It has been mentioned. But do you know who told them and why? Britannia Hotels told them to leave because Serco (contractor to the Home Office) offered to buy up all 88 rooms. Look further and it's what Serco and Britannia do up and down the country on a regular basis - fill Britannia Hotels at the taxpayers expense with asylum seekers. The asylum seekers don't get to choose their hotel - they get sent to where private operators can get the biggest bang for their buck with your an my money. Great business if you can get it. Note 1. Serco was fined nearly £23 million as part of a settlement with the Serious Fraud Office over an electronic tagging contract with the Ministry of Justice where they were accused of charging the government for electronically monitoring people who were either dead, in jail or had left the country. They have nevertheless continued to be awarded contracts by the Home Office and Department of Health - including for the disasterous Test and Trace Note 2 Edward Argar MP - a minister in the department of Justice is former Head of Communications for Serco Note 3 Alex Langsam - CEO of Britannia Hotels is a Tory Donor So now we’ve finally come to the conclusion that The North Staffs is indeed housing Albanian asylum seekers, the question is what are they seeking asylum from? War? Nope, Famine? Nah. I'm not sure specifically but the fact that when processed, 53% of all Albanians (men, women and children) are granted asylum, would then suggest that more than half of them do indeed have legitimate claims. Surely the issue here (especially) in the last 12 months, is the lack of desire from the Home Office to actually process these applications in the first place, preferring to house them in hotels at the tax payers expense, pretty much indefinitely, it would currently seem. I suspect the reason for this is that ideologically, the current Home Office doesn't actually want to accept even the legitimate applications and would rather instead send ALL OF THEM to Rwanda, hence the lack of actual processing at all over the last year.

In any case the 'Albanians' coming here by dingy are not asylum seekers. They just get to stay here because the Tory government doesn't have a clue what to do with them and the traffickers are taking the piss out of the system. Eventually the government just gives up and they get in somehow. The measures in place aren't strict enough or enforced enough. Quite - however 86% of Albanians granted asylum so far are women who are victims of sex trafficking. If - however - we managed to process more than 4% of applications per annum then we might find that a number of the remaining 96% get sent back to their contry of origin. And that may or may not include Albania. If they do then they might start to think again about coming in the first place. However I rather suspect the current govt have no desire to solve the issue - it makes money for cronies and it provides a scapegoat for society's and a tabloid distraction away from serial incompetence ills. What's not to like. Who's to say that they 86% aren't going straight back into sex trafficking once they're here? If it's so easy to get in then who's to say this isn't the preferred route? Why smuggle people in when you can just send them on a boat with a non existent immigration control. The gangs need to be dealt with. As with everything in the UK. It's far too soft, and stricter tougher sanctions and rules need to be enforced.

I don't know with which National Identity you identify with ( and I'm not asking you) I think this Government has, like Baldick, a "Cunning Plan" which has been to drive the UK Economy into the Toilet with a set of Disastrous decisions over the past 12 making the UK an unattractive place to emigrate to thereby solving the "Immigration Crisis" The first great wave of Immigrants to Britain were the Irish which started under Empire and peaked in early 1960s at over 683K. The latest census puts the absolute number at 324K or less than half. This makes the Irish 5th behind India, Poland, Pakistan and Romania in terms of numbers. The same derogatory tropes that were used against the Irish previously e.g. their taking our jobs, their lowering wage rates etc are now being used towards the New Immigrants It is a reflexive reaction to look outward for the source of your problems and angst rather than inward There are now more Mainland British born people living in ROI (100K+) per capita than ROI born people living in Mainland Britain This is hardly surprising given that ROI GDP per Capita (4th in the World) is more than double UK GDP per Capita (26th) www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/uk-news/2022/nov/05/theres-not-many-left-now-census-shines-spotlight-on-britains-dwindling-irish-communityThing is the Baldrick plan is working. Asylum applications are half what they were 20 years ago. The annual number of asylum applications to the UK peaked in 2002 at 84,132. After that the number fell sharply to reach a twenty-year low point of 17,916 in 2010. It rose steadily again throughout the 2010s and then sharply in 2021, to 48,540, which was the highest annual number since 2003. So to be clear - it fell sharply under Labour and has almost tripled again under the Tories (the party that takes control of our borders apparently). This is not about an 'invasion' this is about one of two things:- A. If I'm being charitable its about abject Tory incompetence. An inability to hold on to what they had and make it worse whilst scapegoating the victims in the process. B. If I'm being cynical it's about corruption and diversion. As I posted above there's a lot of money to be made by people with Tory contacts out of Home office contract awards. But still people would rather believe Farridge's xenophobic bile. Farage is not a Tory. He is anti Tory on immigration, as I have put before, yes under Johnson Conservatives went to the new liberal party, possibly under Cameron too. I agree that there is a lot of corruption in all parties look at Blair. Soames the Tory MP his brother is making money out more refuges coming over. Corrupt. Labour want mass immigration and want this to carry on as Albanians are muslim, Afghans and iranians too. Muslim vote for Labour is 80% plus corrupt postal voting eg Peterbrough. Corrupt. For me politicians should not do a PPE course and that's it straight into politics they should be made to work for five to ten years to get experience of the world. I hope Braverman acts on her words and sorts this migrant crisis out then my respect for politicians may return.

It’s funny that those from outside of Stoke love to see these people housed here. I literally replied to one of your posts and said that there are too many asylum seekers in Stoke-on-Trent and that other parts of the country should take their fair share to relieve the pressure. You're not arguing on the grounds of local economics or the strain on local services though, you're saying ideologically they shouldn't be here full stop. I live in Manchester, like Stoke as well as Birmingham and Glasgow it is one of the areas housing a disproportionate amount of asylum seekers because of the cheap inner city housing available......... Yes to be fair you did say about other areas taking more in. Still think you talk out of your arse on the rest of this debate

In order to get to the UK they need to cross several countries who cheerfully wave them through. And admittedly some settle elsewhere - for example Belgium has twice as many Albanians per head of population as the UK. (Are they all university professors over there?). You're right the gangs should be tackled - but that's a matter of international co-operation and I'm not sure in that respect the UK is doing any worse than anyone else.

Maybe these boats aren't as bad as some think. I’m more than happy to embrace those asylum seekers who contribute to the economy and work hard they’re very welcome. The issues more around those that come over with no skills and that don’t contribute. I guess it all comes down to allowing the right people in. It shouldn’t be difficult if immigration process people in good time. It’s a shambles that’s for sure.
