Any reason given? He's been there for a few years which is an achievement in that Division. Kidsgrove off to a flyer this season, after many years of struggle at that level as well. The chairman from 1874 Northwich told me yesterday Kidsgrove have had some money pumped into them that's usually the case with any team that suddenly starts winning games, its the same all the way down the ladder but very noticeable at that level, occasionally backfires.

To be honest I think it's about timing and enjoying retirement with Bakes, and to be honest and I watch them a lot...Leek seem to have lost the fight since being god knows how many points clear in COVID! Although it's a sad time as he has been a great manager I actually think it is needed! Kidsgrove have always been a solid side in this league and seem to have added well! They may, just may take some beating...added to that most the solid sides have gone, Worthington, Macc etc...but knowing this league it will be wide open come the end of season! The last time I saw Kidsgrove, they were walloped 9-0 at Sheffield FC on a wet, windy Tuesday night. Those 5 Kidsgrove fans who made the journey had a long drive home that night.

Mickleover top of Southern Central Premier League, six wins out of six, five points clear of second place, goal difference +15. Big FA Cup match next Saturday v Ilkeston Town who weirdly are only about ten miles away but in the Northern section along with Stafford Rangers. I'm not sure how they work out these leagues. Mickelover's first game this season in the Southern Central division was at Saint Ives. The leagues are regional so as to reduce the amount of away travel but I can't think of a team further away from Mickelover than Saint Ives!

I have a season ticket at Leek and this season the team is definitely not of the quality of recent seasons. Couple of steady players moved on or injured at the moment but the games I’ve seen apart from the Trafford game were poor. Defensively they were poor today and the difference was Kidsgrove took their chances whereas Leek didn’t . I’ve known Bake since his Cheadle United days and the heady days of the seventies when a load of us from Leek went in a mini bus to most away games. The performance today was a shadow of the performances of last season and Leek will not make the play offs this season unless a better quality of player is brought in and the new manager whoever that is gets the players tp perform to a much higher standard.

HAve you got Liam Buckley playing at left back, he lives around the corner from me and was on Stoke's books until he was about 15?

Transitional season for Carnoustie Panmure - beaten 4-2 mid-week off of Dundee St James who're absolutely pish. On Saturday looking at a credible 0-0 vs East Cragie only for the full back to slip on his arse with 2 minutes to go. Keeper saves the first shot, defender blocks the follow up but it bounces off their player into the empty net. Best they've played all season so far but when your luck is out!

Stafford Rangers vs Matlock Town for me yesterday.
Attendance was 743, including around 40 from Matlock.
Rangers conceded early but levelled with a penalty, and then controlled the rest of the first half, lots of chances and a few good saves from the away keeper kept them in it. A moment of madness from the Rangers keeper in the 44 min, long ball over the top, he caught the ball but then for some reason decided to raises his leg and with stoods up his boot hit the oncoming Matlock striker in the chest, straight red card.
Jake Moult (Louis Moults brother) had to go in goal and conceded 2 goals that a keeper would have easily saved (no blame on him) as no reserve keeper on the bench, finished 4-2 Matlock, but Stafford still created loads of chances even with 10 men and an outfield player in goal. I’ve never seen such a good performance result in a 4-2 loss.

I was at Hednesford v chasetown derby yesterday.went to the game at widnes on Saturday played at a soulless stadium the rugby team use aswel an we got a real battering so was expecting the worst against chasetown who had won 3 an drawn 1 so far but we put in a really improved performance an managed to get a point in a 1-1 draw.a fantastic crowd of 1486 there to go with the 700 and 600 so far at home this season and both the away games at Newcastle and widnes we have outnumbered the home fans so it's great to see the fans getting behind the club in our current situation.

Went to West Dids and Chorlton v Chadderton yesterday. Beat 3-1. Injured keeper and no sub goalie cost them the comeback. Decent crowd, 890. Bury away next week, shame that’s fallen on a stoke home game.

I really enjoyed visiting Hednesford for the first time last week against Kidsgrove. Excellent set up there and will definitely come back. Very nice to go through those turnstiles from the Victoria Ground.

It was a good game last Tuesday,so far kidsgrove have been the best team we have played this season, sat was more us than widnes, wasnt that impressed with chasetown.were lucky to have a ground like we have at Hednesford, although the cost of running it are a big part of the problems we've had.

Yeh, they looked a bit bigger, quicker and erm......leaner all over the pitch. West couldn't get anything through the middle of them 1st half. 2nd half they were on the ropes though, West got their better players on the ball a bit more and they were all over them, got a goal back, couple of balls fizzing across the box. Then Wests keeper went down, you knew if they got a chance they'd close it out.

Yes it is. They also sell some great beers in the club bar. Mickleover Beers often feature as their guest beer. I think they are predominantly supplied by Greene King but do have a guest beer slot. They also have a beer festival fairly regularly in a marquee. The great thing about non league is that you can drink pitch side. They even serve the beers in plastic mugs with a convenient handle to hook over the fence. Don't think it's intentional but works really well☺️☺️

Still seems strange that in a competition trying to minimise travel Mickleover are in a different division to Ilkeston and Stafford Rangers both on roughly the same latitude and very close. You are right though the line has to be drawn somewhere. They won't complain either if the Northern section is stronger than the Southern Central which would appear the case at the moment. Saturday will be interesting as Ilkeston have often been about the same standard as Mickleover yet are firmly in midtable with 9 points. Local rivalry will play a part but an interesting chance to compare the two leagues. I'm quite disappointed that I will be at Stoke but wouldn't give up a Stoke match for Mickleover.

Hanley Town beat Cleethorpes in the FA Trophy (2-0) and play the oldest football club Sheffield FC at home in the next round.
Kidsgrove continue their fantastic start to the season with a 6-0 win at Gresley.

Leek Town are at home to South Shields in the FA cup third qualifying round tomorrow. Its live on the red button on the BBC 12.30 , all ticket for those who are planning to go .Should be a big crowd tbh (1000+ is my guess) winners go in to the last qualifying round then the first round proper.
