Not fair on the player to make him play in a friendly. He's handed in a transfer request, he has a chance of a contract which will secure his future financially, and colchester treat him like that? He should refuse to play and think of his future He’s contracted to them, it’s absolutely fair.

Comments like that make me laugh because I’m sure they’d be like “yeah you go and rest before you move” if it was one of our lot doing it. And not calling them all the names under the sun as well as lazy and a mercenary. And I agree. Tbh it’s good for us that he played today and presumably came through it unscathed.

Yeah I agree with him playing today, we've seen people on here talking about players like Axel not getting a proper preseason, yet Junior is getting one by playing. He'll sign, it's just a matter of time.

How would we react if for instance Campbell refused to play because he wanted to go to Sheffield or Everton? Players have a contract to stick to as long as they have signed them themselves in my opinion! you are right another story for another day ... by the end of august , are we going to be in the same position with campbell ? that colchester may well be with junior ? if campbell hasn't signed a contract by the back end of august , we should be looking to sell him , because he will also be in the last year of his contract . tricky , he is good enough to play for us , but if he is not going to sign a contract , we should probably be looking to sell .

He can also be a very frustrating player to watch at times, but on top of his game he certainly brings something to the team.

www.gazette-news.co.uk/news/23688634.colchester-united-wing-back-junior-tchamadeu-linked-stoke-city/BEN Garner insists Colchester United are ‘prepared for all eventualities’ amid speculation linking Junior Tchamadeu with a move away from the club. Tchamadeu has been linked with a switch to Championship club Stoke City in this summer’s transfer window, with Colchester confirming that they have received interest in their academy product. When asked if the wing-back would be involved for the U’s in their season opener against Swindon Town next Saturday, boss Garner admitted it was difficult to predict. Garner said: “Who knows? We never know the future in football" “My focus at the moment is that Junior is here with us – we’re working with him every day and enjoying doing so. “It was a strong performance from him today and you could see the endeavour and quality that he still brings to the team. “Our focus is making Junior a better player every day, unless we’re told otherwise.” “We’re prepared for all eventualities,” added Garner. “In my head, if Junior stays, it’s fantastic from our point of view, we’re keeping a very, very talented player; if the club accepts an offer and he’s moving on, then we’ve got contingency plans in place to deal with that. “We want to be just as strong, even if he does move on. “With any player, we’ve got a shortlist for each position in the team, if any player was to move on. “Like with any of our players, we could get a phone call tomorrow and if we get a £1.5m offer then there’s every chance they’re going to go, so we’re ready for that and we’re prepared for any player that does leave the club.

Tom Edwards played against Burton and then two days later signed for Huddersfield. So I wouldn’t read too much into him playing in that friendly.

Slightly different, he only came on because there was an injury otherwise he would've been unused. I do agree largely though it doesn't really mean anything that he played yesterday other than we've clearly not agreed a deal yet.

Bastards using their own player that they own and probably trying to drum up more interest so they can make more money. How dare they!!

Viewed from the Colchester perspective it makes sense to give game time to a player who may yet be with them for the season. It might also be a way of demonstrating to Stoke and other interested parties that they are happy to keep him unless their financial demands are met.

I don't think this is about the value of one player. It's about the total budget in the window. If that additional payment means we can't get our first choice CB or cover for Pearson or another loan then Stoke have to hold the line. Truth is none of us know how much extra they want, the payment terms or what sell on clauses have been tabled.
