Not bad news is it?
He’s frustrating is our Ben. I think you can see in him that’s he’s going to be at some point at the very least a very good Championship centre half.
He makes stupid decisions at times. And watching his passing can - at times - be incredibly frustrating. Is/was nowhere near as good as he thinks he is on the ball.
But I’m happy he’s here for another few years!

We’ve probably made him one of our top earners, but I suppose that’s not hard as we only have 7 players.

After we started playing with two central defenders I really thought he made big strides forward as a central defender. I was unsure about Wilmot, but think he played ever so well after we went for 4 at the back.  |

He had 3 years remaining so wasn't an issue until next summer at the earliest.
It'll just be another player we have difficulty moving on if we have a change of manager and he's not fancied.

Depends on the wages he's on a bit, but it shouldn't be at all hard to move on a proven, experienced Champo defender who's under 25. |

This is what frustrates me about the Coates family. They have form for extending contracts and sealing transfers for players with long term injuries. It's just a very classy way to operate and as a fan it makes me so proud.
The Yang to that Yin is how they run the day to day grunt which has seen us bottom half for 5 years in a row, and as a fan it makes me so angry!

Think it also depends what money he was on before, he probably deserves an improved deal given the season he's had if he wasn't a high-earner previously.

He is our most progressive defender, he carries the ball out of defence and generally always looks to play the ball or carry the ball forward.

He can be frustrating at times Wilmot.
When he's on his game, he's a great player to have on the pitch.
If he can hammer home some consistency into a game then this extension is worth it, IMO.
Has the attributes needed to be a top champo centre back/half, let's hope he capitalises on that.

Wilmot needs to add consistency to his game , but I bet he and the manager know that .He can drive forward with the ball 40 yards then give the ball away but he's also got good pace for a centre half so hopefully he will continue to develop
