More action on immigration. Or - more taxpayers money being used and not in the way we wanted it to be, like to improve our services

This must make him the greatest prime minister in history? Why are we still poor though with terrible public services. I thought all we had to do was get rid of the immigrants and we'd all have our own yachts by the end of it. there's still about 100,000 living the high life in hotels though isn't there ?

Depends what you call the high life doesn't it. I'm sure the hotel owners are living quite cushy at the moment. And the fact we don't have hotels filled with European or American refugees suggest most people don't see it as the high life. Or else surely an American would just destroy their passport and sail the channel to live the high life in the hilton.

Not a big fan of the man but got to give him his dues that he's making waves on immigration compared to what the tories did.

The last Government tried to operate outside the Law which was obviously unsuccessful Did you not read the GB News Article where almost 10K failed Asylum Seekers were returned in record numbers since the Labour Administration took Office There is a Human Rights Lawyer involved

Righty-ho No the reply is to a post that suggests grown ups have allegedly entered the room But I do find it strange your praising a government following plans from a Italian ex facist But you lacked the curiosity to glance upwards to see the headline which said 10K Failed Asylum Seekers had been deported since July Yet you were able to reply to a post about adults entering the room and instinctively thought.... Human Rights Lawyers, Remarkable. If someone has a potentially Legal good idea it would be churlish to dismiss it because of its source. That's where the last administration tied itself in knots by pursuing illegal methods. Churchill was a Racist but he too had some good ideas.

I think you are looking at it from the wrong eyes, it's definitely the high life to them. If you have left a country where you are being persecuted and in imminent danger of being beaten up, imprisoned or worse then yes living in a rundown hotel in Margate definitely is the high life. And given our legally binding internatonal commitments its the least we can do. You are just peddling the old trope that asylum seekers are all economic migrants here to milk our social security system. They aren't - the majority of asylum seekers when their applications do get processed have a valid claim and go on to be economicaly active. Those that don't have a claim get deported. The huge costs are down to the fact that the system in place to deal with asylum applications is woefully under funded and under resourced. If it was properly funded the country would save millions in hotel bills and having people willing to but unable to work because it is illegal to work while their asylum claims are being processed. The huge expense associated with housing asylum seekers in hotels is entirely down to the last government's ineptitude. Rather than do deals with countries to handle applications at source (which is what the current government is doing) and put in efficient systems to process claims the Tories just spent millions on the doomed Rwanda plan in an attempt to fool people into thinking they were doing something about the issue and paid out millions to landlords and hotel owners to deal with the fallout of having done fuck all to actually deal with the issue on the ground.

Aren't people celebrating that 10,000 have been returned since Labour took office? The Tories returned 12,000 Albanians didn't they ? It all adds up to £8 million a day it's costing us when public services are getting worse and worse.

If they're all genuine cases and pass the test to be classified as asylum seekers where else are they actually going to be housed?
We can't house our own population as it is.
Oh look, developers like Abode will arrive like modern slum lords creating 'student' accomodation from defunct buildings (two local ex-police stations spring to mind) that then becomes bedsits for the likes of Clearsprings to rinse.

It adds up to 8 million a day because the applications aren't being processed and the applicants can't work or, if not entitled to asylum, aren't being deported. Which bit of that don't you understand? In order to systematically deport asylum seekers we would either have to formally withdraw from the legally binding agreements we have signed up to or simply ignore them and break them. In either case we would be pyriahs on the international stage and in the latter case no-one in their right bind would enter an agreement with us as we will have shown we can't be trusted. So which is it?

I hope the Air France cabin crew get to hear about what he has done. Mayela, of Oxford, was joined in the dock today by a French interpreter (more expense). He will also be barred from working with children. Why isn't he getting deported after he's served his time, we should be like Australia, one crime and you are out ?

Your attempt to link Starmer with every crime ever committed in UK is puerile Do you ever read the Articles you link or do you never get beyond the headline His immigration status being nothing to do with the CPS but Home Office as no crime had been committed at that time. His Asylum Application was refused under Labour in 2004 but granted under appeal in 2010 under the Conservative Government, incompetent I'll grant you.
