How long do you think it takes to do a pat down etc? I bet it would get real old, real quick. On your way to your kids recital - nah, you look funny, time to be frisked and have a background check. Coming home from the pub - hm, not sure about that, you look funny, time to be frisked and maybe you can sit in a van for a while as well. You’ve had it happen a lot then? What’s your understanding of Stop and Search? Not the 70s Sweeney version.

I’d say this is good news that the Met have got a potential killer off the street and people can feel safer. Bad news is when someone loses their life at the end of a knife, cost of living, no jobs, more govt corruption, ULEZ, People dying in Palestine, Covid deaths, the threat from Russia, Rising mental health, constant protests. I guess we all see things differently.
What are you on about?
That's got absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the point I was making about your hypocrisy.
Which in fact, was a response to a post you made yesterday morning.

About 30 seconds and yes I would be more than happy to be patted down. Every single day if necessary. In fact when I work away on site that’s exactly what happens. I understand that the point of it is to keep the public safe. And you know why? It’s because I have nothing to hide. I realise it must be a concern for people who want to stab folk though which must be worrying for those types

It’s got everything to do with it I think it’s good news and would offer the public reassurance that someone’s being arrested you don’t. Simple.

It's proper sad as fuck that a dozen or so posters have dug their trenches so deep that they stalk eachother around the forum seeing who has said what, where, who has liked what & what did that like mean etc... and it's now being dragged out over numerous different threads every, single day. It's pathetic, you all need to grow up.

Their time management is clearly better than mine.

What’s your understanding of Stop and Search? Not the 70s Sweeney version. I have been once before actually. I was about 15 yards from my house. I too enthusiastically emptied my pockets when instructed and had a gun pulled on me. I almost shit myself there and then. After that, one officer patted me down while the other stood a few feet back with their hands still on their gun but back in their holster. Does that count? Am I allowed an opinion now? Oh, and my crime was that I stumbled a little bit down the street on the way back from the bar. Definitely, stop and search worthy.

I haven't even mentioned the incident.
My reply was to the post you posted a day before it even happened.
You're (rather disingenuously) attempting to avoid addressing your hypocrisy.

All in all about 6 hours after they did the cavity search and found the baseball bat.

You know, I didn’t have the sense to ask them to hold on while I pressed play on my phone’s stopwatch. Probably significantly less time than 30 minutes, probably more like 10.

Of course you’re allowed an opinion but I’d suggest a stop and search in the U.K. is very different to the US as the legislations a whole lot different and generally officers aren’t armed so if you’re going to say that it takes 30 mins to search someone I’m entitled to question where you get that estimate from as it seemed excessively long and I’d say you’d have a right to complain if you were kept that long. Here’s some reference for the U.K. Stop and Search it’ll give you a bit of info as to why you can’t be search without some suspicion / grounds. www.gov.uk/police-powers-to-stop-and-search-your-rights

It's a shame some people view the Met (or police in general) as cannon fodder or statistics, and not real people with families. Good luck to the officer.

It is why I want to see the whole article. Either everyone I know is unbelievably lucky, or something fishy is going on.

Frightening stats if true. Incredible timing for a report like that to be released just a week or so before the mayoral elections! What a coincidence that Ian Duncan Smith’s lobby group that he created would release this now. It’s a shame it doesn’t provide any of the data or evidence to back up its findings. Why does it recommend more stop and search when all evidence points to that making no difference? Any idea what their findings are based upon, other than to try and drum up support for their candidate?

Certainly no way near 1 in 5 (or is it 1 in 4, the two papers give conflicting analysis!?) of people around Richmond have been threatened or attacked in the last 5 years.
