Still at it I see- quite some commitment for someone who doesn't 'give a shit' about the subject matter or what I think- the fanboy doth protest too much! You seem a little triggered to me- if you don't 'give a shit' then what I choose to watch or not watch is immaterial. No need for pity or amateur level psychology/ gaslighting either, just because I have a different opinion on football to you. My life's sound thanks, made even better by last week's news which puts to bed the dreary 'bring back TP' posts whenever we have a bad spell. Oh, and Waddo is the undisputed most successful manager in the club's history. That's based on facts not your delusional fantasies- not to mention Trophyless Tone being outperformed by Roberto Martinez when it comes to Cup Finals against Man City š I actually think you protest too much sonā¦.oh let me shout my bile and hatred as loudly as I can..you canāt cope with anyone (particularly me it appears) saying the slightest positive thing about TP. Youāre obsessed with hatred and negativity actually . Iām actually celebrating something positive really positive and successful where you spend your life screaming and shouting insanely about how bad and shit and woeful it wasā¦youāre in the minority mate, a noisy vociferous minority but a huge minority. He split the fans when he was here, reading some of the threads, he is still splitting the fans. A serious question. How did āheā split the fans when he was here? I canāt remember him saying or doing anything that could be viewed as being derogatory about the club, the family, the supporters or the City. I can remember arguments on this board about footballing matters which created a division, see one particular poster on this thread that is abusive to others who donāt agree with his train of thought. See how many have enjoyed the podcast and wish him well It is really is a serious question!!

My question (a truly inquisitive one) was how āheā split the supporter base. Was it based on āThe Truthā as being the result of some form of independent investigation into a particular incident or set of incidents, Someone elseās truth based on what they say āmust be truthā or is it simply down to differing opinion? Perhaps Iām in a different place and have different experiences but all of the long standing supporters who I know personally and those who I know from the pub wonāt have a word said against him. Iām certainly not of the opinion he should be back at the helm. I am and will remain steadfast in my opinion that heās one of four managers in my lifetime that provided great times down at the Vic and the Brit. A grateful thanks to all.

See how many have enjoyed the podcast and wish him well It is really is a serious question!! He was a massive bullshitter, would never answer questions with a straight answer, particularly critical ones, was capable of being at best patronising to players and fans alike (good kiddy, these Stokie working class simpletons just like haaard word and running around, steak and chips) and at worst outright contemptuous (save up all your pennies for Valencia, the Beattie incident). His football was a tough watch for many and only tolerable if there was an element of something explosive e.g. Ric, Pennant, Rory's throw (it did for him in the end when none of those things were present). On the other hand he was the architect of something so unique and special I doubt England's top division will ever see the like of it again, got a team of relatively limited resources so well-drilled and solid they routinely wiped the floor with far more illustrious opponents, got us to our first ever FA Cup Final, was nothing but a gentleman to those who came to know him, stuck two fingers up at the snobs, became heavily invested in the club and the area and made big personal commitments/sacrifices to contribute to local charities. So there you go, never mind splitting "the fans", he's perfectly capable of splitting *one* fan. On balance I'm fond of him despite still holding some grudges, and I'll look back on his time here with (tempered) gratitude.

This is called a circular argument. Mate you asked a "serious question" about how he split fansā opinion; I gave you a few reasons but all you want to do is deny and challenge and find fault in one side of them - which is fine, you've got your opinion and others have theirs. Almost like the fanbase is "split" about the whole issue.

I liked the podcast because it was enlightening to hear his views on:
1. Signing playing who had ā history at other clubs ā
2. The extent he would go to , to keep players focused ( bollocking Ryan ).
3. The influence Kempsey had over him.
4.that owned up he had his favouriteās
The one thing I will say about Tony was he respected the area, the owners and the supporters of this football club and when did get moved on he left a legacyā¦.. A GREAT CULTURE.
I agree that sometimes the football dished up was not attractive.

That's a great assessment to be fair, other than for me, I can't hold any grudges against him anymore. Towards the end of his reign here I hated what we had become, his football had regressed so much that even when Rory was finished we still had players trying to replicate his throw, and even when Rory's throw had become ineffective we had Rory himself trying to wing it into the box from inside his own half. His tactics became a joke and we as a team had become predictable and a real bore to watch and we were definitely going to get relegated sooner rather than later if he had stayed. Having said all that, (and I'm definitely guilty of not appreciating it enough at the time in hindsight) I look back now and can only really remember the good times because he gave me some of the best Stoke City supporting moments of my life. That first season in the Premeier League will never be equalled in my lifetime, especially at home, and for that alone I find it impossible to hold any kind of grudge against a manager who gave me those memories, and that's without even mentioning the promotion season, the FA Cup, and the European games and the modern day Stoke City legends he signed for us. Regardless of people's personal opinion of the man himself or his footballing ethos, Tony Pulis IS a Stoke City legend and in my opinion he fully deserves that title.

Why ask the question if you had no intention of being receptive to an answer other than your own? His 'rationale' for Valencia, where just as a reminder he didn't even fill the substitute's bench, is a damning indictment of our league performance that season. Why did a team who only the previous spring was playing its best football since the 70s need to essentially throw a cup game due, with a third of the season remaining, to relegation jitters? Especially since that same squad had lost nobody, had what was then the biggest single-window transfer budget in the club's history lavished on it in the summer, and yet won only four of its last 22 league games that season? I don't know how anyone can objectively quibble with Potterlog's post, even if they aren't your feelings about the man you can surely appreciate the duality stirs mixed feelings for others?

I miss having a manager where our gripes were about what starting line ups he picked during Eurpoean football matches.
Great times.
