I’m in London this week with work. I’m staying in Ealing going have a few around here tonight to see what like. Any suggestions rest of week that involve good beer and not overrpriced. May go wild on Thursday and head towards the over priced ends of town. I like this little area when I'm down in London, got about 4 pubs in close proximity and a few places to eat, it's like a little preserved old London close in Mayfair www.shepherdmarket.com/directory/ Ye Grapes, The Kings Arms, The Market Tavern are 3 Ive drank in. From Ealing get on the Piccadilly line and get off at Green Park, it's a 5 minute walk away

Yes, enjoyed it, what I like most about London is the pubs are always full with good atmosphere. As they say ‘ if you’re tired of London, you’re tired of life’. Great place. Down there again possibly after Xmas, will be on the hunt for a new area to have a beer.

Coal drops yard, a recently refurbished area behind Kings cross is nice in warmer weather where you can sit out on terraces. Not like your old pubs but it's good to people watch, I normally have a quick one in the Wetherspoons (The Barrel Vault) at St Pancras station, a nice pint of Leffe in there to set me on my way, I've eaten in the restaurant between Kings X and St Pancras, it's called the German Gymnasium. I'm down there this week, got an after works do near to the Tower so will jump in the Cheshire Cheese first near Fenchurch Street, may even do a Cheshire Cheese double with a pre one at the Olde Ye Cheshire Cheese on Fleet Street and perhaps call in one around St Pauls on the way between them.

I’ll be very surprised if that happens. Of bigger concern is GB news and their misinformation that asylum seekers have come here illegally. And the ignorance gets reinforced once more. And their lack of research. A bus journey in London doesn’t cost £2 and are very unlikely to increase to £3.

Yea, but statistical facts are not relevant, people's personal perceptions and bias are far more important That's true. Not being on here that much these days, I'd forgotten the first rule of Oatcake wisdom...individual experiences far outweigh independently verifiable data and evidence. Or, at least, they do for some. "You can prove anything with facts".

Trump once more shows his ignorance. Khan has won more elections than Trump. Never lost in fact. As for perception, as someone who has lived in London for well over a decade, it feels safer now than ever for me.

It is. If London was the square mile alone it’s an amazing place. It isn’t. The crime areas are predominantly in the suburbs bar Westminster.

I guess a lot depends on where people live / go as it’s such a huge place. Having worked and lived in London I’d suggest the experience of going to Fulham / Richmond are very different to that of Croydon, Barking. It’s a city of extremes but if you look at the top 20 boroughs crime boroughs they’re as high as anywhere else in the UK and there are as many criminal gangs based there as there’ve ever been as the recent information on Chris Kaba’s gang displayed. www.churchillsupportservices.com/resources/news-insights/top-15-most-dangerous-areas-in-london/People can keep dismissing it as baloney but violent crime in the majority of areas in London is on the up especially in respect to county lines gangs like the 67 gang exploiting young kids.

Yes, they'll be the same ones that The Guardian report used, amongst others, and then added the relevant context, as the report said it had. No-one's stopping you staying safely cocooned in Cobham, if venturing into London terrifies you as much as it regularly appears to do. To be fair to you, Cobham, at least you're within touching distance of London, albeit a bit weirdly obsessed with its darker side. The posters who really make me laugh are those who are based in or near Stoke and profess to loathe the capital, but spend an unusual amount of time going on about it, while ignoring all the other places with proportionately greater crime issues! But then, those places don't have a left-leaning, Labour muslim in charge! Perhaps we'll start to see a similar level of interest in crime and stabbings in the West Midlands now that Andy Street has been replaced by a Labour mayor? Although he is white and not a muslim, so I doubt it.

Although he is white and not a muslim, so I doubt it. I absolutely agree. The main reason those from outside of London make up rubbish about what a dangerous place it has become is because we have a very successful Muslim mayor. When crime was higher under Johnson as mayor, nobody cared. Khan keeps being reelected for a reason. He is good. The ULEZ zones being a great example which have massively reduced pollution in the city. Those who criticise it obviously don’t care about the fact far fewer children are now suffering with respiratory problems. They just don’t want a “nanny state” (if it is a Muslim labour policy). Johnson’s low emission zones were absolutely fine!
