherham I'm just not convinced he has the engine or pace to be a wingback any more. In relation to the CM there's clearly not many options at the club at the moment but throughout his Stoke career I dont remember one match where Thompson stood out. I'm sure he's a good egg but for me he's a D1 standard player and when in posession really slows the attacks down and usually goes backwards. As you say though we have to give it a chance. Hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised.

I don’t mind playing 5 at the back. It McNally is in the centre and both Rose and Wilmot are under orders to support the attack and pass forwards as much as possible, then it could be okay.
Thompson as DM is a bit of a concern but at least he’ll be aggressive.

Isn't that why we're buying the Algerian lad who looks like a Brown replacement and the other young winger. I think he knows we need a more mobile left back as well. Stevens has quality but is slow. Tymon has pace but no clue how to defend. But playing Thompson, who's more left sided allows you to play Tymon! He could have played Stevens left sided center back behind Tymon. Smacks of playing the loan player or fitting him in! Anyway the proof is in the pudding! Didn't Pearson need dropping after last week, Thompson played well against West Brom? Despite the conspiracy theories about Pearson I think it's nothing more than he's been playing while not 100% fit. Why are people so desperate for Tymon to play? His form fell off a cliff last season after he came back from injury. Stevens has been a very good wingback over the years. Let's see how he does.

After Pearsons shambolic performance last week it will be a kick up the arse.

Three at the back with no left footer is a concern. I thought Stevens could play LCB as well a la Luke Shaw, thus allowing Tymon to go forward. Either way let’s see. Alex has se himself up with this formation but let’s trust him.

On the plus side
Usually when a line up gets crucified on here pre game, we win.
It's a bit Gudjon at Walsall for me on paper but we need changes after last week.

The players were shocking. Simple as that. Once on the pitch it is upto them to do their jobs and perform..not one of them did. When a whole team doesn't do their job that isn't down to the manager, he can't physically control them.

Every opposition team drops a ball into the space where tyman is meant to be and we get caught out every time down his left hand side. Give Stevens a chance hopefully his positioning is better than tyman. We also dont need Stevens bombing up and down as we have hoever on the right side. Stevens can sit on and lock that side up freeing hoever up to attack.

We will only know if this worked or not after the game. Never understood fans decided something won't work before it's been tried. Same when some write a player off before he's kicked a ball for us. Just strange behaviour from some

I hardly think Persons performance was 'shambolic' last week - he was poor but I'd reserve the 'shambolic' comment for Laurent and yet he starts again.
